I receive such bad customer service
from this bank that it was actually worth it to create this Citysearch account so I could review them.
First the good. They have good mortgage and loan rates. That's it.
Now the bad. First, they have extremely poor customer service as most other reviews already point out.
Next, their systems are all from the dark ages. This is really surprising considering that this was originally an IBM credit union. Of course, IBM is still in the dark ages so maybe that explains it. If you don't use your online access for a couple of months, it automatically locks the account. This happened to me. So I called in on a weekend to the 24 hour service center. Guess what? They can't unlock the account. They would confirm that I was using the correct username but the rep said it had been a while since I logged in so it had locked me. And she had absolutely no way to unlock the account! I mean, come on. I confirmed my account info, date of birth, SS#, and confirmed that I was using the correct username. And she doesn't have a little check box there to go ahead and unlock the account? Nope. I have to call in on Monday or go to a branch.
Next, when I did get a mortgage from them, it took over six months for a refi. During the entire experience, they just kept dragging their heels on everything and it's almost impossible to get someone to help you or answer questions. Their customer service just plain stinks.
Another issue is their statements. I have a mortgage with them and routinely used to get statements from them after the mortgage was due. They just included the bill in with my regular account statement.
Finally, they didn't send my tax statements this year. When I called in, they couldn't tell me if they had mailed them or not. They just told me it would be best to sign up for eDocs so I could get them online. I did that and it signed me up automatically for online everything. So now I get a monthly email telling me my mortgage statement is ready, but of course I can't go look at it from time to time because the account gets locked if I don't use it for a few months.
How this bank is even in business is beyond belief. Horrible customer service. Long lead times for the services they do offer. Worst online system I've dealt with in a while. So glad there are new banks that will put these places out of business.
Divorced people do not trust them. After my divorce, I returned to the Coastal to save money after having previously had an account there with my former spouse. There was still a loan account open for overdraft with a 0 balance. I was told I could not use this or have overdraft for my checking account. Then my ex spouse returned to Coastal, and they DID let him use it, despite the fact we are divorced and my name is still on it and I don't have access! They didn't question him or call me before allowing him to do this. Of course he has maxed it out and it's hurting my credit, but they won't take my name off of it. Very lazy and underhanded of them not to call me or make him open his own account.
Not even worth the benefit of being in a credit union.
Zero customer service. I was apalled.
Try another credit union or a community bank.
