thought place was just interested in signing a contract and getting your money! wish I had read some of the reviews before going in. went to another planet beach and they were rude and again pushed to sign contract!! never did tan and never would with any Planet beach tanning salons...

they will do anything to get you to sign a contract....they are liars and do NOT honor their word!!! They told me to fill out a form to tan and the next thing I know I am getting charged monthly and in a 2yr contract!! There is NO customer service....they DO NOT care about the customer after they get your money!! If you do have a problem forget any customer service, especially from the owner....I will never recommend this place!! Please beware...
Of course I was upset, and I did say my husband would be upset as well because my credit card was declined the day I came in the store and then billed when there was money in my account (as a result I got several overdrafts on my account)
Jenny NEVER said anything about a 2yr contract...we only talked about a 1yr contract but because my card was declined I assume what I had signed was voided.
She had the paper work with my credit card info, I had to leave the store but said I would try to come back with cash or another card!! Sounded like to me we would have to fill out another form when I came back. I was not able to return so 2 days later Jenny called back asking if I was still interested in tanning and my form was still LAYING around with my credit card info. I advised her to just rip it up and she said she would.
2 weeks later I notice my card had been charged twice. So when I went in to the store, Jenny remembered me and our conversation..said she would call the owner and TAKE CARE of this for me. She went in the back to call the owner, came back and said sorry, they advised you signed a contract and they will maybe cancel it and waive the 50.00 fee.
The manager did NOT honor her word......period!!! Customer service is so important today and everyday....the customer should ALWAYS be treated with respect......they are YOUR bread and butter!

The FACTS,The owner gladly spent over half an hour on the phone with Laura helping her out. PB offers single session all the way to memberships. Laura chose the 2 yr membership and signed for it in 2 places on the agreeement. 2 months after signing she called to cancel. The form she signed clearly states there is a cancellation fee and 30 days notice to cancel early. Laura said "her husband was very upset with her for doing this and they have no money" I understood she was upset so I gladly waived the cancellation fee and the 30 day notice and I even refunded one month of dues to her credit card. I also left an in store credit on her account for one month (she had only paid for 2 months total) that she can use anytime she wants to come in and use our services again. ESSENTAILLY LAURA WAS CHARGED NOTHING. When we ended the conversation I assumed she was okay with what we agreed upon. As we do with all customers, we truly tried our very best to make this customer happy.

I went to Planet Beach in Brier Creek VERY frustrated ! I have a medical condition that required me to either take chemo for a second time or to give a shot at tanning. When I arrived there nervous and scared because tanning was not something that I had ever done or believed in, one of the owners was there to lend a very kind hand. I was given pros and cons to tanning, they understood my situation and they were very educated ! WOW that was incredible I would have never thought that someone would have understood me and took the time to help me make the right decision for me and my health. When stepping back and considering the other option it was going to be NO more expensive for me to go there and tan than it was for me to go visit the doctor every month and pay for chemo. I have had the chance to get to know everyone there to the point that I know a little about each of them.... and what a great staff they have there !!!!! They are always kind, helpful, and willing to answer any questions that I may have. And address my concerns immediately. Way to go Planet Beach (Brier Creek) ! Keep up the good... hard work :)

This place is a joke

I will never go a Planet Beach again. I tried out the one down the road from Crabtree. The prices were a bit higher than most places. Staff was ok. It was busy though. They wouldn't let me make appointments that were convenient with my schedule. I tried the Planet Beach at Brier Creek. The staff was very pushy and they tried to get as much money out of me as they could. They weren't listening to my needs. They tried to sell me something that was 80 bucks a month for TWO years. I just needed a little color for a trip i was going on with a few of my girlfriends. They did not mention any other way of tanning except for these two year memberships. NOT IN THIS ECONOMY. I knew i could get just a few sessions because the crabtree location informed me of this. They are liars and scammers. The owner is very rude as well. HORRIBLE customer service, way overpriced, non-welcoming atmosphere, and the beds always had fingerprints all over the top of them.

Never will I go to a Planet Beach Tanning Salon, nor will any of my friends. I had the same exact problem as others . When it comes to there contracts, they are shady. They tell you if you ever want to freeze your account that it's only $5,....but they only do it for one month. Then, they charge you $60 a month after that one month rather you're around to use it or not. So I went back in and chose to cancel and pay the $50 fee to do so. I finally thought I was done after canceling with them. But oh, no, I check my credit report and they sent $450 to a collection agency. They said I signed up for a year and never paid the last couple of months! That's bc I canceled with them!!!! Plus they have no record of me cancelling,.....how suiting for them! They said I was done and good to go. But apparently not. Bc now I'm out $450 for only using about 2-3 months of tanning.
Do not go here, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else where the contracts are waaaaay more reasonable. They do anything to get your money, and forget important details......or don't cancel your account all together, even when they've been paid to do so!
Oh yeah, and they only got one star by me,...bc zero isn't an option

At Planet Beach customers can choose anyway they want to tan and spa with us. We offer sessions, packages and memberships. Should someone decide to take advantage of our memberships we will thoroughly go through the membership before you sign. We hope customers don't cancel but in the event they do they simply have to fill out a cancellation form. We do this so we all have a record of the cancellation. We give all customers a copy of the formand we save a copy. We also make detailed records of the cancellation in our system. We have the same process for freezes. We do this so there are no issues for you. If for some reason any charges occur after you have properly cancelled or froze please bring in any documention (cancellation form, visa statement, anything) and we will happily refund any charges.

Beds were nice, prices ridiculous

I moved to Raleigh a few months ago to the Brier Creek are and was excited to know a tanning salon was so close to me. I went in and tried out the beds and they were great. But when I asked how much the packages were I couldn't believe it. I moved here from Chicago, and even tanning out there isn't this ridiculous! I found a tanning salon around the corner with beds that aren't as crazy looking, but the quality is just as great and the price is HALF. If you don't mind shelling out an insane amount of money to stand inline for a spaceship looking bed this place is great, but shop around, you will find places just as good for a fraction of the price. This place s a chain, so of course they are going to charge you an arm and a leg.

I just love this place. They are very busy but they get me in and out. The staff are very helpful and the owners are always there to make sure everything goes smoothly!! It's clean and friendly and I get great results. I love the place and highly recommend it.!!

BEWARE of the Contract - Get EVERYTHING in writing

Make sure you read the fine print of the contract and get several employees to confirm everything regarding policies. I became a member in 2008 (with a two-year contract). I was told that I could just let them know when I want to freeze the account (as long as it was by a particular date) and it would be put on hold. I just had to let them know when to remove it from hold. I was also told that I could cancel at anytime for $50. I was being signed up by a new employee (which is no longer with the store). I didn't realize that she was not informing me properly. I travel a lot for work and knew I was going to be out of the country for several months. I called and talked to the manager. He said I have to sign a form stating I was going to freeze my account (which I was never told). I explained to him that I was leaving the country and wouldn't be able to stop by the location to sign. He said he would take care of it and he did. However, he only froze my account for one month. Never was it explained that it was only going to be but on hold for ONLY one month. I had been traveling and after getting settled back in town noticed that my bank account had been charge the full monthly fee for two months. I called immediately and found it was only put on hold for one month and that the new hold policy was only three months per request. I do not know why it was only put on hold for one month. I spoke to the manager (the same one I had originally spoken to) - he spoke with the owner. I called the headquarters. The only solution was that they would give me back half of what was taken. HALF!!! I don't understand why I was being penalized for employee mistakes. 1 - they need to make sure the employees are explaining the contracts properly, 2 - I did not use the service for those two months, I should have received a full refund BEWARE OF THE CONTRACT, 3 - two monthly fees ($80) and an additional $50 to cancel - so in total I paid $130 to cancel my contract.

I went in for the first time Sept 14th and was greeted immediately by a smiling attendant. She helped me the entire time I was in there. I tried the Spa Bed, then a bed that gave me a facial then I went into the Mystic Spray Tan booth. It was so relaxing! I loved it. My skin looked so good after the treatments. It made my skin much softer and took the stress of the day way. The cost was way cheaper then where I was going. I highly recommend this place!
