Awesome!
by ncsugrad06
Never been a member of a gym before and for the past couple of years I've been wanting to join one. I've gone to check out a couple in the past; Planet Fitness, Gold's Gym etc..and had the worst experience with the people working there. I'm the kind of person that when I walk into a place, if I don't feel comfortable with the people AND where I am...I won't even consider it. I called O2 Fitness (which is around the corner from where I work) and spoke with Chelsea. I met her later that evening and she was extremely nice, accomodating, and knowledgeable of O2 Fitness' product. I came in the next day for an assessment and loved the trainer! I signed that day. Being a student, they do have discounts for student which the price is perfect for a tight budget! I love the atmospher and people. The locker rooms are always clean and comfy. I never have to wait for a machine and the trainers are extremely helpful. I highly recommend this place for those who have never worked out before and those that have. No intimidation here!
- Pros: Feel Comfortable, great location, great equipment
- Cons: parking
Business management a total bust!
by rlpsanford
Billed $25 for "annual equipment maintenance". A contract provision I didn't like but the convenience of the Southern Village (Chapel Hill) facility was important enough to let it pass. I have spent many years in business and have never experienced such an indifferent and calloused approach to customer satisfaction. The facility itself is a pleasant place, but just another fitness center with their choice of brand for machines. I was required to give credit card information tor billing for the annual fee (wait a minute! I am already paying an annual fee for use of the facility!! A substantial amount I must say compared to others clubs I have joined in the past! Shouldn't that handle wear and tear on the facility?). The credit card caused the problem! In March, April and May my credit card was charged $25 and the payee was shown only as "Checkfree". Each time I challenged the payment to my bank which suspended it and asked me to check with Checkfree. I did. They had no idea why or who had charged my account. After the April charge I canceled my credit card and was reissued another. That is when I found out who the mystery biller using "checkfree" was: O2 Fitness!! I found out because I received a nasty letter from them saying the payment was not honored AND that I not only owed $25 but a service charge of $25! I marched to the club, immediately got a blunt "you should have read your contract, we charge you a$25 fee, etc" I got a number to call, called it, left a message asking that the call be returned. Never happened! The regular manager (off for her birthday the day before) had been called about the phone message I left and explained it was all a mistake, "the computer did it!". . THEN! in June, yep, another dunning letter! As far as I am concerned they broke the contract in a number of ways and I want a refund for 4 months of the year remaining (I foolishly paid in advance), HAH, they say! They did refund $50 they wrongfully appropriated!
- Pros: Good hours, clean, suitable equipment
- Cons: No frills at all! (Sauna, whirlpool, etc.)
Horrible Customer Service
by sknielsen
This is the first time I've ever posted a review on here, but I am SO disappointed in the complete unprofessionalism of the staff at this club (Raleigh) that I had to post one. I joined the club and decided to go month to month to see if I liked it. I was told that there's a 30 day cancellation notice required, but that really, if I notified them by the 15th of the month, they would be able to cancel by the end of the month. On the 2nd of May, my friend (who joined with me) and I both sent e-mails asking them to cancel our memberships. My friends was cancelled with no problems and I assumed mine was, too. At the end of May I got a card from the club welcoming me as a member. I figured after a month, they should have had my name off the membership list, so I e-mailed again asking for confirmation that it had been done. The beginning of June, I got my credit card statement showing that they charged me for the full month of June. I e-mailed a third time requesting a call back. A few days later I called and asked for the manager, who wasn't there and I left him a voice mail, explaining all this and asking for a call back. I went on vacation for a week and when I got back, I called the manager AGAIN and left him another voice mail asking for a call back, to cancel my membership and to reimburse me for June's dues which they charged me. It has now been SEVEN weeks since I first started requesting they cancel my membership and NO ONE at the gym has EVER returned even one of my phone calls or e-mails. I think I have been more than patient and have still never received any communication from them at all. I'm sure at this point, I'll be billed in July for another month that I will have to fight with them in order to get it refunded. Assuming I can ever get in touch with anyone there.
The gym itself is nice, but if you ever have an issue or want to cancel, be warned that you will never get anyone to respond to you.
- Cons: No one responds when you have an issue, been waiting 7 weeks to hear from them

O2 Fitness Cares Little For Customer Satisfaction
by ukkate
I joined O2 fitness 12/31 with a month to month membership as I knew I would be moving. I paid $50 to join and then $50 for the dues for Jan. Mid-way through Jan they billed me a $25 club assessment fee. I moved house Jan 31 and went into cancel my membership. They said that because I didn't give 30 days notice, I would be billed for Feb. I tried to talk to the manager but noone was willing to budge on this "contract clause". So, I paid $175 to work out at O2 fitness for 32 days!! What ever happened to customer satisfaction? I would've been tempted to re-join if they had opened one near my new home in Garner. But now I would never re-join, nor would I recomend this gym to any of my friends.
- Pros: Clean
- Cons: Too Expensive, Not enough classes
I've found my home.

I've worked out all over the Raleigh area. This place is number one ... hands down.
The trainers are excellent ... friendly and professional.
Good free weights, good machines, good spinning bikes. Everything's good. Excellent weekend hours. Usually not crowded.
Fitness with attitude!

I go to O2 Fitness in Cary! Wow! What a place. The latest state-of-the-art equipment and a staff second to none! Any business can supply great equipment but the staff at O2 Fitness in Cary is helpful, friendly and they know fitness. They are always willing to help show you how to use the equipment properly. They walk around the facility and offer words of encouragement and ask for 2 more :-)
I love this place!

- Pros: staff, equipment, atmosphere
True Inspiration
by michaelle
I have traveled and made use to many health club facilities, but none have compared to the quality I have found in the O2 Fitness Experience. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The Equipment is absolutely the newest and modern of technology. The atmosphere is that of a peaceful and serious mindset. You never feel as though you are in a meatmarket, unlike most health clubs, this facility offers a spa-like experience that just as they advertise is very much inspirational and refreshing. I would highly recommend this health club to help you achieve your fitness goals.
- Pros: Never crowded, Advanced Tech Equipmt, Wide Variety: Classes
Lovin' it..

Incredible equipment, especially at the Cary club. Using both the Raleigh and Cary clubs has been just amazing for my wife and I...I have never had workouts this good, and for the first time, she has found a club that lives up to her expectations...great service too
- Pros: equipment, personal trainers, amenities/towel servi
I'm amazed already!

I am not even a member yet as I wait for my Cary club to open in January, but in the visits I've paid to the other clubs, I am amazed. I did not know that health-clubs could be run like fine hotels with quality stafppersons throughout and impeccable service. I am in the service business too and feel gratified that there can be a club in our area that offers a high-end product.
- Pros: private, personalized service, equipment/decor
- Cons: slightly more $$
