Lilly's Pizza makes an incredible pizza, but the service is lacking. The two times I've eaten Lilly's, someone else has ordered and picked it up. Today, I wanted takeout. I called around lunchtime to ask what time I would need to call in a dinner order for a 4:45pm pickup time. I was told to call around 3:30 so the pizza would be ready. I called at 3:35 to place my order--1 small and 1 gluten-free. I arrived at 4:45. I was told that my pizzas weren't ready yet but that I could pay and they'd bring them right out in a few minutes. I paid and took a seat at a nearby table. There were 2 other small parties in the dining area at the time so it wasn't busy at all. By 5:10, several people had come in to pick up takeout orders and were given their pizzas. I went to the counter to check on mine, thinking maybe the guy got busy and forgot to bring mine. He checked and after a few minutes came back and said that my pizzas didn't get in the oven in time. I had something I was supposed to do at 5pm and was already late, so I asked for a refund. There was some confusion about the credit card transaction. I was assured that even though my card was swiped, the payment hadn't yet gone through and that everything was okay. I checked my bank account and everything looks good so far...I'm just hoping the receipt won't get grabbed by mistake and get put in the system. The guy was nice about the refund. I explained I had called in my order at 3:30 for a 4:45 pickup. I was afraid 7-10 more minutes might end up being longer than that, so a refund was the best option. The pizza has been great the two times I've eaten it. I was disappointed to leave without pizza tonight. The guys seemed nice enough, but no one seems overly concerned about customer service. Being that parking is a bit of a hassle in that area anyway, and no guarantee of the pizza being ready on time, I probably will not try Lilly's again. It's really a shame because the pizza is really, really good and I would love to put Lilly's in my regular takeout rotation. I would much rather support locally-owned restaurants that use fresh, organic ingredients than the chain restaurants. If I had been offered a discount for the inconvenience of such a long wait time, I may have waited since I was already late for my commitment, but I was not going to pay $25 for 2 takeout pizzas that were at least 40 minutes late.
Service was excellent on top of the food!. The counter person was courteous, and the salad couldn't have arrived any faster! Shortly after, the most delicious pizza (fresh mozzarella, garlic, basil, tomatoes, and baby spinach) sat on the table. Great food, Great Value! Thanks to Edgar for making our experience worth the drive!!!
Best Damned Pizza In the Triangle!.
Love this place.! Okay, the atmosphere is hip and parking is difficult, but it is definitely worth the try. All organic pies and sauce made from scratch daily! Absolutely delicious!
Decided to post this since I know a person who works there. The Sweiditis person below is a complete fraud; he failed to give his credit card # entirely and upon delivery refused to do so. The driver politely gave him his food for free and, the ungrateful .... came on here and made a complete fool of himself?
Yes, Lines can be long, but there is a good reason for it!
Enjoy the salads as well. Very Tasty!
Don't buy the name, the pizza is horrible!!!!!. I have ordered from Lilly's pizza for quite a while and the pizza and service has been inconsistant to say the least. We ordered a pizza tonight and it arrived completely uncooked except for the burned outer crust. When I called to complain they sent another pizza 45 minutes later with no apology. Don't pay cash, if you choose to give them your business, use your credit card so you have some recourse if there is a problem with your order, and there will be a problem!!!!!
Best Pizza in Raleigh but take this advice.
This pizza is awesome but my advice is to get take out and don't be a sucker and wait in line with the people eating there to pick it up. The resturant is small and the line moves very slow.
Everytime I eat here they screw up the order somehow but when I get take out I never have a problem(strange).
If you want to sit down and eat some good pizza then go to Mellow Mushroom but if you want the best pizza in town call in your order and go pick it up from Lilly's.
Awful Service. Absolutely horrendous service and very suspicious management of your credit card information. I ordered a pizza for delivery which arrived 1 hour and 45 minutes later (I live less than 5 minutes from Lily's)...this turned out to be the least of my problem. Despite having paid for my order over the phone (repeated my credit card information twice), they claimed to have no record of my payment. I spoke to the manager several times who insisted no one had received the information yet somehow magically, the order was placed and delivered almost two hours later. Having worked as an attorney for many years, I am well aware of the prevalence of credit card fraud in the restaurant business. If you for some odd reason would like to order food from here, pay with cash! Speaking of food, the pizza we received was not eatable. It was almost all the way uncooked. Stay away from this place. If you are on the fence, take a peak into their kitchen...that's all I have to say...you'll thank me later.
A Must If You Are Visiting Raleigh. This place is hands down the best Pizza in Raleigh! Seriously people might complain about the parking and how crowded the place is on a Friday or Saturday night but the truth really is that the pizza is worth all the headache! They have so many unique pizzas that you can't get anywhere else and the atmosphere can't be beat! I take everyone who visits me from out of town to Lilly's Pizza and I have never had anyone tell me they were not a fan! If you love pizza as much as I do get to Lilly's and you wont be sorry!
Not worth the hassle. After many tries, I have decided that Lilly's Pizza is not worth the trouble. Sure the pizza and salads are good, but you either have to wait in a slow line at an understaffed restaurant where the staff couldn't care less about you, or wait 1 1/2 hours for a room temperature pizza and a room temperature salad to be delivered. Oh yeah, good luck getting them to answser the phone. If you don't eat at the restaurant, make sure to check your order b/c it is often wrong. I am writing this as my undercooked pizza (I ordered it well done) heats up in the oven. If anyone else made a pizza with quality ingredients this would be my last trip to Lilly's. Unfortunately, in about 6 months I will forget and try again only to be disappointed.
Amazing Pizza!. After moving to Raleigh from New York, I had trouble finding great pizza until a friend recommended Lily's Pizza a few years ago. It really is amazing pizza! Their dough is very unique, they have a great list of toppings and they have a decent list of beers/wines. They make their croutons for their salads with pizza dough, so the salads are definitely worth trying too! The wait on a friday or saturday night though is a bit insane and sometimes its diffcult to find a free table, so if you looking for a quicker meal I would recommend calling in your order for pick up.
