Not impressed. I took my dog for a rabies vaccination recently, she was not due for yearly exam or any thing else, and they charged $46 for a "comprehensive exam" just to give her rabies vaccine which was an additional fee. I used to be a veterinary technician and none of the places I ever worked charged an exam for rabies unless it was for the yearly exam. This exam was not remotely comprehensive and very hands-off. If I had known I was being charged for this so-called exam I would have asked more questions! I definitely won't be going back. Also their flea and tick meds are astronomically priced.…
Guard your wallet!.
Don't be fooled by fancy marketing and a nice website. This outfit will overcharge for their services and take advantage of you when you are vulnerable.
We all want the best for our pets, but don't let your actions be guided by your emotions. Do your homework, make a few phone calls, and ask the obvious questions.
And don't be surprised when they try to sell you an extremely expensive bag of food because "your pet would really benefit..."…
Incompetent staff!. I have been going to Oberlin Animal hospital for 3 years, but last year they got rid of all the competent assistants. Now all they have is little girls who do not know how to handle the animals so I end up paying for sedation. I never had this problem with the other staff. They mess up the appointments, they give me a call telling me that I have an appointment yet when I go there they tell me that I am not scheduled for that they. I take a day off to take my dogs to the vet and they refuse to see me. This is not professional, it's a shame, I am looking for a new vet.…
Routine grooming resulted in major injury that required 3 stitches on my dogs neck!.
I The groomers are negligent. I took my dog there for a groom because that is where my vet is located and I have had a positive experience with the vet. Shortly after I dropped my 5 pound toy
poodle off for a groom, I got a call from the vet saying that the groomer cut my dog?s neck so badly that the vet had to give him 3 STITCHES! This is completely unacceptable. Then they said that I would not me charged for the stitches but that I would be charged for the groom.
I would like to say that I like the vet, but the groomer is negligent. Routine grooming should not result in major injury that results in stitches. I am absolutely horrified. As a dog owner finding a groomer is difficult because dogs cannot speak for themselves and you have to completely trust the groomer to treat your dog with the utmost care. I cannot trust this groomer to ensure that my dog has a ?pain free? experience so I will NOT be returning.…
Watch out for Unexpected Costs. I have a 4 month old puppy and have gone to Oberlin for the last 2 months. Although the staff is nice, I recently took her to be boarded and after three nights came to pick her up and the bill was around $367.00! I knew it would be expensive, but almost $400, are you kidding me? They gave her the last distempter booster, which was expected, but also did a stool check (not expected, no one ever told me my dog would require a stool check, she had already had one) and found something which required medication- Didn't even call me to explain what they found- and charged me for the medication without an explanation- I had to wait until the following Monday after having to request a call from the vet for them to explain what was wrong with my dog. The vet did call and explained everything, but it was still disappointing that I did not know about this when it happened, I couldn't believe they did not call me as soon as something was found. I love my dog and would always do everything to protect her health, so if I had known it was going to cost this much I would have not gotten her as much play time while being boarded- Around $367 later they offer nothing, tell me they will update my charts, no need for that, I will never go back.…

Full-service!. I recently adopted my first pet and Oberlin has helped guide me through the process of being a first time dog owner fluidly and without embarrassment. Everyone that works there has a passion for animals and shares their own personal stories, giving me advice without making me feel incompetent or stupid for not already knowing. I especially like the fact that they are completely full service, with an after hours on-call doctor willing to answer questions, grooming, training, day camp for my longer days, and boarding. They are very flexible with scheduling. My dog loves coming to the vet, surprising to me b/c I always thought animals hated the vet. She never knows if it's for a doctor visit or a fun day playing with other dogs, and she can't wait to see which one of her "friends" is working that day. Even if they are a bit pricey, is your pet something you want to skimp on?…
Pet sitting - never use it!!!. Had pet sitting for a long weekend. Confirmed dates with animal hospital, confirmed dates at least twice with dog sitter. Left written confirmation of dates for pet sitter. Pet sitter did not come for last 24 hours requested and dog was left with out food, water, medication or toilet for over 30 hours!! Will never use this service again and Oberlin Animal hospital tried to tell me there must have been miscommunication - good try - everything was in writing. Thanks for the urine soaked carpets, traumatized dog and owners! I would suggest not using this way too expensive and poorly run service.…
Extremely Expensive. The vet was friendly and professional and they have a great selection of treats and toys. The main reason why I gave it such a poor rating is the pricing. I've lived in New York, DC and, Richmond and this vet was by far the most expensive vet I've ever been to. I've had the same services done at 2 or 3 other vets and it was half the price.…
