What People Are Saying About Neo-China Restaurant

In Short – Graciously shunning the typical too-bare-and-brightly-lit Chinese restaurant atmosphere, Neo-China convinces diners to skip the takeout and stay awhile. With its stone pieces and modern art paintings, there's almost a museum-like feel inside. Recommended items include the chicken with mushrooms, shrimp with lobster sauce, or shrimp and vegetables over angel hair. Top off your meal with a healthy serving of lychee (Chinese fruit).

Lousy service, lack of manners
by BMG0201
Been there several times, and service has never been great. On one ocassion, the waiter actually mocked us as we were walking out the there.
Today I tried to order via phone for a take out. The guy on the other line, with a heavy accent, was non-caring and disrespectful.
When I asked him whether or not the food I was ordering had any MSG in it, he said that it did, that the soup and the fried rice were already pre-made, and that it had some MSG in it already. I told him that in the past they seemed to be able to provide the same food without the MSG, after he had finished saying "what, you haven't ate here before?" When I said "you know what, just cancel the order", the guy expressed a sign of relief, almost in a mocking style.
I am done with this place, for good. Do not really why I tried to order today. Food isn't that great either.
Solid Chinese

I strongly prefer their Chinese menu and it is very fresh, inventive and the best in the area. Not so much when you go to other areas like Thai, Sushi etc.
Large menu provides lots of choices at very reasonable pricing. Nice!
- Pros: Large menu, fresh food
- Cons: Non Chinese food average
Great restaurant

Unresponsive Management

The food is fine, and the wait staff is good. HOWEVER, during my visit the was a table with three completely out of control children who were running all over the restaurant, crawling on the floor under other patron's tables, and screaming to the tops of their lungs. When I complained to the hostess, Hondi, who identified herself as the manager/owner, she told me that as a customer it was MY responsibility to confront the oblivious moms to tell them to dicipline their kids. She also said, "They come in here all the time, and they are always like this." My response to her was that as an owner / manager of a restaurant, it is her responsiblity to look after the dining experience of all of her patrons, and if a table's behavior is disruptive to the dining experience of other patrons, it is the MANAGEMENT's responsibility to step in and take action... not the responsibility of other patrons. By not taking action, I told Hondi that it demonstrates that Neo China does NOT care about the dining experience of their patrons. She refused to take action even though other tables were also complaining and commenting on the issue, even after I asked her a second time, and she also commented that she was "afraid to say anything" to the moms of the out-of-control kids.
- Cons: Unresponsive Management
Meh

I'm new to the Raleigh area and was looking for a decent chinese takeout place. After reading mostly good reviews, I tried NeoChina and was disappointed. I got my usual, General Tso's Chicken, extra spicy. It was edible, but I won't get it again. It just lacked something, not very flavorful, definitely not spicy, sad overcooked limp broccoli, generally below average in my book and I'm not usually super critical of chinese food (I just want good, Americanized takeout). Of course, I can only speak for this one dish; maybe some of the chef specialties are more deserving of the great reviews listed below.
- Pros: Takeout ready super quick
- Cons: Below average food, expensive
