Not impressed ....at all
by caryite90 at Citysearch
This is the third time we have dined at Ruth's Chris in Cary. The last time was an absolute fiasco. This visit was better (did not have a smoke-filled room over the bar), but not by much. We went with a few friends after being told that they had a "new, lower-priced" menu.
I have to say that by mid-meal, we were put off enough to ask for the manager! I don't know if it was because we were dressed in casual, business attire or what...but our waiter was in a huge hurry to turn our table over!
Every was rushed through. We had our entrees for about four minutes before he was back, not to ask how everything was, but to ask for dessert orders!
The food was good, but no better than we could have eaten at Outback or other such locations. The service on the other hand, was rude and snobbish! I rated this with one star, because for the setting and the prices, the food and service should be nothing less that 5 Stars!
If you check the reviews, 22 out of 74 are three Stars or less....that is nothing to brag about!
AWFUL Ruth's Chris

We were seated at the time we had reserved. The waiter was pushy and kept trying us to get glasses of wine while we decided on what bottle we wanted. The onion soup had burned toast in it, the ribeye steaks we real fatty. The left food to be brought home on the bottom of a tray for 15 minutes then tried to sneak it away to wrap. WAY over priced, quality was poor.
- Pros: Free Matches
- Cons: overpriced, food NOT worth the money, fatty steaks, burned toast in onion soup
Worst Service In Town
by cary_ite at Citysearch
Crowded, loud, with an unfriendly staff and the WORST SERVICE IN TOWN. This is not upscale dining.
- Cons: Unbelievably slow. Don't bother making reservations. You'll still have to wait.
Two Thumbs Down

Fine dining should include excellent service. This restaurant misses the mark completely. We arrived on time for our 8PM reservation but had to wait 30 minutes to be seated. The curt hostess did not direct us to a bar or waiting area or even a chair. We found a bar on the 2nd floor, (the 1st floor bar was standing room only) where the bar tender yelled over our heads at a passing waiter that she was out of high ball glasses. We passed the time at the bar until we were seating at a table 8:30PM at which time I ordered a cup of hot tea and the waiter disappeared. At 8:45PM the manager appeared and we ordered drinks again along with our meal and asked where our waiter was. The manager took our orders and by 9PM I had a cup of tea. The meal finally arrived at 9:30PM (not delivered by our waiter). We asked to speak to the manager. I was too upset to eat. The waiter appeared around 9:45PM to ask why I wasn't eating. Since we were still waiting to speak to the manager, I said we were fine, trying to avoid a confrontation with him. The waiter needled me for more info saying he was "getting a bad vibe." His bullying did not help my mood. The manager arrived around 10PM wondering why we were upset. Besides the fact that it was 10PM on a Saturday night and I was trapped in hell, I explained that service was sub-par and there had been unacceptable waits at every step of the dining process. By now I had tears in my eyes and asked for the check, which he comped. This was my boyfriend's birthday. Please don't entrust any special occasion to Ruth's Chris. It is not fine dining. It is a Jack-in-the-Box with valet service. From the snotty hostess, to the screaming bartender, to the disappearing waiter, to the oblivious manager, Ruth's Chris in Cary, NC does not measure up.
poor quality for lots of money
by brin at Citysearch
We visited Ruth's Chris in Cary some months back and were very displeased with the quality of the steak, a filet which we had to send back once for proper cooking and then once it was returned, I found the steak, which was supposed to be a prime filet to be more like an end cut. When we spoke with management about this problem, we received a minimal apology and even worse after making a call and writing a letter received no response. We have lived in other metropolitan areas, including Kansas City, and know the quality of good beef. What a disappointment.....
Burnt

Worst Steak experience I ever had, No comparison to Angus Barn. Send steak back 3 times to get it right, never did, last time charred. Offered not much in resolution, Manager not too happy that we complained. First and last visit to here, greatly overpriced.
