Stupid Citysearch - THAI HOUSE!.
Thai house opened about 2006.
The food here is very good, but this is a small cafe atmosphere. No flare to the atmospher, and the ingrediants in the food are a bit basic, and service can depend on the number of customers. But I give them 5 stars because they do what they do well -- basic casual dining.
They have a very successful lunch; with specials every day. Weekly dinner is a bit more quiet & relaxed.
Recommendations: Pad Thai, duck salad, Sum Tum, Spicy steak, and suchi fried flounder.
Thai Garden is now closed, and has been replaced by Thai House Cuisine. Thai Garden is now closed, and has recently been reopened as "Thai House Cuisine". They have completely new management, new employees - new everything... as it is a brand new restaurant...
great overall: authentic food, great service, warm atmosphere, reasonable price. I really don't get the reviews here on Thai Garden. Even the positive ones don't do this place justice. Maybe it has to do with the review dates. The outside doesn't do the inside any justice as well. We've been there several times in 2006 and have always had a great overall dining experience. The hostess and wait staff are extremely friendly and attentive-- making great recommendations and accommodating special requests for our 2 yr old daughter (as they don't have a child's menu). The chef even came out once and asked our daughter what she likes so she could prepare it the next time we go. The food is authentic, fresh, tasty, creative, and attractively plated. The prices are very reasonable. The atmosphere is very cozy and romantic. Overall, I haven 't had a better Thai experience in the Triangle, even at the more highly rated Thai restaurants listed here on Citysearch (which would include Sawasdee and Lemongrass). If you haven't been to Thai Garden recently or ever, I suggest you give it a try.
Cozy restaurant, dank food. hey i don't know what these negative reviews are all about. i have now been to thai garden twice and all of the five or so entrees i have tried were excellent, especially the curry ones. The fresh spring rolls need some work but the entrees definitely made up for what was lacking in the appetizers. a nice small family style restaurant always makes for the best ethnic dining anyways, and plus it was cheap ($25 for two) and the food came out promptly. The service was friendly and offered good advice to a friend who is an amateur in asian cuisine. I definitely left satisfied.
Great Thai, Great Service.
Now that it is Thai House everything has improved. The ambience, the food, the overall experience. The staff remembers me regardless of how long it's been, and they greet me warmly. The service is prompt, the food is fresh, and the dishes are outstanding. I still the Sawasdee is the best Raleigh Thai food, but Thai House is a very very close second.
Back when it was Thai Garden, I wrote this review, which I still stand by:
I literally took 2 bites then left. The taste reminded me of when I was a child and expermented in the kitchen making things that even the dog wouldn't go near. Their noodles were gray and the sauce looked and smelled like soggy waste-can water. The service was fine, though - the 'food' came promptly and all service was with a smile.
Good for Beginners. This place is one I say is good for those who are "Beginners" to Thai food. It's more basic...just a tad off from Chinese food, which your average Joe is more accustomed to. Decent food, an easy-to-understand menu, and a very good amount of selection. Not the fanciest but that's a good thing. Just a good, hearty, inexpensive Thai meal. I like it fairly well!
Thai-rrriffficc. Nearly 6 years ago I first experienced Thai food at Thai Garden. I immediately fell in love with it. I have continued going to Thai Garden still. I really like the atmosphere for some reason, the lighting, music, and candles make it romatic. I have tried many other Thai restaurants locally and abroad but I have a certain reservation for Thai Garden.
Bleah.. Serives was ok. Prices were decent. But the food was really sub-par. It was the worst dining experience I've had in a long time. Both my friend's dish and my own were bad - her's was actually inedible. I suggest going elsewhere. Sushi-Thai is a good alternate.
Really Bad. I love Thai. I eat it all the time. If this was the the time that I had it I would have thought that it was horrible everywhere and would have not had it again. The meat was parts I had to pick it all out. I don't care that this place is the closest to me I will never go there again. The worst Thai I have ever had. If you want to call it Thai.
