Kind of pricey for so-so food
by LivLee
I didn't think there was anything special about the food. It's not bad but it's not worth the price or the "hype." I don't think the cupcakes were really special - nothing that you couldn't get at a grocery store bakery. The staff was fairly friendly and the atmosphere seemed nice enough. I do like that they have some choices on the menu that seem fairly healthy (or at least give you a fair shot at making healthier choices!) I won't turn down a meal there but I won't go out of my way to visit, either.
- Pros: good selection, tasty coffee
- Cons: food was just average
Horrible brunch-Great Cupcakes!
by weluv2eat247
This place is overrated, the food is bland, over or undercooked and definitely overpriced, but the kids love the cupcakes and I finally tried and and they are good! Great cake, great icing, not too sweet, but definitely sweet tooth satisfying.
- Pros: The CUPCAKES
- Cons: everything else, especially the price
Sunday brunch (food) is awful!
by fireplace05
We really don?t understand why this place got high reviews on ?City Search?.
The ?Carolina Bakery? reminded us of a cafeteria with a modern theme and the food absolutely had No Taste. We spent over $16.00 on brunch that was cold couldn?t finish because it was awful! (Country brunch and French toast with ham and cheddar cheese.) We were so dissatisfied we left and went somewhere else. I have lived in Raleigh for more than 30 years and have never been to a restaurant like this and been this dissatisfied.
The ?Carolina Bakery? management also might have their help not clean the windows when people are eating! I sure there is other times during the day it could be done.
Don?t believe ?City Search? raving reviews!
- Pros: None that I could see
- Cons: Brunch is awlful!
Fresh, Fun, and Reasonably Priced
by skhokiepack
YUM! Just tried this place for the first time and we were very pleased. For under $8, we got 1/2 a turkey sandwich (REAL shredded turkey, not that rubbery deli-meat kind, on fresh bread, with a nice dressing, sprouts, and lettuce), a cup of Broccoli-Cheddar Soup (delicious, creamy, and cheesy), a bag of pretzels, and 2 drinks. I typically don't like turkey sandwiches unless they're hot, but this one was perfect! For an extra $3 and change, we got a vanilla cupcake (good, but not amazing) and an "inside out peanutbutter cup" (AMAZING -- gooey and rich). Very full and it was very affordable.
The place itself is clean, cool, and the staff was friendly. I look forward to going back soon and trying something else!
- Pros: Clean establishment, fresh and delicious food, not too pricey
- Cons: Looks like it could get a bit crowded (parking and seating) during peak hours
great new salads!
by fenderchk720
The new salads are wonderful AND filling. I recommend the mediterranian salad. They have great vegetarian options as well as standard deli sandwiches. The only thing i don't like about this restaurant is that the bakery doesn't have many whole wheat or hearty grain baked goods.
- Pros: great salads
The Cafe Carolina Salad
by zeuserplants
I've told several friends the Cafe Carolina Salad is the best salad in town. Full of pungent gorgonzola, sugared pecans, sweet, fresh strawberries and crisp, tender lettuce, to name a few, the ingredients create a personality that won't quit. Consistently enjoyable, Cafe Carolina has a winning combination with this offering.
- Pros: Excellent food
- Cons: Too cold in the restaurant and staff not responsive to feedback
Best Salads in the triangle
by firenurhole
Their new Chicken Fiesta Salad is terrific, so much flavor and quality...welll worth the trip there. I hear that the Signature Salad is equally excellent. The staff is so friendly and helpful, you can alter your salad, sandwich, flatbread, just ask. You have to try this place!
Find fast, inexpensive and fresh-baked food at this Cameron Village cafe and bakery.

In Short
Order at the counter (standing in line next to an array of seasonal products for sale) and your meal is brought out to your cafeteria-style table. The bakery is the reason to come here. Everything is freshly baked--desserts, muffins, brownies, bread. Every sandwich comes with bread baked on location. The two specialty sandwiches are the Jimmy V hero, a mound of Italian meats and provolone on a crusty baguette.
GREAT Lemon Bars and Salads
by tsebkn0087
I make a special trip once or twice a week just to swing by to purchase the delicious lemon bars. Definitely the best dessert on the menu.
- Pros: Salads and Desserts
- Cons: The hours. When I have to work late it's difficult to get to the restaurant before 8pm
