I forget it's so smoky.

by MKRowdy

My #1 complaint about Brown's: It's smoky (FYI: Monday is a SMOKE FREE night!).

My #1 compliment about Brown's: You're having such a good time you manage to forget the smoke.

I've been going there since 2004, just after I moved here. The "regulars" are overall a great bunch... willing to offer advice, let you know what's going on, and trying to make sure you feel welcome if you appear to be a little out of place. The new owner is a great guy who is ALWAYS willing to help. Sometimes he's a little TOO nice in my opinion (some of the bartenders get away with too much if you ask me), but that's certainly a better fault than being rude and not having time to talk to the people who pay his rent.

There's always multiple drink specials and I can never complain about getting a couple of my favorite beers at regular price for less than most bars charge as a "special". There are a couple bartenders that could definitely stand to be a little kinder/easier to approach when you need something, but overall the service is good.

  • Pros: Beer prices, FUN atmosphere... you don't feel out of place if you're not a "regular".
  • Cons: The smoke and sometimes the service.

Sketchy place

by unknownplayer

The place is too sketchy. The bartender took my ID for the table and I'm ok with it. But later some guy went behide the bar and looked at it. I don't know if the guy was part of the parlor but I think that was uncool. The pool hall can hold IDs for collateral but examining it is too spooky. Then that same guy approached my table and started convince us to come to his church. It was Saturday night, I just wanted to shoot some pool and drink some beer. LEAVE ME ALONE. bye bye Browns.

  • Pros: none
  • Cons: not trustworthy.

Always Welcome

by pljnki2005

I recently moved to the area and joined the local APA. I heard about Browns Billiards through my teammates and decided to try it one weekend. I was impressed by how the staff and customers made me feel at home. Everyone was so friendly and invited me to come back to play in the pool/poker tournament on Sundays. I was discouraged because it started a lot later than I anticipated, but it was a blast and well worth the wait. I also had the opportunity to meet a couple of the owners during one of my visits and they were very friendly. I have been playing league play in several different states for many years and this is by far the best experience.

I am excited for the next pool session to begin because I want to start my own team at Browns. Even though it is a farther drive for me, my experience has shown me it is well worth it. If you enjoy a nice night out with friends you should really try this place, you will probably leave with many more friends. I was so impressed that the bartender knew everyone's name and drink; it reminded me of an old college bar I used to frequent.

  • Pros: Great People, Fun, Relaxed Atmosphere
  • Cons: Need to start events on time

Stay away from this place!!

by sandieharris

It's funny to see owners reviewing their own places. They always make them sound so wonderful. Brown's is not a great place. Sure, they've done some upgrades, but that alone doesn't make it a great place. They have run off almost all of their regulars over the past six months, and it's all because of a certain wanna-be bartender. Her name is Khonesavanh, but she goes by Inky. She will gladly overcharge you and treat you as if you are the biggest nuisance you have ever encountered. You are much better off spending your money somewhere else (and you might actually get what you are paying for).

Great Pool Hall

by mnwlky

If you haven't been to Brown's Billiards lately, you must go.

In the last six months the place has been repainted, new tables, bar has been reorganized, more staff has been added; and a new kitchen is in the works.

A new seating section has been done, and there are more tournaments that you can swing a cat. I played in one last week that had 50 people.

The place is becoming one of the key players in the billiard business.

  • Pros: a pool hall
  • Cons: needs to open earlier

Stubbing my toe is preferable.

by spbarringham

Not a bad place if you want to spend too much on liquor/drinks and come home reaking of tobacco smoke.

Was hard to get service at the bar as the bartender was out playing pool. But waiting fifteen minutes wasn't so bad...it was just added to my pool time.

Pros: Location and usually lots of tables available.

Cons: Life's too short to go into detail...

Real Billiards

by jaymdale

This is not a booze joint, it is a classic billiards atmosphere with well-maintained tables and family run values. Try it!

  • Pros: Location, Availability, Atmosphere
  • Cons: No Food, Smoky
