Lucky Find!!

by jakmeyer

This boutique is wonderful for someone like me who gets overwhelmed by high-pressure sales people and excessive racks of stock gowns. I was treated well, and even after going to all the other gown stores, I returned to Victorian Rose, where I found my dream dress. Alterations were professionally completed, and I did not pay until I was satisfied. If you decide to order one of the beautifully constructed hand-sewn veils (LOVELY and ELEGANT), order well in advance. My veil almost didn't make it in time for the portrait...panic attack waiting to happen, but my fault, not the staff's fault.

So far so good...

by Chelcyds

I am a HUGE STICKLER for customer service so I will be completely up front with my review...so far. My best friend and maid of honor had to convince me that Victorian Rose was a fitting place to look. I had a limited budget and did not want to feel like I was wasting anyone's time, including mine. I had my hesitations, I thought the staff would be snotty and no one would want to help me. Not the case. I had a great experience. I called the day before and confirmed my appointment and the woman who answered the phone was very very nice. Upon arriving I was introduced to Shannon and she was GREAT! She immediately asked what I "envisioned" and started pulling dresses. She helped me for 2.5 hours and focused solely on me. She was not stuck up and was not phased by my limited budget. She helped me, made suggestions and made the experience wonderful for me, my mom and my bridesmaids. I will say, after reading the reviews, I sincerely HOPE that the great service continues. Fingers crossed!

  • Pros: Shannon was awesome, Found my dream dress
  • Cons: None, yet (fingers crossed)

one thing after another

by usuallydramafree

Pursuant to their website, I made an appointment to look at bridal gowns. When I arrived there was an employee ready to help me and she did, for about 10 minutes, then another customer came back into the store and apparently this customer seemed more promising to her and I was abandoned. I looked at dresses for another 15 minutes and no one else would help me bc I had already been "claimed"...Finally, after my insistance, another employee began to assist me. The service was not outstanding but adequate, however, I found the perfect dress. It was off the sales floor BUT I was assured and was convinced that it was brand new out of the box that day. I inspected the dress and could tell that it had not been tried on and it was in great condition...so i bought the dress...

My mistake was leaving it in the store after I had purchased it. I called 4 weeks later to pick up the dress for a bridal portrait and when I went to pick it up I was told that "steaming the dress caused the dust to create stains" and "since I had bought the dress of the sales floor that is why there were now stains on the front of the dress". They also told me that it was typical for off the sales floor dresses...Basically I was made to feel that it was my fault, yet I was given no warning about this when I purchased the dress. They were not apologetic and it seemed ludacris that my once mint condition dress now had lines running down the front of it..I was forced to pay 100 dollars to get it dry cleaned...I'm not sure the problem is fixed now. I pick up the dress soon and am praying that the dry cleaning fixed it...Basically, you can't trust anyone and there is always an excuse...don't leave your dress with them to store and don't get them to steam it.

  • Pros: found a dress
  • Cons: paying 100 dollars to clean a dress that never left store

Wonderful Service!

by Casie81509

I had a wonderful experience at Victorian Rose. Melissa and Rachel were more than great with me. I did not know what styles I liked so Melissa helped me pick out a few suggestions (she even guided me to the clearance section!) She listened to my budget price as well.

I also ordered my bridesmaids dresses from there, which was so easy. The best thing was that Victorian Rose price matches! My Dresses I bought for the girls were $215.00 at the store so Melissa suggested I look online and they would price match. I found them for $115.00 and when I told her, she said, "Okay, then that is what we will charge" no questions asked!

I felt like a valued customer the moment I went in the store. My fittings, portrait cleaning and re-cleaning all went smoothly. The girls made me feel beautiful every time I tried my dress on and they remembered who I was when I would call or visit. I highly recommend this salon.

I have read some of the negative reviews on here and I think people need to be a little more open-minded...when you work with professionals, you should trust their opinion. I highly recommend this salon!!!

Very nice Gowns/Veils and Very Poor Customer Service

by KnowledgeHelps

I have read a few reviews and I understand the mixed reactions of the dress shopping experience here. I had fortunately found my dress at another shop (store in FV) but was looking for accessories and veils at VR. Victorian Rose has a VERY nice selection of veils at VERY reasonable prices. I knew I wanted to order a very traditional and "simple" veil as my dress was the true detail for my day.

I ordered the Veil 2.5 months ago! It was simple, 1 tier and Ivory. Enough said. I paid and left and was expecting a call within 2 weeks as the girl in the shop said (the one with the Yonkers accent). No Call.

June comes and goes. July is flying by.

I decided to give a ring last week and the Yonkers Lady told me it wasn't in yet but it would be in the next shipment so they would call me. No Call.

I called again - non descript lady told me it was not in and she did not see on my order slip they were to call me (??) but she would check the status and call me back. No call.

I called again on Monday the 27th of July and let the person on the phone know my first dress fitting was coming up on Friday of this week. She said not to worry and they would call me back. K called back and stated not to worry, the order was placed and I would have my veil by Friday and could pick it up this week. So I called again on Tuesday the 28th and was told by a lady (cannot remember name) that she looked through box 1 and it was not in box1 so would call back after looking through big shipment box 2. No call (see a pattern here?)

I decided since the shop is open until 7 to go in. K had to help me and she looked around back. FINALLY someone admitted to me that they had received my order but she could not find it. "I was not their bride..." - I guess if you buy a dress there it is better? And so she could not find where it was stored.

Long story short, I got my Veil on Thurs July 30th - 2.5 months after I ordered it. As I told K on Tuesday night, I am more concerned about the lack of communication and call back than I am about a Veil.

So - please read this and go to Victorian Rose but realize that they do not look to make you feel special, like a bride, and gush over you. They see you as a customer, they give you merchandise and you leave.

Should I finish with, as I was given my Veil last night and it was handed to me wrapped up, I thought maybe I should look at it before I leave the store. As I unwrapped the packaged to check it out (and what bride wouldn't be excited!!!! Girls, this is your time!), the girl (the one that calls you Sweetie all the time) asked me "Is that the right one?" - This is the red flag that the store is not used to things going smoothly.

My entire shopping and planning experience has been smooth. This has NOT rattled me. I suggest you go in and look at the beautiful dresses, accessories, shoes and veils they do have - but do it with plenty of time and know, for the same price you can go someone else and be treated FAR FAR better. But if you find the dress of your dreams here, then just know what you are in for.

  • Pros: Beautiful designers/selection
  • Cons: Extremely poor customer service

What a horrible place...Please don't go there.

by victorianrosehater

Ok, where do I begin? I'm not one to write reviews, but if you are thinking about buying your dress from these people, YOU ARE OFF YOUR ROCKER. They have been the most UNprofessional women we have ever come in contact with. They promised several times that my dress would be in on a certain date and those came & went, would make up excuses for their problems, promise us they were changing management and to be patient with them, the alterations person screwed up the hem of my dress (it is higher on one side than the other). BUT most of all, they are so disrespectful...it is truly pitiful. We did end up getting all of our merchandise, and we did end up leaving with a wedding gown and bridesmaids dresses, but all with frowns on our faces. When I first walked into the shop after they called to let me know my dress was finally in, they asked for my name and when I told them who I was, the girl at the front rolled her eyes and walked away (I am not kidding). We probably were a pain in the rear having to call once a week to check on the status of the dresses, but it was the only way to get anything done. It doesn't matter if you spend $10 or $10,000 in a store, you should never walk away feeling the way we did. And from the looks of things, they are doing this to people all over the area everyday. I wish when I was in for my fittings I would have stuck my head in the dressing room next to mine and saved the girl looking for her perfect gown a lot of heartache. This wedding will be perfect no matter what happens...it's just ashame the only problem we have had...is with this pathetic bridal salon. They are only after your wallet...care nothing about your wedding. If you choose to buy your dress here...bless your soul. I wish I hadn't. My fiance said I could wear white sweatpants and he wouldn't care. Don't let them entice you like they've done the rest of us. Find another salon! Fast!

Don't spend your money here!

by NCSU09

After a friend of mine ordered her wedding dress from here, the customer service went downhill. I was referred here for my bridesmaid dress, and after talking on the phone several times, and being measured in the store itself, everything was still wrong. They did nothing to try and fix it, nor offer to pay for anything. After they have your money, you can expect nothing from them!

Don't expect much after they have your money

by JLM07

Well, my first experience was GREAT! The owner, who everyone seems to dislike, was the one who helped me during my first visit. I thought she was great and I found the perfect dress. I liked the place so much I ordered my bridesmaids dresses there too. Then it all went downhill. After waiting 5 mths I go for my first fitting & they've ordered the wrong dress! The owner didn't even acknowledge it. When I called in the next day to see what they were going to do they blew it off like it wasn't a big deal. Told me I'd have my new dress in a week. A month later (during which I had to call in check in - they never called me) it finally came in. When I went to try it on I realized they ordered a size smaller than they were supposed to. Again, no apology - just a "no big deal" attitude. When the bridesmaids dresses came in one of those was the wrong size...again, no big deal. I called to let them know I was coming to pick up the dress & when I got there they told me they didn't have a room but for me to go home, try it on and if I had any problems to bring it back. Seriously, I'd already been back a dozen times because of their screw ups! They were great early on but once they had my money it was as if they didn't have time for me. They have great dresses if only they'd put a little more effort into customer service!!

  • Pros: The dress

NOT GOOD!

by PretzelLady

First of all, I have never felt compelled to write a review, however I feel that one is necessary. And for the record, I don't know who the owner is and I have nothing personally against them. I'm just a soon-to-be-bride that had a bad experience and I will not be doing business at Victorian Rose. I made an appointment and on the phone the girl made one thing clear: that my appointment could only last ONE HOUR. That is fine, but it did leave a bad taste in my mouth. I got there on time because I knew I would have to rush. I was so excited because it was my first time trying on wedding dresses!! Do they care that trying on dresses is special for the bride? Hell no, they don't!! After 20mins of browsing through dirty, gross dresses, I was told that my consultant was running a bit behind (and there was some lame excuse given, quite frankly I was lied to). When she asked if I had found any dress, I told her, "yes, I did find one in the center." The girl looked at me like I was crazy and said, "Only one?! Ah......okay." Well, I am sorry for not being worth YOUR time! I didn't want to try on those dirty dresses anyway because they look stank and contaminated!

I just picked up my gown from Victorian Rose Bridals yesterday after having it cleaned and preserved. My experience was wonderful and the customer service was great. The employees asked me to go out here and post because there was an disgruntled employee that kept making false remarks about the owner and her business. I am a true bride and I read the last review doesn't that person know "KARMA" will get them and to watch out..... I hope all brides shop around then try Victorian Rose because you will have a true bridal experience!!!!
