Melting Pot self serving is fun. I’m normally not a do-it-yourselfer, but I thoroughly enjoyed the fondue process at The Melting Pot. Wonderful tastes, friendly service and a convenient location make it a place I’ll be happy to revisit.
I love The Melting Pot!. The Melting Pot of Raleigh is the perfect location for special occasions! The fondue is delicious and it was fun to sample different flavors and cook our food to our own specifications. The multiple courses help slow the meal down so you can truly savor your company while savoring your food!
gross. Not go back.Management talk back rude to complaining customers. HE said not care what the complaint is. Told customer rude and discusting. Employees brush crumbs off the floor onto table. good fondue, terrible booths. The fondue is very good and the service is excellent. We had the big night out and there was more food than we could eat. The flaming turtle is a wonderful desert, but I wish there were more strawberries and brownies on the platter, as they are far better than the other items. We went after the remodel and the place looks great, but the booths are terrible. They are very uncomfortable, as they have little back support, having little cushion and being straight up with no arch. For that reason, I would suggest sitting in a chair.
It's hip to dip at this cozy fondue-lover's paradise..
In Short
Booths equipped with tabletop fondue pots are clustered together inside the intimate dining room. Start with a cheese fondue, including an assortment of breads, veggies and fruits for dipping. Entrees include lobster, center-cut filet, fish, chicken and vegetarian selections served with a variety of dipping sauces. For dessert, try the flaming turtle, a mix of chocolate and caramel flambéed tableside, served with nut-covered marshmallows, fresh fruit, pound cake, brownies and cheesecake.
Great fondue place. Every time I have been there it has been a good experience. It always looked clean to me. The food is delicious, and the staff is really friendly. The big con is the price, it is not the cheapest place in town.
Something different!. This restaurant is perfect when you're in the mood for something different! Great service and atmosphere. Even with the remodeling, it's worth a visit! The cheddar fondue was really good and the Yin&Yang dessert was fantastic!
Fun experience, but sanitary issues.
Almost everyone I talked to about this restaurant gushed about its incredible desserts, the fun of cooking fondue, and its amazing wine selection. All of that is true, but there is still a lot to be desired.
The Good: The food itself is great, the cheese fondue was tasty, the spinach salad is perhaps the best salad I've ever had, and you have to save plenty of room for dessert, it's the highlight.
The Bad: When you make reservations, expect to wait. It took 25 minutes to be seated, despite our reservation days in advance. Once we were seated, our waiter was friendly, but rushed us through the process. Also, despite what your waiter may tell you, don't get the coq au vin for your main dish cooking style. Everything tasted the same in it, as a previous reviewer said. The pork, chicken, filet, and sirloin were indistinguishable from each other, only the heavily seasoned shrimp stood out.
The Dirty: Good thing you cook your own food here, it's the only thing about it I could guarantee was clean. Our table needed a good scrubbing from previous meals, which in of itself was not bad. But there were random shrimp tails, toothpicks, and bits of food and dirt ground into the carpet all over the place. The women's bathroom was a mess. That's always an indicator of how clean a place is. If the bathroom, which they let you see, is dirty, imagine what they won't let you see in the kitchen! Plus, for a date place, it's not a very romantic atmosphere.
The experience itself was fun, but for the amount you pay for (and you will pay....a lot), you do expect a more attentive waitstaff and cleaner surroundings.
Once Is Enough. My husband and I were first time customers and more than likely last time customers. Although the service was very good, the atmosphere left us feeling like we were in a converted convenience store. The first coarse (cheese fondue) was excellent and we finished it. The caesar salad was also very good, however the entree cooked in our chosen coq au vin was less than interesting. Everything tasted the same. We were having trouble distinguishing the shrimp from the steak from the beef, etc. Perhaps because it was cooked in the same broth. The dessert was fabulous and the best part of the meal. It was a nice experience but one I don't care to indulge in again, primary because of the steep price and extraordinary amount of time to prepare and eat (over two hours). Its the only restaurant , however where you can dine and get a facial at the same time.
great food, great atmosphere, steap price. This place has wonderful food. It is really fun to cook your own food too. The cheese fondue appetizer and the dessert is the best part of the meal. It is very romantic. Unless you have really good kids, I wouldnt suggest you go here. It can be really fun for them though. It is really easy to spend $100 on dinner here. It is rather expensive but for the experience, the price is almost worth it. The service it incredible too. Make sure you make reservations. If you dont, you may be waiting for hours.
