I love this place
by evanbenson
I have been going to Margaux's for years and have never been disappointed. The food and service have been outstanding. They always make us feel at home and is my go to place whenever we go out with family or friends. I am looking forward to going to the lobster fest tonight for the 8th year in row.
- Pros: food, service, atmosphere

Margaux's - THE place to dine
by HBradL
Margaux's is a wonderful restaurant which NEVER ceases to amaze me in a very delightful way! I've lived in the south a long time and have eaten shrimp and grits many times for breakfast but I have got to tell you, the staff at Margaux's have really outdone themselves! I had lunch today and tried their Sauté Sweet Shrimp over Anson Mills corn grits & Applewood smoked bacon gravy. Wow! What a delightful flavor! It was quite a mixture of ingredients which melded into a really wonderful taste delight. Once I tasted it, I didn't stop until my plate was completely clean; it was so good, I ignored the people I was dining with. I've seen shrimp and grits on the menu several times prior, I just didn't try them. Today, Steve suggested I might enjoy them and he was totally correct. My father-in-law, Harold, recently visited us so we took him to Margaux's for dinner. Harold loves cooked oysters and as luck would have it, there were oysters on the menu. Harold liked the oysters so much, we had to return two nights later for more. That is all we hear about from Harold is how Margaux's prepares the best oysters he has ever eaten and at 84 years old, he's eaten quite a few. Harold was very impressed with the atmosphere, the cleanliness, and the complete attention and professionalism of the staff. This is quite an endorsement from Harold who has very discerning tastes. Superb service, truly wonderful food, awesome ambiance, these are things which keep my clan returning for more and more tasty delights!
- Pros: Excellent food and a staff who will really spoil you.
- Cons: Can't think of any.

Management does not like complaints from customers. And said not see it and not care. And customers told they lie.Employees are rude to female customers. They rush to get rid of,talk back rude, rude look, try to start fights, put finger in food of customers, eat while wait on customers, employees not pay for their food and drink, give free food and drink to social customer friends, not volunteer to wait on,give menu, food, bill, receipt, drinking glasses, silverware, and napkins. Floors, tables, chairs are dirty. And employees not clean it up.Employees push food crumbs off the tables and not clean the dirty floor. Bring wrong order and overcharge bill and not volunteer to clean it up. Yell at and give rude looks not get a tip from customers, complain other customers are tip stingy, talk on cell telephone while wait on customers, not want to write down menu and did it anyway.Give bill and run away and not come back, give food and drink and try to run away. While talking to female customers, walk away and talk and not come back. And not want to wait on female customers anymore.Females have to ask employees to come back and finish job.Demand more tip money.Give plate too small for food and not want to correct it.
- Pros: not any

The author of this critique has not only slandered our restaurant but quite a few of our friends restaurants & fellow competitors in the area. The statements made in this review are malicious and unfounded. Our entire staff takes great pride in what we create on a daily basis and have been delivering to our valued clientele for over 17 years. We invite anyone who ever encounters something wrong at our establishment to let us know immediately of our mishaps so we can correct them vs hiding behind a revile filled keyboard. Please disregard any of these comments. Thank you in advance-Margaux's Family.
margaux's a great place
by fourplus
we all went out for a special occasion and was our first trip there. it really seemed everyone went out of their way to make us as welcome and comfortable as possible, which was a nice change of pace from eating out at most places, even the owner was involved. top notch service. the food was excellent as well and my wife and i thought things were underpriced. the only drawback i thought was the wine list - i expected it to be up to par with the rest of the experience, and was a little dissappointed. with a name like margaux, you expect some nice french bordeaux, as well as some depth covering other wine regions of the world. not so. seems california was well represented. but hey, if this is your only drawback, that is not so bad. just bring in someone who knows wine and viola! fixed! definately recommended to all that read this.
- Pros: great service, terrific food, nice ambiance
- Cons: wine list
Excelent Birthday Location
by steph221
I wanted to go somewhere new for my 22nd birthday and I stumbled upon Margaux's through a friend. We made reservations for a group of 10, which changed to 12. They ended up giving us our own room for the party. The staff was excellent. Water was always full, but we weren't interrupeted in conversation ever by the waitress. The food was also great. Usually when a group of young people (we are 20-22) goes out, you are treated a little worse than an older group, but not here. I appreciate that they treated us like any paying customer.
Dissapointment
by northral
I rarely go out to lunch; however, I met a friend at Margaux's because I had dinner there a while back and it was very good. I ordered the Steakhouse salad, and I think the menu said crab, bacon, cheese, etc. The salad was of a reasonable mound, but for $9.95, a bit pricey. It had some gooie dressing on it (my bad, I did not ask for dressing on the side, which would have probably provided me with a fresher salad!), a large number of croutons (filler), some bacon pieces and the yellow and ribby part of the romain lettuce. I counted maybe 6 partially green leaves and the rest were yellow. The "crab" was of the "pre-fab" seafood pieces variety, and hardly any of it. If you go, skip the lunch salad. It is not very good, costs a lot and was not very healthy.

Our steakhouse salad is one of our more popular salads and we always dress the salad with our vinaigrette dressing unless otherwise directed. We do apologize about the salad presentation that you experienced on your recent lunch visit and we are most grateful for your critique. It is with these comments, that we can only better ourselves and administer stricter guidelines on our presentations. Thank you for bringing our faults to our attention and please let us know during your visit of your dismay so we can correct them immediately and provide you with your specific salad expectations & requirements. Thanks again for taking the time and for your honesty. Warm Regards-Margaux's Staff.
Food buzz
by farzanegan
I've been eating at Margaux for at least ten years and I keep coming back. I can honestly say I've never had a bad- or even average meal. My wife and I ate there tonight and as I sat back after the delicious Roast chicken and calamari I declared I had a "food buzz". The food is just that good. The host and staff are sophisticated. The decor urban and artsy. But the food is devine. My only complaint is that I wish there were more French wines on the extensive wine list, but I understand that their selection is based on their patrons' wishes.
My favorite dishes are their seafood entrees. By the way- the menu is different every night (aside from a few staples) I also love that they serve duck, lamb and other interesting choices.
- Pros: Varied menu, exotic dishes
Best place to eat in all of Raleigh
by Sirtwist
I have dinned at Margaux probably 15 times and each was an adventure in great food, great atmosphere, and excellent service. If there is one thing you can absolutely count on at Margaux, it's that you won't be disappointed when you go there. It's such a treat to be able to pick a new dish from the ever evolving menu and know that you will be pleasantly surprised at the twists on tradition the chef has created for the meal. If its an evening out with friends for drinks, a quiet business lunch or a romantic meal your looking for, Margaux is the place to go.
- Pros: Staff, food, atmosphere, location, variety
- Cons: none
WOW - Awesome Restaurant
by lgillespie
Talk about great service, awesome food and a fun atmosphere....this is the place!! I have been taking my wife, family and friends here over the past 10 years and have never been disappointed. I know there have been restaurants closing down due to the economy, but I know this restaurant will live on forever because of the fanstastic dining experience second to none! I've been to restaurants in NYC, Florida, California - paid twice as much but had half the experience. Not to be missed......
- Pros: IT'S a Thumbs up from me.................
Best Restaurant in North Raleigh!!!

My husband and I have been enjoying Margaux's for 15 years. For every special occasion, family times, visits from friends and co-workers we always choose this restaurant above all others. The service is impeccable, the food is of the highest quality and there are lots of items to choose from on the menu. In addition to this, the owners are always on point to ensure an extraordinary dining experience. We highly recommend this restaurant !!
- Pros: Big Thumbs Up!!
