A Satisfied Customer. Throughout my college days I have been to quite a few different bars in the Raleigh area. I knew after the first night that I spent at East Village, my search for a bar to attend on a nightly basis was done. You might be asking, "What was it that is so special about this bar?" Well, I will answer you. The bartenders do an excellent job at making sure that your drink orders, mine usually being the $1.75 Coors Lite special, are taken and prepared quickly and efficiently. I have honestly never been disappointed with a drink that was prepared by the bartenders; this includes all of the shots and mixed drinks I have had. Secondly, the staff is always very receptive and polite. I was shocked to read the reviews written below because I would never imagine the bar manager would do such a thing. She has always been extremely nice and works very hard. I really appreciate how the bartenders and staff work to develop relationships with their customers. They do such a good job that the atmosphere feels like one giant family. I look forward to spending may more nights at East Village and I hope to see everyone out there too!

Can't beat the prices and atmosphere. Please don't let Kris30's review entitled "The Bar Manager Needs to be Fired" influence your decision on wheither or not to go to East Village. You see what Kris30 left out of his review (because I was actually at the bar when this outburst happened, I know) is that his friend who wouldn't hurt a fly started flying off her hinges because the bouncer wouldn't let her in, on account of the fact that she was using a fake ID. Now, it is quite apparent that Kris30 slept alone that night and in his disgruntled confusion about leaving the bar alone, he felt compelled to ruin East Villages reputation. I would like to clarify on this review board that East Village is actually quite a friendly and professional establishment. I've never run into a circumstance where the staff mis-treated a customer. In addition it's not just the service that keeps me coming back, all of their beers are real cheap and the food is tasty. I highly recommend becoming an east village patron!

Friendly Staff and Happy Smiles. I came across a few postings on Citysearch regarding the East Village staff and was astonished. I have personally found the entire staff, especially the bar manager, to be nothing but friendly, courteous, and respectful. I truly hope that anyone that was led to believe otherwise will give East Village another chance; the staff is the best in town and would never intentionally disrespect a customer. There simply is not a better place in Raleigh for food and drinks.

Hometown Bar, Hometown Feeling. I wanted to be sure to comment on the disgruntled reviews regarding the East Village staff. It’s amusing to me that someone is upset because their friend got kicked out of a bar and was treated disrespectfully on the way out. I have been thrown out of a bar or two and have rarely been treated with respect on the way out; if anyone makes a scene in a bar or tries to get in with a fake ID then they deserve to be removed by any means necessary. I have spent enough time at East Village to know and trust that the bar staff would never throw out a customer without just cause and would never go out of their way to embarrass a customer in doing so. East Village is always a great place to hang out, and I wouldn’t change a thing about it. It is nice to go to a hometown bar and know that all the friendly faces behind the bar are going to take good care of you.

Response to previous review. In response to the previous ridiculous review, I happened to witness that incident. If you don’t want to be embarrassed, tell your friend not to use a fake id, make a scene in the parking lot, insult the staff, call the police to file a complaint, and then sneak into the bar. Then the bar manager wouldn’t have to throw ice at the window to get the door guy’s attention to drag your underage friend out of a college bar. Regulars at East Village would know better so pretend you frequent another Hillsborough Street locale with your THREE total friends in tow.

The Bar Manager needs to be Fired!. I went with a group of about 20 friends to East Village last week, and my friend was treated so disrespectfully and unprofessionally by your "Bar Manager" (some blonde with a serious attitude problem) that we all ended up leaving! First your manager fussed her out outside of the bar for simply trying to get her drivers license back and when my friend came in to get the car keys to go home, the manager cussed her out in front of the entire place and threw ice at her! In front of everyone, it was so immature and ridiculous that you lost a group of 20 people that night and probably for good unless something is done about the management of this place. We were all regulars, but to see someone that i know wouldn't hurt a fly treated like Sh** in front of an entire bar full of people I don't think any of us will ever come back, and I would not recommend this place to anyone else either!

Worst Bar Manager in Raleigh. This is a great bar but their bar manager is the worst in Raleigh. I have been going to this bar for many years and I have seen bar managers come and go and this one needs to go. She is often ill-tempered and takes it out on the patrons and the staff. Her name is Jo by the way and she is bringing the place down.

Great bar. I have been going to East Villiage since it opened in 1992. I was a college student then, but I haven't out grown the laid-back atmosphere and fun food. The beer is always cold and the staff is always friendly. Best time for post college grads is after work.

Dollar drafts on the deck make this neighborhood bar a college student's dream come true.. In Short
Located on one of the more bustling blocks of Hillsborough Street, you'll find the East Village to be mostly inhabited by State students celebrating anything from a Wolfpack victory to the arrival of Friday night. Divided into three sections, you enter through the main bar, descend into a covered patio area with a large-screen TV and emerge onto th back deck overlooking Hillsborough Street. Sandwiches, burgers and salads complement deep-fried appetizers.

My favorite bar ever!. East Village is the best bar at NC State. You can walk there to and from campus very easily, the beer is cheap, and the outdoor deck is awesome. It's a great place to watch away games (or home games that you didn't win tickets for) and the atmosphere is always fun. I've made the best friends of my life on the deck of EV. Just get there early on the night of the Hillsborough Hike!
