Not impressed

by Gennifer at Citysearch

I took my dog for a rabies vaccination recently, she was not due for yearly exam or any thing else, and they charged $46 for a "comprehensive exam" just to give her rabies vaccine which was an additional fee. I used to be a veterinary technician and none of the places I ever worked charged an exam for rabies unless it was for the yearly exam. This exam was not remotely comprehensive and very hands-off. If I had known I was being charged for this so-called exam I would have asked more questions! I definitely won't be going back. Also their flea and tick meds are astronomically priced.

Guard your wallet!

by ospears at Citysearch

Don't be fooled by fancy marketing and a nice website. This outfit will overcharge for their services and take advantage of you when you are vulnerable.

We all want the best for our pets, but don't let your actions be guided by your emotions. Do your homework, make a few phone calls, and ask the obvious questions.

And don't be surprised when they try to sell you an extremely expensive bag of food because "your pet would really benefit..."

Incompetent staff!

by t5b at Citysearch

I have been going to Oberlin Animal hospital for 3 years, but last year they got rid of all the competent assistants. Now all they have is little girls who do not know how to handle the animals so I end up paying for sedation. I never had this problem with the other staff. They mess up the appointments, they give me a call telling me that I have an appointment yet when I go there they tell me that I am not scheduled for that they. I take a day off to take my dogs to the vet and they refuse to see me. This is not professional, it's a shame, I am looking for a new vet.

  • Pros: Emergency services
  • Cons: surprise costs, horrible staff

Oberlin Animal Hospital

by yankee17 at Citysearch

Oberlin has a state of the art set up with most tests being done at their facility. They are open 24 hours. This could sound like a review for another well equipped animal hospital open when you need help, but there is one big difference. The doctors and staff at Oberlin without exception, treat your animal as a loved member of your family. So often when you are at an animal hospital you are in a time of great anxiety or crisis. To go where there are knowledgeable, skilled, experienced and professional people goes without saying. You will certainly find these at Oberlin Animal Hospital. But what else is so desperately needed to get you through these times? What helps you understand the choices to guide the health of your pet? What gives you hope to get through the rough days to the "tail-wagging" ones? This comes from the heart, attitude and compassion that you receive from everyone at Oberlin. They are the ones who don't look down on you while you ask the same question 5 times, sometimes are curt and cry frequently (at least I have been guilty of these). The staff there makes us feel like our dog is the one they've been waiting to see for days, their favorite! I am sure they make everyone feel this way. Very importantly, I have found that the doctors at Oberlin are there for you when you have the need, not when you make an appointment. When there is a larger health issue, you are not given minimal information and left waiting while procedures are done. At Oberlin, they call, talk, comfort and explain, often doing so on their own time. Their main focus is your pet's health and the love you have for your pet. I could not recommend them more highly.

  • Pros: 24 hrs, compassionate care, knowledgeable
  • Cons: didn't start off with them 8 yrs ago

Routine grooming resulted in major injury that required 3 stitches on my dogs neck!

by Raleigh913 at Citysearch

I The groomers are negligent. I took my dog there for a groom because that is where my vet is located and I have had a positive experience with the vet. Shortly after I dropped my 5 pound toy poodle off for a groom, I got a call from the vet saying that the groomer cut my dog?s neck so badly that the vet had to give him 3 STITCHES! This is completely unacceptable. Then they said that I would not me charged for the stitches but that I would be charged for the groom.

I would like to say that I like the vet, but the groomer is negligent. Routine grooming should not result in major injury that results in stitches. I am absolutely horrified. As a dog owner finding a groomer is difficult because dogs cannot speak for themselves and you have to completely trust the groomer to treat your dog with the utmost care. I cannot trust this groomer to ensure that my dog has a ?pain free? experience so I will NOT be returning.
