I work pretty close to this establishment and my co-workers and I have tried over and over to like this place. The first time I went we on our lunch break. The waitress (who per a regular patron was new) couldn't speak English very well and we had to go over our order 4 times (no exaggeration). When our food came out (20 minutes later) 3 out of 4 orders were wrong. She seemed upset when we advised that they were wrong and then chastised us by making it seem as though we hadn't ordered correctly. Then when I asked for the correct order it took ANOTHER 20 minutes. By this time we needed to head out so I asked for a box and the waitress never came back. We had to ask a guy at the bar for boxes. He was very nice but it took a while. So I left without eating, getting the food or paying. That was six months ago. Haven't been back since. We were going to try it again today and just place a to-go order. It is 12/13/12 and we have been calling since 11am. It is 11:47am and the phone is still busy (clearly off the hook) lol and smh. They will never see a dime of my money. Also.... you may want to check the sanitation score as well as why they have that score. We saw this while trying to google a second number for this place.
I've been to the one in Wake Forest
multiple times, cause I grew up out there. The service is SO SO SO much better in WF.
We arrived at this location at around 9:30pm on a Saturday night. It seemed dark, so we asked what time they closed and the guy said 10pm. So we were gonna leave, cause I hate doing that to restaurants and he said "no, no you're fine!" and insisted we get a table.
So we did, he was very nice about it. BUT our waiter was another story. As soon as he came to the table, he let us know they were closing soon and got our drink orders. We told him we needed a little time to look over the menu. So he left for a few seconds it seemed like, and then came back to get our order. Some of us still weren't ready.
He told us again, the kitchen closed soon so we needed to go ahead and get the orders in. Then he brought us a pitcher full of water, I guess so he wouldn't have to come back and give refills. After we were done eating, a few of us asked for boxes and I asked for a coke to-go (I mean c'mon, I paid $2.10 for it and hadn't even gotten 1 refill). He came back with the boxes and no drink... I was just gonna ask for a drink to-go at the register and not worry about it. But my boyfriend went ahead and asked him for it. There were about 4 or 5 waiters sitting around all STARING at us waiting for us to leave, and when our waiter was bringing my drink to me, he pointed at us and said A LOT in spanish. I don't know what he said, I don't speak spanish, but he didn't sound too happy when he was saying whatever he was saying. And it was blatantly obvious by the way he was pointing, that he was talking about us. I got my drink, and he had opened the straw, and put it in the drink... as apposed to bring a wrapped straw. :/
So, I ended up not keeping it.
Our friends paid for theirs, they had a buy one, get one free entree. He definitely over-charged them. because both their entrees were around $8 and their total was $19.94. But whatever. She tried to correct him, and he got really snappy with her. Then it was my turn to pay, and I got over-charged. He tried to charge $17 and it should've only been $13. So my boyfriend corrected him, and he got an attitude with him as well.
Needless to say, he was extremely rude, never came to our table to check on us during the meal or anything.
I usually don't stiff people, because I work off tips as well, so I know how it is.
But this was just absolutely ridiculous.
I use to live in NC and as a kid we would go to las margaritas all the time. They use to be located somewhere else I think because before as you walked into the restaurant they has customers pics on the wall. Well we are on their wall. I loved their food and I haven't found another mexican restaurant that uses that white cheese that they use. I would seriously fly from texas back to NC just to eat there again!
Good food, dingy inside. Typical Mexican fare, friendly prompt wait staff, but the inside just seems very dark & dirty--ie saggy stained tile ceiling so definitely recommend getting a table outdoors. Besides that they have a great salsa bar and pretty good margarita drink specials, but the place across the street, previously El Rodeo, is a lot classier, more aesthetically appealing with the same attractions & also outdoor seating with a fountain :) Sorry but had to bring that up!
Bad Food Lousy Service. My friend and I stopped by in the evening for dinner. My friend ordered Los Dos Borrachos and I ordered Enchiladas Mexicanas and both dishes were very salty. My friend is more on the salty food so it must be very, very salty for him to say it is salty. My Enchiladas tasted as if they dumped the whole table of salt. I cut and had a small piece and requested the server to replace with one with no sauce on top because I was hoping without the sauce it wouldn't be so salty. The server was rude and loudly asked me over and over what I wanted and told me that I needed to talk the manager. He went to talk to the manager and came back and said they will give me the same dish with no sauce. He came back later and placed the plate in front of me as if I was a beggar and said, there with cheese. OMG! The food looked awful and I cut a tiny piece and it was salty salty and salty. Although my friend was unhappy with the whole service but felt obligate to eat some since the server have replaced a new plate. He tried but after two small pieces he gave up because it was salty and weird. I asked for the check and it was almost 19 dollars. Nope, we didn't order any drink. We were supposed to have dinner at another place but they closed early for Easter Sunday so we stopped at Las Margaritas. I should have listened to my intuition because when we first walked in I didn't want to eat at this restaurant because the sanitation score was only 95.5 I wouldn't eat any where that has sanitation score that is lower than 98. Most restaurant add 2 to 3 point they receive for their sanitation education so if I subtract 2 or 3 points from 95.5 the actual score is only 92.5 or 93. What good the training and learning do if they don't apply what they learned to work.
Great People, Good Food.
RECOMMENDED.
My wife and I have been coming here every week or two for years. The food is pretty typical Mexican fare -- but the quality is always consistent, and always above average. The prices are very reasonable.
I think at one point, the ownership changed, but they kept all the staff. It's easy to understand why they kept them -- the staff is great. They are friendly, and not in a fake "I am being nice to you to get a bigger tip" way. No, they are, as far as I can tell, actually really nice to everyone. Because they want to be. (If one is having a bad day, they will be merely cordial, but never ever anything close to rude).
You get your food very quickly, so keep that in mind when ordering. Sometimes the waitstaff isn't good about getting you refills on drinks. This is what's keeping me from granting 5 stars -- me gusta mis cervezas pronto.
The atmosphere is nice, totally casual, very genuine and in no way upscale. Perfect for us -- just comfortable, and, well, "real".
The Dollar Store is right next door, and walking in to Las Margaritas might feel a bit weird -- there's always people hanging out by the dollar store, and it's not exactly an uplifting scene out there most days. If you can get past this and get through the door, you'll get good, quick food, served by genuinely good people, in a totally relaxed atmosphere.
best in raleigh. I love this place. My girlfriend and I come here all the time with our kids. The atmosphere is very relaxed and with 7 kids combind we need a place that our kids love to go and eat were we don't have to return the trey when we are done. The staff and owners are great. They really make you feel like part of their family. I recommend this place to everyone I talk to so if you get the chance stop i I might see you in there some time.
Good mexican food with a diverse menu. Good food and an affordable price across the board. This mexican joint also has a friendly "regular crowd as well". Can't beat the food for the price either, you won't be dissapointed.
love the food and the service!. my parents eat there frequently, and i go there pretty often too. i love the food there. they have spicy dishes or mild dishes, and even vegetarian dishes! the prices are reasonable, and the people are kind and are hard workers. las margaritas is great!!
The best food, customer service, the best everything!!. I love Las Margaritas! It is my favorite place to go and eat. I am a local and I go there all the time. Not only do all my friends go there they do have the best mexican food in town. Just give it a try and you'll see. My favorite dish is the Number 12 combination. It comes with (2) enchilidas, (1) chili relleno and rice and beans for less that $7.00. Wow. And it is so good. I do eat other items such as the fajiates and quesdillas which are also very very tasty. I haven't tried anything that was not good. The margaritas, of course, are great. HOME OF THE MONSTER MARGARITAS! Be sure to get you a t'shirt too. I go up there and visit with my friends eat great food all the time. I enjoy talking the owner and his friendly staff. It is a good place to take your kids too. Gosh, what more can I say except.......I love Las Margaritas!
