In Short – When you first walk into this bountiful feast for the senses, head to the front desk for directions. Not only will the staff tell you where to find the falafel mix, but they'll also hand you colorful brochures on how to prepare everything from dried beans to fresh fish. Try the salad bar; fresh soups; hot entrees; or the juice bar with all kinds of fruits and veggies for a vitamin-and-mineral-heavy beverage.

Editor's Tips

Where to Sit:
Each market has a cafeteria--you can eat there or take your food home for an entirely organic, healthy meal.
The Extras:
Other pluses are a full deli and espresso bar, a huge selection of herbal and medicinal teas served hot or cold, bread baked in-house, fresh seafood, free-range meats and outdoor seating.
The Extras:
Samples galore let you taste the featured specials and the breads. The ciabatta is fantastic and more reasonably priced than at some area markets.

Great food, groceries; fresh fruit and vegetables

by shadesofblonde

Best grocery/gourmet food store in Raleigh; different foods in bakery, hot bar, salads all the time. The panna cotta (in the bakery) is outstanding, when it's available. Seafood soupbar is great, particularly the New England Clam Chowder and the Crab Chowder with potatoes and corn. Friendly, helpful staff, for the most part. (The staff in the bakery seem to stand around talking to one another a lot when you are at the counter waiting, having already caught their eyes). I have to throw that in because it happens about 50% of the time, to me, at least. But, otherwise, it's a great place with great food...and they DO have meat; everything isn't vegetarian.

  • Pros: central location; good quality & variety
  • Cons: parking; bakery staffs' "customer service"
