Best Chinese in Raleigh – We have lived in the Triangle for more than 11 years, and this is the first Chinese restaurant I can say is good. The food just tastes better and more authentically flavorful than anywhere else, and we particularly enjoy the soup dumplings (which my daughter could live on, I think, if I let her), the ginger green beans, the sweet & sour chicken (which is not overly breaded and is thus loved by my sons), the wuxi spareribs, and the crispy tender beef with pepper sauce. I have a friend who's an adventurous eater and has really enjoyed the most authentic dishes, including the crispy scallops and the fish fillet in wine sauce, and he had one of the casseroles but I'm not sure which one. We've always had good service in the 6 or 7 times we've eaten there - it's true they may not be the friendliest people (though one of the waitresses is always very nice to my young kids), but we've certainly never had anyone be rude and have received good menu guidance several times. I would definitely recommend this restauran.

the only place for xiaolongbao – I have a nice feeling with this restaurant. The staff suggest some really good dish for our entire group.first, we tried their famous soup dumpling. The waitress told us that it is fresh made to order. I compare the dish with my experience in Shanghai, It is just as good or even beyond. I also tried the fish filet in wine sauce and boneless plum duck entree, It is fabulous. I will bring my family back again.

Bad Attitude and Rude Service – I heard that this place has "really good " Chinese food and was appalled at the rudeness of the waiter.

I asked for a spoon for my son and the waiter told me to use the fork that was on the plate of the entree. When I persisted for the spoon the waiter brought it out and tossed the spoon on the table with attitude. That was it. I told him I did not like his attitude and he argued with me that he brought me the spoon which was his job to begin with!

I am Chinese and have eaten all over the world, but I have never had a waiter having such a bad attitude over a spoon before. Avoid this place!

Awful Experience – We (three Chinese ladies) went to Asian Grill today, hoping to enjoy a good meal to celebrate the New Year. We had a coupon from a website zspotlight (you pay half to get a gift certificate for $25). When the owner saw the certificate, he became very unhappy, looking at it over and over and was saying he wasn’t sure if we could use it for lunch. When we pointed out there is no such restriction on the certificate, he became even more unhappy. He was very rude when we asked for his recommendations and the worst part is, after we have already ordered 4 dishes, he told us we had to order at least $38 worth of pre-tax food in order to use the certificate, and what we have ordered wasn’t enough, we needed to order one more dish. When we argued with him that there was no such restriction either, he told us we didn’t read the fine print online. At that point, we didn’t want to continue to argue with him and ruin our mood, so we had to order another dish. In the end, he even added 15% tip to our total bill which was more than $74 for a lunch for the three of us. We can’t believe that someone can conduct business like this in America! In all fairness, the food tasted fine, pretty authentic, but what an awful experience we had! We certainly will never go back there again.

Great food, nice service – Great food, very authentic in my opinion. Ordered the Shao Long Baos, and they were awesome. Service was fast and waiter was nice. We were able to strike up some conversation with the owner who was very nice and funny.

You should visit on the weekdays, since they get pretty busy on the weekends, so the service might not be at the best then.

Avoid this place! – I hear that this restaurant offers "authentic" shanghai food. We went tonight, but was very disappointed with the food and espcially service. The food was not authentic at all, and was very salty. The service was very bad. It took at least 10 minutes for someone to come asking what we wanted to drink, then it took another 45 minutes to bring our food. Believe me that your experiance won't be good if you go there.

Horrible service and very rude – We went to this place for dinner tonight. The food was okay, but it was very salty. But the service there was horrible! Try not to go there on weekends or Chinese hoildays, you may have to wait long time for your food. There was a big party beside our table and they were extremly loud. We tried to tell them to be quiet since this place was small and we could barely hold our conversation, but the owner of the restraunt jumped out and told us that those people could be as loud as they wanted to be. He even said that we could go home. He didn't need our business. We can not believe what he just said and how rude he was. We have never experienced anything close to this before. Will never go back there!

Authentic Shanghai Cuisine in Raleigh! – I was reading The China Star newspaper a few days ago and saw the ad about this restaurant. The ad mentions authentic Shanghai cuisine and I know there is basically no restaurant in this area that offers Shanghai style Chinese food.

The restaurant has just opened for couple of weeks and is located right next to the Raleighwood Cinema on Falls of Neuse Road. Along with Shanghai style food you get your typical Chinese food and Sushi.

The most famous Shanghai style food would probably be the Shao Luong Bao, or known as Soup Dumplings. Basically it's a steamed dumpling with lots of juices inside. The juice makes the dumpling "soupy". At this restaurant you get six made to order pork soup dumplings for 6.95 and crab for 7.95.

The Baos were well made and not too overly soupy so you won't get yourself squirted, scorched or both. Actually there is a tutorial on the menu showing you how to eat them so there is no excuse for accidents/mistakes/laundry mishaps!

In sum, food was well made. The Soup Dumplings alone are worth the trip. When you get over there, please don't order stuff like Chicken Broccoli or Shrimp Lo Mein. Rather be adventurous, read through the back of the menu and give the Shanghai stuff a try.
