DescriptionJapanese Thermal Straightening was created in response to today’s trend toward super straight, sexy hair. Many of our clients w/ wavy, curly hair want this look. Every time someone w/ curly hair shampoos their hair, they perform the same ritual of applying smoothing products, drying for thirty minutes on high heat w/ special brushes, then spending another thirty minutes w/ a flat iron to finally get the look they want. Afterwards, if it doesn’t rain or they don’t get too sweaty when they work out, it will last a couple of days. Japanese Thermal Straightening is a labor intensive process, using gentle chemicals to turn even the curliest hair into hair that is silky smooth & almost effortless to style. Many clients are able to just shampoo & go. Who wouldn’t want to save hours every week & look effortlessly fabulous? Once the Japanese Thermal Straightening is done the hair that has been straightened never needs to be treated again. The new growth will still come in curly though. A touch up on the new growth only needs to be done every 3-4 months. The process begins w/ a consultation prior to the actual service. Your stylist needs to determine if Japanese Thermal Straightening is the right process for your hair. They will also want to know about your lifestyle & will examine your hair to make sure it’s in optimum condition for this service. There are a number of steps required to straighten the hair & the amount of time & labor involved account for the high price tag. Most clients feel that the hours of time saved each week, spread over the months that this service lasts, more than justifies the expense. How much is your free time worth? At the beginning of your service your hair is gently shampooed & pre-treatments are applied. Then your hair is blown dry as straight as possible & meticulously straightened w/ an ionic flat iron. Next the first formula is applied to your already super straight hair. This formula penetrates the hair & begins breaking down the chemical bonds that hold your hair into its natural wavy/curly shape. The process is aided by lots of pulling, combing & smoothing. After about twenty minutes, the first formula is thoroughly rinsed from the hair. Depending upon the amount of curl that was initially present, the hair may be dried & flat ironed straight a second time. Next the second formula is applied to the now straightened hair. This formula reforms the broken bonds & aligns them into the new straightened shape. This formula is thoroughly rinsed out & a final treatment is applied. Your hair is finished w/ a cut, if needed, & then is blown dry & smoothed one last time w/ a flat iron. At this point you, the client, have some responsibilities for home care. Your hair cannot be shampooed for a full forty-eight hours after the service. Also, it is extremely important that you do not use any ponytail holders or clips, or wear hats or combs of any kind. The reason is that during those first forty-eight hours the hair may still have some chemical residue deep inside the shaft. Any pressure on the hair can cause a dent or crease that won’t go away. The waiting period gives the hair time to naturally finish oxidizing into it’s new, straight shape. Once the forty-eight hours are up, you simply shampoo & style & enjoy the extra time you have left every morning. If you have wavy, curly hair but want those flowing, sexy straight locks, Japanese Thermal Straightening is for you.
