Following a rained out farmer's expo in 1940, N.C. State alum David Clark envisioned an indoor facility for the university, and in 1950 his dream came to fruition. Named for major contributor W.N. Reynolds (of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. fame) the arena quickly became a favorite destination for sporting events, university sponsored galas and even traveling circuses.
