DISGUSTING

by unc5ucks

I took my girlfriend on a date here and the food was terrible, my pasta with clam sauce made me sick even though I only took a few bites, the place was dirty, and the service was terrible.

  • Pros: None
  • Cons: everything about the place

Let us know when the calamari starts to be made fresh

by foodietillidie

I've eaten at Amedeos a good amount of times over the past 10 years. The price of the food and the quality matched each other 10 years ago but now, the prices have gone up and the quality has remained the same. I would say it is a bit overpriced. It is interesting to order the 'choose your pasta and topping' entree because sometimes the topping is not necessarily cooked in with the sauce. I've had angel hair with garlic butter and raw onions sprinkled on top and I've also had a cooked sausage link lain across linguine in alfredo sauce. Oh- and ask about the calamari before you order it. Last time I didn't and it was the thickly sliced, thickly breaded kind that could have been frozen and made you feel like you were chewing a tire. I've always eaten their pasta entrees but the place is so charming, I'll go back to see what their pizza is like, although Frank's is a major contender. Some good choices at Amedeos include the lasagna and pasta primavera.

  • Pros: decorated with interesting old NCSU memorabilia
  • Cons: calamari

In Defense of Amedeo's

by JokeWar25

This is a great place to eat & hang out. The food is delicious & has some of the best drink specials in Raleigh. I've read some of these reviews & can agree that service is not always the best & the manager they did hire did mess things up. But I know for a fact there are people who work there since the good days and are all about saving the place.

*The management is back to the way it was

*it is a family owned business!!

*its fresh homemade food

*yes changes did have to be made, cause the place did go thru bankruptcy, so we did have to change from the large pour, & free Blue Cheese with everything

I guess I just dont see how people can have 1 lil complaint & swear off the place, maybe read into whats really going on there, maybe ask the people there, instead of reading some random complaint from someone who probably never even worked in a restaurant.

The place is still great and full of good times, don't believe me come in & check it out, and check it out again if ya are one of these people who has to swear the place off, maybe you were to hasty and did come across that one bad apple.

  • Pros: Great food & atmosphere w/ great prices
  • Cons: bad apple here & there

Not the same Amedeo's

by BillH33

This is not the Amedeo's I am used to, and I have eaten here for 19 years. The service was absolutely horrible and the food was just as bad. We went 30 minutes without seeing our waiter and not having any water. On top of that, there was a spoiled tomato on the salad, which also had stale croutons that tasted like they were 3 weeks old. The wrong food was brought out, and I had to hunt down a hostess to find our waiter that did not come by our table or the table beside us (they left after about 30 minutes of no service). The waiter gave me attitude when I told him it was the wrong food and didn't even take the empty plates off the table. I sat while the others ate and finally had to ask the hostess to get my food to go. 30 minutes later finally got the food, of course with an attitude and excuses. Got home, tasted the food and it was the frozen ravioli that I used to buy at Harris Teeter, not good. I don't know if they are under new management, ownership, or what, but this is not what it used to be and would not recommend it.

  • Pros: If this would have been 6 months ago, everything, now... nothing
  • Cons: bad service, bad food

Taste of Italy

by map65

I 've been going to Amedeo's since 1997 . Went with my wife the other night and both of us made a pack not to go back. My lasagna was 3 noodles high barely up to the top of baking dish. It was smootherd in sauce and burnt. 3 meatballs that came from a bag ( no homemade ). My salad had stale croutons that were soft, no crunch.

Talked to the cook, he had a slight attitude when he aproached me. He asked how was your meal. I just said nicely NOT AS GOOD AS IT ONCE WAS and walked out.

A salesman friend stopped in my shop 2 days later and said he wanted to show me a machine on NC States campus and do lunch @ Amedeo's. I easily turned down the lunch part and told him that would be a deal breaker.

Change the name and give up on the so called Italian food. This was a nice landmark and decent place to eat . Call that Gordon fellow and revamp the place!

  • Pros:  First basket of bread was warm
  • Cons: Not italian food anymore

What Happened to Amedeo's?

by DJP2day

We had the worst meal there the other night. How can you possibly burn Lasagna? The service was slow but not horrible. The wait staff must be the JV Basketball team, a bunch of tall guys running in and out of the kitchen. However the girl running the food out wore her mid-back length hair loose. I didn?t have an issue until I saw her playing with it while she was waiting for the next order to come out. I wonder how many hairs made it into the food. We asked to speak to the manager. A 20 something year old guy comes out of the kitchen with an attitude. We will not be going back. I wouldn?t recommend this restaurant to anyone. Try Casalinga on Capital in Mini-City.

I'd recommend it.

by 1wolfpack1

I was at Amedeo's after the Miami football game the other day and place was packed. There was so many State fans there from the game, wearing red, it was a lot of fun. Yeah, we had to wait a bit but it was worth it. The food wasn't bad either. I'd recommend it.

  • Pros: food, atmosphere, service

Not traditional Italian Food

by mattking27

I love Italian food but was disappointed with what I got instead. The food wasn't terrible but its not your good true italian food but more of an Americanized version. I was expecting it to be great since it was supposedly family run but it isn't. Pizza was soggy and my girlfriends lasagna was full of water. I definitely feel the reviews of bad service...more of annoyed bartender. Not the best view from the windows in the bar when you are trying to have dinner. The bartender seemed annoyed with us? Maybe having a bad night but overall not really bringing me back and I would say most certain that the food is over priced.

  • Pros: close to campus
  • Cons: food quality, cost and service

amedeos may not be what it used to be, but have some respect

by yy4life

I used to work at amedeos when i was in college at NCSU. one of my old co-workers just sent me a link, so i could read the inexplicable trash and drama that has been written in a form of a resturant review. i worked at amedeos for two years and when i left that establishment, i was still the newest employee. recently, all the employees that had worked at amedeos for a number of years have either quit or been fired. it breaks my heart to read the reviews that have recently been written. when i worked there is was a family resturant and the food has always been a little over priced, but people came in for the atmosphere and service. but, it seems to me that if you want to write a resturant review maybe you should just stick to writing if the pizza is good or if the wait staff was friendly and keep the trash to yourself. if you dont have enough friends to gossip with, i hardly doubt writing an ugly online resturant review will make you feel any better. this is the most ridculous thing i have ever seen in my life.

the pizza is good.

and the waitstaff used to be friendly.
