Honestly the best in the triangle.
I've played magic in most of the game stores in the area and i've lived in the triangle for quite a while. Game Theory is the best one. It has the largest gaming area, and a huge clientele. FNMs are usually huge. This amount of players allows for a real diversity of people coming to play, both in terms of personal history and play skill. There are some really good players, but I usually do OK so i'm not bitter. Even the top level players there are friendly and helpful.
The best part is how the store is run. They have a great discount system for loyal patronage, and will open tabs for you if you are regular enough. All of the employees are great people. For instance, at an event, my wallet fell out of my pocket in an intense game, and one of the owners found it and returned it to me right away. I would have been in big trouble if he hadn't been so alert and helpful
They have lots of events so you'll find something fun for you, come on out
Will never go back to Game Theory.
I'm relatively new to the area and was excited to find a place like Game Theory. I called the store and asked if they sold MtG singles. The person I spoke to, Rob, said, "Yes", so I drove 45 minutes to the store. When I arrived Rob told me that he was too busy to sell singles (I had planned on purchasing ~$200 worth of cards).
I am normally thrilled to support brick and mortar entrepreneurs (especially in the gaming space), but I can guarantee that after wasting 1.5 hours of driving time (on a Saturday) I will never return to Game Theory and I will go out of my way to disuade anyone I know from doing so.
