In Short – Ignore the strip-mall setting; inside, this elegant restaurant comes to life. Large, eclectic sculptures and dark-wood dividers break up the cavernous space. With a large aquarium providing the backdrop, servers buzz around, tending to details that complete the fine-dining experience. While the menu is built on seafood and steaks, eclectic ingredients and an international bevy of spices raise the bar.

Editor's Tips

What to Drink:
Bottles of Chateau Margaux are on the reserve list.
Where to Sit:
In the restaurant's upper tier, a bar crowd sips martinis and merlot. Diners looking for an intimate meal flock to the lower tier, where black tables, carpet and dim lighting foster muted conversations.

My husband and I enjoyed the annual Thanksgiving buffet and it was outstanding. Large selection of just about everything under the sun. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Raleighs unique gem!

by raleighdiner at Citysearch

This is one of the more interesting places in raleigh from the food to the wait staff. The food has been some of the best I have ever had. The menu had a very unique mix of dish choices from fish to the normal steak and even wild game that you won't find most places. There is also a 3 course prix fix menu that allows people to choose from a three course meal with a multitude of choices. Also the staff is extreamly friendly and attentive they make the experience of going on a date stress free and very exciting. All and all this is one if not the best place in raleigh to spend an evening out to dinner for a date or even a group of friends.

Hell yeah!!

by yo78 at Citysearch

This place rocks. Their menu is always changing with the freshest ingredients. i enjoyed every bit of this restaurant. For starters I got the Caesar Salad which was one of the best salads I have ever ate, then for my main entree I got the Mixed Grill which comes with a Half of a 1.5# Maine Lobster with crab cake, grilled tuna, garlic shrimp, bacon scallop, spuds & market vegetables which was very delicious, and for desserts my wife and I split the bread pudding that ended our night off in a sweet way. Service was perfect our waiter knew the menu inside and out. I love this place and will be back in a jiffy.

Best Place In RALEIGH!!

by citysearchingfool at Citysearch

Margaux's deserves a 100% in my books. The first thing that caught my eye was their wonderful outside patio with nice chairs and nice granite tables. When we got inside of the restaurant it was like an atmosphere you don't find in any other restaurants. My wife and I met some friends for dinner there and were very impressed. We went on a saturday and were greeted by two lovely hostesses with great big smiles. We sat by the one of a kind fish tank and were taken back at the unique decor of the establishment. Our server welcomed us with open arms and kindly took our drink orders. We ordered some appetizers to start off with and were very impressed with them. Our main entrees were fantastic and they were easy to devour because of the tasty things inside of the dishes. After dinner we indulged our way into a nice moist bread pudding that was 2die4 and a creamy creme brûlée which sent all of our tastes buds wild. My wife and I are definitely coming back to this fine restaurant more often. 2 thumbs up!

Bad Service, Awful Prix Fixe... Questionable Return

by carolina star at Citysearch

We had a family function there and I have to say, we were let down.

The waitress was crass and I personally had food removed while I was still eating. And my sister's unfinished drink was taken away too. Yes you get 18% with a large party but we tend to tip 20%+ so there may be reason to act like there is still a tipping discretion, hello! I didn't expect the waitress to be that bad. However the host was great in contrast.

Then the Prix Fixe menu was more of a disappointment then a stand-out like you'd expect: The portions were a joke (one skewer came out as my husband's appetizer, I had two bite-sized pieces on a saucer plate of what I ordered, etc.) and the entree choices were a complete let down. I ordered the sirloin and tried to order it medium well only to be told to order it rare or else it would be hard. I get it's a sirloin cut but that was an attempt to hide the inferior, fatty quality of the meat. Awful. But we also ordered the super expensive filet and while the sides and sauce was amazing, the taste of blue cheese masked the actual flavor of the filet. On a positive note the calamari though was exceptional. And all the desserts (but the chocolate pie-- frozen) were too.

But after $300+, I'm not sure I'd go again when other fine dining establishments have delivered better.
