Awesome burritos

by redhead85

This place is definitely not one where you go if you want great ambiance, but if you want fresh, hot, great tasting food, go to Baja Burrito. The burritos are huge, and come with tortilla chips on the side. I usually use the enormous amount of filling in my burrito to dip my chips into, but you can pay extra for fresh salsa (not the cooked kind you're used to buying from the grocery store). The quesadillas are really good too, but I usually stick with the burrito. All the employees are really friendly, and accommodate for your taste. You can even get a wheat tortilla or brown rice instead of white. Keep in mind, this is a "fresh" tasting burrito, not the sink to the bottom of your stomach kind you get at Taco Bell, so if that's what you're into, you might not like it.

  • Pros: Local artists paintings on the walls, good food, great price, large portions, college hangout
  • Cons: Sweet tea (doesn't taste like the "southern" kind we like around here)

HUGEly Fantastic

by kenyonk

OK, so it has absolutely NO atmosphere, but who needs atmosphere when they're totally focused on devouring an enormous and incredibly tastey burrito. I had the pork verde burrito deluxe (includes sour cream and guacamole) and I was in HOG HEAVEN! And it was a great value, too.

If you're looking for fine dining, go elsewhere. If you want some really good food at a good price and you want it fast................head to Baja Burrito in Mission Valley. You will be VERY happy.

  • Pros: Huge portions, great prices, excellent food
  • Cons: None....................unless you're a snob. It's not a high-end eatery.

Kicks Moe's Butt!

by nickiness

My boyfriend and I were in the mood for something spicy, something Mexicanish, but something different. After much debating we found Baja Burrito on Citysearch and decided to give it a try. Definitely a chance worth taking! It?s more Mex than Tex and very similar to Moe?s but MUCH, MUCH better! The food was delicious and did not that have fast food feel like Moe?s does and the service was great. Check it out if you like Moe?s but are just tired of that boring, processed taste.

  • Pros: Great Burritos, Homemade Taste
  • Cons: Small Dining Area

Small, collegiate hangout. Big, fat burritos.

by Contributor

In Short
Baja is a college-town hangout (NCSU) through and through. Place your order, then grab a stool and take in the basketball game while you wait--the tube is centrally located. California-style Mexican via a streamlined menu. Tacos, burritos, nachos and salads share similar fillings and are fresh, light on oil and low on salt. The burrito is king here: filled to capacity with rice, beans, cheese, pico, guacamole and your choice of chicken or steak.

The food at Baja Burrito is great but the staff is awful. The manager is very rude, and you can only expect the same from the staff. Lead by example. If you are in the mood for great food and bad service then go to Baja Burrito.

Best eats in Raleigh!

by nc_longhorn

Baja Burrito has fabulous food at an amazing price. It's addictive. It's a low-key hole in the wall, but the California style burritos are unmatched in the Triangle. Everything is fresh, and cooked to perfection. Service is fast and friendly.

  • Pros: grilled chicken, salads, price
  • Cons: gross tea

Maybe, if you paid me.

by mexjunkies

I have given this place a handful of opportunities to impress me and on any given day it simply falls short. Very short. They offer bland balls of mush stuffed into rubbery burritos, and bland balls of mush on chips and little else. Their tea is as bad as tea gets (I'm from the South, so I am qualified to judge tea). The first time I tasted their tea I literally coughed it back up! Having lived around NCSU for all of my adult life, I enjoy supporting the small local businesses but I cannot recommend this place to anyone. I should point out that I am a vegetarian so roll your eyes if you must, but if you can get to an El Rodeo, do yourself a favor and spend the extra $1.50. Baja has been around for years so people obviously like it, but I won't be back.

  • Pros: cheap, NCSU convenient, fast

That's a lotta beans.

This place is sheer magic. Burritos as big as your head, on the cheap. Would've been a life-saver back in college. Now its just plain tasty.

Plug your nose

by mtnest

My husband, daughter & I tried this place with high hopes. All of us agreed it was about the worst food we've ever had. The steak taco was absoutely inedible. I can't remember ever having food this bad in my whole life. The place smelled bad, and the air was stuffy and stale...perhaps too many people didn't take their beano before visiting. Save yourselves. This place makes Taco Bell look like haute cuisine.

  • Pros: not one
  • Cons: bad food, smell, not so cheap
