One of the worst sushi restaurants in the triangle.

by mparka

This place looks fancy and nice but the food is just a joke. Their fish is smelly and the yellowtail sashimi had almost a green color...that means it's not even good for cooking!! Are you serious? The rolls are made like they don't care and the service...wow...a complete package of bad sushi restaurant.

  • Pros: The interior is nicely decorated
  • Cons: everything else... the green/brown yellowtail

Response from this business

The comments about our fish... If this was true we would not have

been in business for as long as we are.

Seems to me these comment are coming from the areas competition. Whom may it be they need to play fair.

Kitchen really messed up, but it was ok the next day.

by johnphilip

Took a coworker here on 1/7/09 and was pleasantly surprised to see the 2for1 roll prices. I've been here many times for lunch as their food is always good - if a little pricey. Note that the pricing is much better now. Staff is ALWAYS very nice and very friendly, but sometime not working on all cylinders. Wrong order delivered, delayed, etc.

However, service delays were BAD yesterday. Was seated promptly, and our drink & miso soup order was taken quickly, but it took almost ten minutes to get the drinks and the soup (which was only lukewarm). We placed our order when the drinks & miso came and twenty minutes later we had to call the waiter over to see why so long for four rolls. The table next to us was seated b4 us and had already finished their meal. He said the cooks had lost our order sheet. Yowtch! They gave us free salads while we waited another 5 minutes for the four rolls - which were very good.

Food is great, better priced, staff is friendly - but service times are are iffy. Taking another friend back there today for lunch - just because I trust that the fish is fresh and the rolls are tasty.

Wish us luck.

New information:

Resubmitted review two days later, adding a star. Service delivery problems were fixed when I went back the next day for another lunch. However, it didn't hurt that I had the same waiter.

  • Pros: food, staff
  • Cons: service delays

Disregard the reviews below

by KalGStone

Please disregard the pretentious comments below. Asuka is regarded as a hidden treasure of sorts; a great sushi place tucked away between Morrisville and Cary. It is far and away the best sushi / Japanese restaurant in the Triangle. To say that they should have no overhead costs because they're in Morrisville and not DC is arrogant and ignorant. The prices are fair considering the high quality of the food and fantastic service. For the previous reviewer to say that they "felt taken advantage of" sounds like a toddler throwing a tantrum, and to leave the restaurant after seeing the menu is, well, just plain rude. I highly recommend sushi lovers make the trip to check out all that Asuka has to offer.

Plain and simple...Bad buisness

by abzydxw

We ordered take-out from Asuka, where we really love their food; however, when we presented the owner with a gift certificate for the order he REFUSED to accept it! NO WHERE on the GC did it state "dine in only". To our dismay we purchased the food to not be wasteful, but vowed never to go again! The owner of Asuka not only lost our business, but we will be telling EVERYONE we know not to go there. What's the point in giving a GIFT if it will not be accepted.

  • Pros: great food
  • Cons: does not accept gift certificates for take out?!

GREAT PLACE

by ojedamoya

I got to go here for the first time the other night and must say I was very impressed with everything. The sushi was delicious and the service was friendly. I love sushi and would have to rate this one second or third on my list of places that I would recommend to a friend. I am not big on asian fusion type sushi, but I did like this. I am more of a traditional sushi person. I will definitely go back to eat again and I would definitely recommend this place to family and friends.

  • Pros: Not an over crowded place. It's a secret place in Morrisville!

Lousy prices...Atrocious service

by anonymous_5555

If you like waiting 30 minutes for sushi then this is the place for you. After 30 minutes of waiting, I got a lame asss excuse handed to me, and after getting compensated on the bill by only 10%, I don't think I'll be headed back.

  • Pros: None
  • Cons: Too many to list

What a restaurant.

by coolnhot111

I went back for the first time since the remodelling of the place. Wow!! Nice setting for a great dine-out. very clean and romantic. Fodd was delicious, but most of all, very fresh. The presentation was also good. People working there were very nice. I am definitely going back again with my girl friend. The price was a bit high, but worth it. I don't like cheap Japanese restaurant with cheap and loud people. Mmmm...had a great time.

  • Pros: Great food, great service.
  • Cons: Little longer time to be served.

  • Cons: Had to wait to be seated.

Up and down service and food quality. Used to be a very nice restaurant.

by zip14

I had ups and downs with this restaurant. I work near by so I visit frequently even if I had a bad experience. The food is good for most part. Sometimes you get a bad piece here and there but I guess to be expected in these tough times. Food I can handle but service is what gets me. I hold my self from complaining and arguing with them about anything much as possible. Its a good place to dine but just remember, no restaurant is perfect all the time.

  • Pros: Good food most of the time, inside is pretty
  • Cons: inconsistant food and service

Very stale sushi, not edible, not fresh, too expensive.

by isabel32

If you want stale smelly sushi, then this is the place. I know they have remodeled, and I had been here 4 times for lunches and had always really enjoyed the sushi. Tonight Nov 2nd, I cannot believe the low quality of fish I was served, for a $65 dinner. It was definitely my absolute last visit at Asuka. I do not recommend it.

  • Pros: Nice remodeled insides
  • Cons: Quality of sushi, Quality of fish, Quality of food!!!
