Go for the fun atmosphere of a dueling piano bar and a place to have some drinks you'll enjoy it. Expect it will be a little sticky and not super clean, that food will be mediocre...but, hey, shouldn't be looking for a dining experience here. Party a little and be happy!
Superb entertainment and a really great time! – I am new to Raleigh and moved here from Northern California and did not think I would find the kind of entertainment I was used to...needless to say, I had a blast! The dueling piano show is not only musical entertainment but comedic! They also have another little club inside, that plays some great dance music. Therefore, you have the option to sit and laugh histerically or you can go into their little club and dance the night away!
Fun times – Lots of laughs and great times. Go with a friend and participate. One of my favorite places.
Tons of Fun – I have been to Rum Runners a few times, but I had such a great time the last time I was there I decided I would write a review. I tried to make reservations but the room was booked so I couldn't. When I got there a waitress saw me and told me a table was signing there checks and would be up in a minute if I wanted the seat. They had an amazing special that night and it was a Friday...a good special on a Friday. The piano players were fun, but I found out there was a dance club attached to the bar, how did I never know about this! All and all I had a great time, I received amazing service- at both bars, and I will be back soon. I don't like that they don't have food, but I found out they let you order pizza that will deliver right to the bar.
Awesome Show, Great Service – I went to Rum Runners with some friends for a Birthday party and we had a blast. We got my friend on stage for her birthday and they sang a hilarious song to her... it was pretty naughty, but verrrry funny. Their drink specials are awesome, and they even have a dance club in the back now if you get tired of singing along to the piano show you can go dance. I'll definatly be back!
Will never be back – Rude service, bad drinks, some of the worst singers I ever heard. Bartenders seemed like they wanted to talk to themselves more than wait on customers. Piano players ignored the requests and used profanity in every song.
Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your visit to Rum Runners. We strive to make every visit a fun and unique experience. I hope you'll stop by sometime again to see all the great changes we've made and give us a chance to change your opinion!
Horrible Piano show – I have never seen a more horrible show in my life. Having frequented several dueling pianos bars, I was in town visiting some friends who brought me to Rum Runners. We left within 30 minutes. The show was horrible, the waitstaff was unfriendly and I encountered one of the worst and rudest bartenders ever.
I thought a requirement to work at one of these places was that you had to play piano. These guys never finished a single song, overused profanity and changed the lines to several songs. I didn't bother to request anything because I didn't want to waste my money.
If I lived in the area I would tell everyone I knew to stay away because this isn't worth the admission at the door, let alone the watered down drinks and the ear bleeding show.
My friends tried to tell me how good it "used" to be, but I find that hard to believe after what I saw this past weekend. I won't be back.
We're very sorry to hear about your bad experiance at Rum Runners. We always try to make every visit to Rum Runners a fun one, but sometimes that doesn't happen. I hope you'll stop by again sometime. We have a GREAT wait and bar staff that are friendly and fast. Our piano show is now one of the best around. Feel free to call or e-mail us ahead of time and I'd be happy to take care of your cover charge if you'd like to give us a second chance.
Catch the Friday Night Luau – My friends and I usually go out for dinner and drinks to celebrate each other's birthdays. We were in the mood to do something a little different, so we decided to check out Rum Runners. It was a GREAT choice! It was definitely not the 'norm' for us by any means, but we kept an open mind and really did enjoy ourselves! The music was fun. Even though it wasn't really the type of music that we would normally listen to, they played a lot of popular music that got everybody singing along. The drinks were also great. I'm often leery of ordering drinks in bars because you often get a cup full of ice, drink mixer, and a tablespoon of alcohol, but the driks were cheap and strong. That may have been part of the entertainment, because after some folks in the crowd had a few, they became quite boisterous...and entertaining.
My only complaint about this establishment is that they no longer have a food menu. On Friday nights, they serve 'luau' food, but its minimal...tortilla chips and salsa, meatballs, fruit cocktail (that is obviously straight out of the can, and ham. You can go back for more as much as you want, but really, its not that tasty...edible, but doesn't leave you wanting more. We would likely have stayed longer, but we ended up leaving to go get some food!
Awesome pianos! – This is one of the coolest piano bars I've been to. It's dueling pianos, they take requests (and play all of them). They'll get the audience singing and clapping, and they play everything from rap to country. My group and I had a blast! Drinks are good, the waitstaff is hot....but the pianos players are awesome. Especially the blonde chick and the guy who had on the Red Sox cap (go Sox!)
Horrible experience – i went to rum runners for my 21st birthday and I definitely regret that decision! The male piano player was an absolutely the rudest person i have ever encountered and he made my experience there terrible. I will admit that I was a little tipsy but I have never felt so insulted by anyone! My 12 friends and I were basically the only people there on a Sunday night and I would assume that our business would be greatly valued, but I guess I was wrong. His rude and sexiest (not in a joking manner) comments were not appreciated!
