If this is the best, I hate to see the worst

by lilnica at Citysearch

My husband and I were on a search to find good sushi in the Triangle area, Sushi Thai came highly recommended. Hoping for sushi comparable to that we have had in the past we took the advice of the ratings and recommendations. One word described our experience: DISAPPOINTMENT. We were seated fairly quickly in the cramped restaurant. After about 15 minutes, my drink order finally arrived (after reminding the server twice). The sushi rolls have interesting names, unfortunately that was the only noteworthy part. Our sushi rolls arrived and the Dragon Roll, the Spicy Tuna Roll and the Crazy Roll were all a disappointment. It was almost as if the fish had been sitting out all day. I have had fresher sushi from the grocery store!! The ginger accompanying the sushi was over pickled, maybe to make up for the fact that it too had been sitting around. And the sauce that covered the Dragon Roll had a taste and consistency similar to that of the Special Sauce on a Big Mac. Save your money, for sushi...GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

  • Pros: The decor, quick seating
  • Cons: The food and service

Gotta be kidding me

by darkblue99 at Citysearch

For all you sushi newbies, sushi and Thai does NOT mix. It is a way for non-Japanese restaurants to increase spending per customer, since sushi commands a high price relative to cost.

If a Thai restaurant respects Thai culture and serves kick-ass Thai food, then there's no place for sushi. Have you seen a Japanese restaurant serving Thai?? NO!!!

Wake up people - it's all in the marketing.

Don't get hooked by "stylish" ads and imaging. Sushi is sushi. Thai is Thai.

  • Pros: Can serve people who are confused about Asian cuisine
  • Cons: The Real Thai and Sushi are served elsewhere

Bad Service

by Kinyii at Citysearch

The wait staff made many mistakes and did not apologize for any of them. They messed up my food order and then they asked me if I could eat it. One of my friend order was completely missing, so he started to eat when the rest of us was almost finish with the meal. Everyone at the table was very dissapointed with the service and agreed that the Sushi Thai in Raleigh provides a better service. Since we were a big party, the gratuity was included, which could be a reason why they didn't provide a good service.

Overpriced letdown

by MonAccount at Citysearch

I've tried several dishes from several parts of the menu. All were overpriced and average. The Thai curries were ok, but relative to Sawasdee et. al., should be considered awful. The sushi was better, but Sushi Blues tastes better. The stir-fries were fine, but no better than an average restaurant. Nice atmosphere and service, but for the price I wouldn't recommend it to anyone but the curious... better can be had at other restaurants.

  • Pros: atmosphere, location, service
  • Cons: overpriced, food is just ok
