I became a patient at Southern Dermatology (formerly The Dermatology & Skin Cancer Center, PA) when my original doctor in Chapel Hill suggested I find someone closer to my home and work. I needed to have a skin condition addressed in urgent order. I searched around various online media and I came across Southern Dermatology. I called their office on Lake Boone Trail and asked if they were taking on new patients. The person that had answered said that they were. When I verified the type of insurance that I had, an appointment was scheduled for me. When I arrived at the office, I was greeted by the front desk person. After getting the obligatory paperwork out of the way and waiting for a short period in the waiting room, I was called in. The nurse asked me various questions to help determine my condition, etc. Then, after a short wait, Dr. Challgren walked in and introduced himself. He recommended the appropriate treatment and I have been under that treatment for the past six weeks. Since then, I have gotten to know nearly the entire staff and I can vouch that these are some of the nicest and most professional individuals that I have met. I would highly recommend this practice for their ability to address even the most complex dermatological issues. My experience has been excellent!
My son saw Dr. Challgren for multiple warts on his right foot. The beetle juice treatment was recommended and performed. I do have to say the pain and difficulties of the blistering were way more intense than we expected, but we are so thankful that the treatment actually worked! His warts are totally gone, with one treatment!! So thankful!!
I have been coming to Southern Dermatology for several years now and am very satisfied with their services. I am always warmly greeted and find Angie and Dr Briley to be very knowledgeable and professional.
The office has a great atmosphere and the staff are very friendly. The dr has a great way with her patients and my treatments were very effective.
So far so good. They've been very informative, helpful and kind, though everything is a bit pricey.
I'm still pleased with the staff and,. Another year has passed and I'm still pleased with the staff and, services I receive during my visits. The service is GREAT!!! From the moment you walk in the door it's like being with old friends. I've been using the services for years and everytime I visit the service is top notch.
I have fairly severe psoriasis. I went to Cary Dermatology and they were awful. I thought the name "Robert Johnson" was awesome, but he told me that he couldn't help me if I wouldn't allow myself to get my medicine to work even though I had allergic reactions. He actually said, "If you don't want to keep taking Humira, I can't help you." My skin went bright red, it felt like a million pins in my skin. This place is much more accepting. The doctors seem to have their stuff together much more than normal. I'm not sure if the light treatment is going to work, but this place is willing to actually try. I sat in a waiting room with a bunch of old timers and saw my doctor walking around outside talking into a voice recorder. That made me happy. It makes you believe that she takes he profession seriously.
I have had nothing but fantastic experiences at Southern Dermatology! I have been a patient since 2007, and I definitely would recommend them as a very caring, helpful and pleasant team of physicians and staff.
I don't understand why it take so long to get a return phone call from a nurse at this office. I shouldn't have to call and leave three or four messages to see why a prescription for my child has not been called in and then get attitude from the lady in the billing office because I pressed the wrong # just to get a human!!! Does it matter what # I pressed? Can you just transfer me and again, I get voice mail. WOW!!! Of course Shelly the so called office is never available either. Are there any competent people in this office.!!! If my son didn't love Dr C, I would transfer to another dermatologist. Not happy at all right now.
The check in people are rude and so is the billing person. I checked in for Dr Challgren and the girl wasnt nice. I had to come back up to the window because I had a question about my bill. I stood there and waited for about 3 minutes for the girl to acknowledge me and she gave me attitude because I knocked on the window to get her attention. I had a question about a balance and she said she had to go get the billing manager(which took forever). I was expecting to discuss my bill in private when this lady comes to the window with her face frowned up asking how can she help me. I wanted to know what my balance was from and she was very loud and proceeded to tell me in a matter of fact tone that my insurance paid and the balance was mine. The whole waiting room did not need to here my business. I wasn't disputing the balance, it was just an odd amount and I wanted tom make sure I owed it so I could pay it. That was such a turn off and so unprofessional. Then she says is it anything else and walks off. I work hard for my money and I cant get respect at my Drs office, they won't get my money. That check in and billing person need training in manners!!!!
