Nice, friendly and good ole food
by Relly12
I have to say the experience my family and I have had there was extremely good. The food was freshly cooked and the baked macaroni was very tasty. The fried chicken was that good as my mother's. I like that it's servicing is done is a very friendly manner. My young child is able to color and be occupied while the food isn't yet served. BBQ is awesome (Pork) The BBQ sauce is really good. The food is enough on the plate to take leftovers home. It s a constant check to see if there is anything else we need. The customer service is so good, you can tell that it's pride in catering to others that need to have a great experience but also good food to eat.
Over all I will and have recommended this small but cute restaurant to friends and co-workers.
Con: Air Conditioner is very much needed during the hot summer days. .
I can find better Barbecue in New York
by Lipper37
I have to say, I have been extremely disappointed in my barbecue experience in Raliegh, supposedly one of the capitals of american barbecue. My visit to Ole Time has only added to this dilemma. When we pulled up I thought "Finally a real barbecue joint." It had the look and feel of an original. Although on a day when it was 100 degrees outside, it was the same inside. No air conditioning. So what! we stayed anyway thinking it will add to a true Carolina Barbecue experience. Unfortunately the food did not live up the look. We ordered the ribs, no smoke flavor what so ever, seemed boiled first and where's the smoke ring? Fried Chicken, extremely soggy and greasy, inedible. Chopped Pork, good flavor mostly due to the excellent barcecue sauce, once again missing the elusive smokey flavor. The sides went from exceptional, collard greens & mac&cheese to horrible mashed potato, they had to come out of a box & mushy green beens. I found the service fun, if not fast. Then again I am from NYC. It is a shame, it seems if they put just a little more time into the smoking of their meats it can be a wonderful place. The barbecue sauce was good.
Best BBQ in Raleigh Area
by dttaylo2
BBQ restaurants aren't always about "best customer service", they are about great BBQ and southern charm. This somewhat hole in the wall restaurant has great BBQ and some of the best bbq sauce to go around. I prefer the spicy sauce the best and I always leave with a bottle for the house. Try it and it will become one of your favorite spots in Raleigh. I see a few negative comments on here, but very few, for a restaurant, thats not bad at all.
Avoid!!!

Had the most terrible experience at this place, the food, was warmed over, to the down right offensive service. How so many have had enjoyable occasion is besides me...I know I'm not the first to be verbally assaulted by management after inquiring with others. Why would one bother.

I eat at the location in Garner today for the first time for lunch and it was wonderful. Such very nice folks that work there. The food was very very good and not expensive at all. Mr. Jerry the owner come by to speak and see how things were going, such a nice gentleman. Some of the best barbecue Ive ever put in my mouth and the best hushpuppies Ive eaten anywhere!
- Pros: Great Family Atmosphere and Food
- Cons: None
