always awesome
by apato
I have been eating here for a long time and the presentations have been getting prettier and prettier. The sushi always looks like artwork and the service is awesome. We went with a party of 8 and they had the automatic gratuity but that's the same pretty much wherever you go if it's a nice place. It's always worth it!
- Pros: nice atmosphere, awesome presentation
Awesome sushi. Great service
by m15t3ry
Best sushi I've experinced in ten states and counting.
The Screaming O and Hurricane rolls are awesome.
I never knew I loved Sake until Mura's extensive Sake menu blew me away. I've never had bad service, and only feel bad that it took me this long to post this review.
- Pros: Best sushi in Raleigh. Hands down.
- Cons: Very popular. Reservations are a must.

I have been to Mura at least Six times. They have good Sushi not the best in town by any stretch but great atmosphere accounts for a lot. Recently I went with a group of six, which entitles them to an auto 20% gratuity. I am usually a 25-30% guy WHEN EARNED. I think the fact that it was known it would be added regardless spoke to the server who was LAZY, absent, and slow. I may return and if I do and it is with a group I will insist on Grat not be auto added.
- Pros: Great Sushi
- Cons: Auto gratuity taken for granted
Awesome hot spot

I've been coming here since they opened, and the place never disapppoints. The rolls are awesome, and the newer additions keep it fresh. I'm sorry but the Hurricane roll is amazing. I know it's not old school sushi but I don't care- it's ridiculously good stuff. They have enough to offer people who don't eat sushi regularly, which is nice. I myself like all the hardcore raw goods but it's tough to get my parents and some friends on board. The new selections make it easy to keep almost everyone happy. Our family has grown since they opened the doors, so I would like to ask the management to consider something for the kids. Servers are great at finding kid-friendly sides like french fries, but my kid won't touch most of what we eat and maybe some kid's selections would go a long way. Love the new beers by the way- keep up the good work.
- Pros: Great rolls
- Cons: Need child's menu

Sure it's beautiful, but you can't eat atmosphere. I have been coming here for years and it is a great bar scene on Fri/Sat nights. But for lunch any day of the week, it is just ok. The service is slow and not particularly attentive. The sushi is sometimes made messily, even during non-peak times. But the thing that irks me is how often the tables feel icky or sticky even though they have been wiped down. Does not inspire confidence. That said, the food is good, but not wow.
- Pros: location, decor
- Cons: service, cleanliness
Best place in Raleigh PERIOD

Artistic Food and Excellent Service!

I eat at Mura on a regular basis, and believe that I have been waited on by almost every server available. Each and every server is extremely attentive, and knowledgeable about what the restaurant has to offer. Visit the lounge/sushi bar for a cool, and casual atmosphere, or the dining room for a more intimate feel. The food is absolutely outstanding. Last visit, I had the hard rock, and the piano roll. The sushi plate was a beautiful work of art, decorated with carrot butterflies; each piece of the roll placed perfectly to display true beauty. I have also had food from the hot kitchen. The Seabass is amazingly flavorful, and finished with a tomato flower. I have to say every time I visit Mura is especially unique, and truly a wonderful dinner. Come to Mura if you would like a relaxed, and flavorful dinner.
- Pros: Food, Service, Atmosphere
- Cons: none i can think of
Great Food but terrible service
by cbcreative
I've been going to Mura for years. Great food, but it comes at a price! Not only have they raised their prices across the board, the people get less friendly every time I go. The overall service is NOT where it once was. It takes forever to get your food. You can't have lunch there anymore if you only have an hour! :( If you have a party of four or larger you will be there for hours. Sadly the negative out way the pros. It's just not worth it anymore.... there are so many great places to dine! Pick another!
- Pros: Food
- Cons: Service & Price
Average Sushi, Great Drinks, Great Dessert
by orenishii
If you are looking for a place to hang out for drinks and dessert with friends, Mura has a good location. I went with a friend for sushi, which was decent, but average (I had the dragon roll). The waitress we had tonight was very nice, and the speed of service was fine. The miso soup was good, though I didn't like the seaweed, it was a bit slimy, which it shouldn't be. My friends salad with ginger dressing had more of a honey mustard/creamy flavour (I prefer a more traditional ginger dressing). The Asian Pear Cocktail though was Very yummy - it tasted like a sweet pear, not too sweet, and not overpowered by alcohol. The milkyway layered cake was also SO good and the presentation was lovely, but definitely good to split since it was a large piece. The prices were a bit high for the quality of the food, but fine for the drinks and dessert - and you are paying for the atmosphere too. I would recommend Mura for a drinks and dessert hangout, though maybe not for dinner - though I would most likely still get a sushi roll :)
- Pros: Yummy Drinks and Dessert
Great service, excellent cocktails, average food
by katharine323
This was my first visit to Mura, and I was quite pleased. The service was exceptional, and our server was able to offer excellent suggestions when asked her opinion. They have an excellent Asian Pear cocktail - wow! A friend and I came for sushi, which we had, but weren't too impressed with the rolls. The presentation was lovely, but nothing exceptional as far as the quality and originality of the sushi. Not the best sushi in town, but I certainly was not disappointed. I would definitely be interested in coming back and trying some of the large dinner plates. Mura has an excellent looking menu. The atmosphere was eclectic and unique. The dimly lit lounge and bar are quite trendy and comfortable. This is certainly a great place to go after work with friends, on a date, or to take out of town guests to.
- Pros: Very trendy atmosphere, excellent service, and creative cocktails
