Not excellent but by far better than Jimmy V''s. The steak is just average and crowded but is easy to find.

Great service, so-so food

by onediner at Citysearch

I ate here this summer one night with my husband and one afternoon with my friends. The service both times was exceptionally attentive. When my husband and I went, I had steak, which was tougher than I expected for such a high end place. I had chicken when I went with my friends, which was fine. I have eaten at other places with similar prices and enjoyed it more. One of my friends remarked that she enjoyed her steak more at Winston's. I did not experience anything remarkable about any of the food. We received a note in the mail from our server two months later inviting us back (my husband had completed a comment card to compliment his service). A nice touch, but not enough to make us spend that much money for average food. I would much prefer Angus Barn (better steaks) or Second Empire (more complex and enjoyable food) to Ruth's Chris.

  • Pros: great service, lovely facility
  • Cons: food is just okay, not amazing

Most expensive average food I have ever had

by TriangleCouple at Citysearch

Lighting too dark, odd layout (we sat in the balcony area), slow service (yes we had reservations), my teeth were not sharp enough to chew through the beef. Got a nice letter from corporate HQ and played telephone tag with the local manager and I finally gave up. We will not make the mistake of going there again.

  • Pros: Free Valet Parking
  • Cons: The food quality and price

not worth the money-25 dollar steaks with no salad or sides incuded

by lisav78 at Citysearch

came here with a date who said the food was good. Seated promptly. Server was knowledgeable about menu and very friendly.I have been trying to eat healthy so I ordered the tuna. Big mistake. Tuna was dry with no flavor or sauce served with it. My date had steak and gave me a bite, which was very good-which I would have ordered it. Sides were not included. We ordered tomatoes and sweet potato pie as sides which were good. I can not believe that this place is so pricey and you get NOTHING with your course except a basket of bread. I did not ask what the bill was, but I know it was over a 100 bucks-and I was barely full. Meal we had the week before next door at Bonefish had flavor, a lot less pricey and I had leftovers.

  • Pros: great service, our sides, wine, date's steak was delish
  • Cons: wayyy overpriced,my tuna was dry with no flavor

Horrible

by ibdqt34 at Citysearch

A party of +/- 40 of us went to Ruth's Chris. My husband's meal: great (except pricey). My meal: horrible! I ordered something that should have been a very simple request, filet mignon served medium rare. You would think an establishment of this caliber would provide me with my request. Instead I received a steak that was well done (to say the least). I was so upset that my steak was uneatable that I re-ordered the steak I requested in the first place. Needless to say, everyone was practically finishing up with their meals, enjoying desserts and coffee while I was just beginning to eat and enjoy mine. The second steak was good; I've had better and I've had worse. What really got under my skin is that the waiter had the nerve to box up the well done steak and give it to me as if to say, "Here is your free gift". Why on earth would he do that? Talk about no coothe. I mean if it wasn't good enough to eat while I was in your restaurant; then why would I bother taking it home? My husband convinced me to take the steak home - - our lab retriever enjoyed a pricey, overcooked piece of meat !This place will definitely not get anymore of my money!

  • Pros: My dog ate it
  • Cons: I didn't

So?

by cjones123 at Citysearch

Wow.....what an experience. I can say it is not nearly as highly rated in my book as it comes across when you read the menu or think of the quality you would expect from a place with this sort of price. By far it is better to spend your money elsewhere that offers a specialty in steaks. Sadly we were not treated as we thought we should for the price we were paying. It seems that everything being a la carte made matters worse and the bill racked up, but yet we were still fairly ignored, and treated like we were at a lesser quality restaurant. I am not certain what is with all the hype. I can say the steak was good, but the attitude sort of created a lesser tasting steak. Sorry. Wish I could offer a better report....but I can't. Guess everyone has to try this place at least once.

Ruth Fertel is spinning in her grave

by moblues at Citysearch

As most know, this is a standard place for expense account executives. I made the mistake of taking the wife and daughter here for a special family occassion. We were seated by the kitchen door. The wait staff wasn't remotely interested in waiting on a tiny table of three. We had to beg to get water or wine refilled. They lavished their attentions on the eight rowdy Scotch-swilling business types at the next table. Food was unexceptional. Sorry Ruth. I'll never be back to your Cary location.

overrated overpriced

by justinporter at Citysearch

I recently had a business dinner at Ruth's Chris steak house and was grimly unimpressed. The brocolli came bearly steamed without a trace of salt or pepper. The asparagus was bitter and lukewarm. The potatoes Au Gratin were mediocre to say the best. The prime Rib I had was delicious and tender but overpriced at almost forty Dollars. The lobster tail was overcooked to a rubbery experience of how lobster should not be cooked. The key lime pie was just barely ok tasting more of artificial lime juice and sweetened condensed milk than authentic key lime pie. The waitstaff was very attentive and accomodating.

  • Pros: good steak, good service
  • Cons: overpriced, a little stuffy

Seek other Alternatives.

My wife and I went there for our 1st year anniversary, we were not asked if the dinner was a special occasion, which we were somewhat disappointed. We were waited on promptly and the atmosphere was very nice. We both ordered Fillets promised as melt in your mouth. But when are food showed up the steak while huge was sub par. Over peppered and very little flavor. Our baked potato was inedible and they quickly replaced it for another side dish. Pricy and not worth it. In all go else where for a nice romantice dinner if you want flavor in your steak.

  • Pros: atmosphere
  • Cons: average food, pricey
