Nice Romantic Atmosphere, Amazing Cooking
by scorp2111
My wife and I decided to celebrate her birthday here. After drinks in a newly opened cocktail bar next door (Brooklyn Heights?), we sat down for dinner. Note that Bistro 607 recently changed hands and is now a Spanish restaurant with some French accents. Despite it being Friday evening on Memorial Day weekend, the atmosphere was quiet and romantic. For starters she had a small salad and I had bruschettas (named something else in Spanish). Main courses were chicken skewers (hers) and lamb shank (mine). Wine was Spanish Rioja for $30. The service and food were all excellent, at the highest level we could expect. My wife even said this is the best chicken skewers she ever tasted - given her 25+ years of experience cooking, that can be taken as the highest compliment. The bill came out to just over $100 for 2 including wine and dessert - very reasonable.
If you are the type of diner who expects gigantic servings with sides, and measures value by the quantity of food, this place is not for you. But if you appreciate great food in a romantic and friendly setting (European bistro style), run before the secret gets out.
- Pros: Everything
- Cons: Nothing
Best in town

This is one of my favorite restaurants in town. The dishes, desserts, wine, atmosphere, service, location, all good. Ask the wait staff for recommendations, they know what they're talking about. Reservation recommended.
Never a disappointment!!

Romantic Locale, Great Service, Average Food

My husband and I didn't know where we would go for our anniversary dinner so we headed downtown in search of romance. We drove past Bistro 607 and something about the place made us stop: quaint house, outdoor seating, candle light glowing from the white linen tables inside. At 7PM on a Saturday night, I was surprised that we could get in without a reservation. We were able to choose a small table tucked in the corner. The lighting and music were just right. The waiter was very attentive and professional. I hoped the food was just as wonderful. And as much as I wanted it to be, it was not.
The salad that we ordered was doused in salt. My husband struggled through his, but I returned mine (which the waiter did quite promptly.) For dinner, I ordered the salmon entree (with less salt) and my husband ordered the steak. My salmon was OK (still salty) as was the steak my husband ordered. He did like the preparation of the spinach that came with his meal. The dessert was also quite good.
All in all, we LOVED the atmosphere. It was indeed romantic and the service was top notch. But the food was average...not spectacular, which is too bad bacause so many others things were just right about this place.
- Pros: Romantic & Great Service
- Cons: Salty Food

In Short
Bistro 607's bay window and rustic sign might be easy to miss, but diners are greatly rewarded once they find it. Plain wooden chairs are populated by diners who prefer a slower pace. This bistro's quaint atmosphere, personalized service and attention to food make it a place worth revisiting. The menu, based in classic French cooking, issmall, select and changes monthly. As an entree, the venison with juniper gin gastrique is tender and succulent.
It's a date!

After a stressful morning at the office, one of my FAVORITE people in the world kidnapped me and took me to Bistro 607 for lunch. I instantly fell in love with the place! The food was outstanding, the service was impeccable (one look at my stressed out demeanor, and the waiter offered a much needed glass of wine), and the intimate atmosphere is perfect! We had such a great experience that we've made a standing monthly lunch date!
- Pros: foie gras, wine list, service
Finest cuisine available!

After being recommended by a friend to this restaurant, I am officially hooked! Everything we enjoyed was delicious, service was perfect, and the atmosphere was romantic and luxurious, but absolutely comfortable (even in jeans). I really enjoy food, and I think this is some of the best food I have ever enjoyed, hands down! My husband and I dined on lobster bisque, foie gras, a mouthwatering duck, and seared scallops, and that was before we even get to the dessert. He had a chocolate dessert and I had a frech pastry dish with almonds, ice cream, and a chocolate fudge. Totally devine! It was a special occasion, but the prices were reasonable. I am counting the days until we get to dine there again! Did I say I would highly recommend it :-)
- Pros: Menu, Atmosphere
One of my favorite places
by stefk_23
I love this restaurant! I always get the chefs tasting - you get much more food for your dollar. It allows you to taste a little bit of this and that. There food is great, I love the little house. My husband an I go here a few times a year for special occassions. We always have great service.
Wonderful experience

Our experience was fantastic! The waiters were very attentive and knowledgeable - providing recommendations for wine, etc. The food was cooked to perfection. It's an old house, so it's a little crowded and can get a little warm (old a/c), but what a quaint, interesting, fun place to dine. Portions are very generous. This is not Bennigan's - the food is gourmet, so the quality is high and quantity is medium. However, I will say that the salads are HUGE - you may need to share. Desserts are wonderful - can you say profiteroles? Delish! The chef, Todd, knows his stuff! We'll definitely be back.
- Pros: selections offered, food quality, desserts
- Cons: parking, a/c - little warm, can be noisy
I love this restaurant.

The atmosphere and service here is fantastic. This is my favorite restaurant in all of Raleigh. The lunch menu is always a great deal and the staff always makes you feel right at home. The food here is unbelievable but their desserts are out of this world.
- Pros: atmosphere, service, excellent food
