Best Vietnamese food in town
by JanMoore
I have been eating here for 9 years. The staff is friendly and helpful and the food has never disapointed. I recommend this restaurant to anyone. I have never seen unsightly or below par atmosphere. Very good.
- Pros: Authentic, very good food.
- Cons: none
Greasy Tables and below average service
by cibomatto76
We have been to this restaurant twice, the second time against our better judgment.
Both times, the tables were sticky, flies were all over the place, the menu was limited, the food was not good and the service was hectic.
The second experience was by far the worst.: When I asked the waitress whether a certain dish had wheat in it, she started arguing that rice is wheat and would not go ask the chef . Eventually she came back and said that there is no wheat in the dish but I still didn't trust that she even understood the question.
- Pros: Vietnamese food
- Cons: Bad experience all together
Tofu takeout disappointment
by Paraparacelsus
Very disappointed by take out meal. I'm no expert on this kind of thing but I am a vegetarian so I order a lot of 'tofu with veggies"-like meals. This evenings was a complete waste of money. The tofu has a completely unnatural fleshy color, all the pieces are soggy, and have the appearance of tripe. The veggies - broccoli and carrot slices - are overcooked and discolored. I took about half a sip of the egg-drop soup and that was all I could stand. The fried veggie roll appetizers were their only saving grace and I wish I just spent my money on more of those. But! I did just have a deja vu that included this food from a dream I had like 7 years ago, so that's pretty cool. People seem to really like Delat. From this one meal it'll be awhile before I go back.
Delicious!

Best Vietnamese food in the Triangle
by boboliz
My family and I have eaten at Dalat for almost 10 years. The Vietnamese food there are excellent, the staffs are very nice and friendly. They always remember us and know what we like. However, the owner is very short and talk too much. She is crazy in my eyes. The young lady works there is very nice.
- Pros: Good food
- Cons: crazy owner, talk too loud and too much
Very Good Selection of Vegetarian Dishes
by veggiegirl1975
We ate here tonight with some friends. The reviews out there that the restaurant is filthy and waiters are rude are untrue. I saw no ants or ro*ches and everyone was really helpful. Our waiter seemed a bit confused, but he promptly got the owner to be our waitress. She was very helpful in helping us choose vegan dishes. She was very friendly, upbeat and quite frankly, hilarious. She was the highlight of our evening. She also let us know that the "tofu crepes" on the menu are made with rice flour, and that the only thing eggy about them was the egg color. So they are vegan. We did not try them though.
We all shared the dalat rolls with tofu, Tofu with Lemongrass on Vermicelli, Tofu with Chili and Lemongrass, Grilled tofu with vermicelli and the famous tofu sub. I think we got the grilled tofu sub when what we should have gotten was the marinated tofu sub, but it was still very good, and had a chicken-like consistency as did the grilled tofu with vermicelli. Overall, the concensus was that the Tofu with Chili and Lemongrass was the best dish. I would definitely go back to try more entrees.
NOTE: They are closed Sundays
- Pros: Delicious vegetarian food
- Cons: Slow service, Pricey
dirty and AC does not work
by ldimpson
The last time we were there the tables/walls/floors were very dirty. I will not go back. They need to clean the place.
Maybe more to that crunch?

An infestation would be putting it moderately. Several times I have first hand witnessed customers find an insect here or there in their meal. In the back inside the walls, they literally are crawling with invaders, in defense of the owner it is quite the undertaking, although she will never put out the money that is needed to properly sanitize and put the issue to rest. She has tried many times to use over the counter bombs but even in the midst of this attack of hers there were insects falling from the top of the hood fan over the cooking area into you know where.......Also stay away from the egg drop soup it may just be a bath for our antenae wearing friends. Another hint I could provide relates directly to tipping. Now an unknown fact is that her wait staff does not see the tip money customers leave them. She pays her staff 7 to 9 dollars an hr under the table and takes the money off the tables and into her purse. Finally her kitchen staff is entirely made up of illegal mexicans whom she exploits almost as much as her customer base. She sells low quality food at a high mark up while failing to properly upkeep and reinvest in her business. Notice how fast the bar concept died there. check out the wake county health inspection report.
- Pros: on the surface it looks lke a great deal
- Cons: They won't let me use the wod ro*ches here
reliable and affordable Vietnamese food
by foodified
My girlfriend and I have been eating at Dalat for years and it has proven to be a safe bet on those nights when we just don't know where we want to eat. I can only speak to the vegetarian dishes, but their tofu is always good - even if the pieces are big enough to be unwieldy in chopsticks. There's enough variety on the menu to ensure that you don't always have to get the same thing - I've yet to get sick of any one dish. I've always found the staff to be aggreeable and the food generally arrives within minutes of our placing our order. I can recommend the vegetarian spring rolls and the tofu sub is exceptional. In actually thinking about it, I don't know why we don't eat there more often.
- Pros: quick, reliable food
- Cons: boring decor
