What People Are Saying About Amedeo's Italian Restaurant

In Short – This Italian gem knows how to cater to customers: Budget-minded students love the reasonable prices and unpretentious atmosphere while locals keep coming back for the baked ziti, cheesecake and cannoli. Pizza is also a hit--the homemade crust and unique toppings win over diners who crave variety. There's no question where loyalties lie here--the decor features plenty of Wolfpack kitsch, but the food is tasty enough to distract even the most diehard Blue Devil.
DISGUSTING

I took my girlfriend on a date here and the food was terrible, my pasta with clam sauce made me sick even though I only took a few bites, the place was dirty, and the service was terrible.
- Pros: None
- Cons: everything about the place
Let us know when the calamari starts to be made fresh

I've eaten at Amedeos a good amount of times over the past 10 years. The price of the food and the quality matched each other 10 years ago but now, the prices have gone up and the quality has remained the same. I would say it is a bit overpriced. It is interesting to order the 'choose your pasta and topping' entree because sometimes the topping is not necessarily cooked in with the sauce. I've had angel hair with garlic butter and raw onions sprinkled on top and I've also had a cooked sausage link lain across linguine in alfredo sauce. Oh- and ask about the calamari before you order it. Last time I didn't and it was the thickly sliced, thickly breaded kind that could have been frozen and made you feel like you were chewing a tire. I've always eaten their pasta entrees but the place is so charming, I'll go back to see what their pizza is like, although Frank's is a major contender. Some good choices at Amedeos include the lasagna and pasta primavera.
- Pros: decorated with interesting old NCSU memorabilia
- Cons: calamari
In Defense of Amedeo's

This is a great place to eat & hang out. The food is delicious & has some of the best drink specials in Raleigh. I've read some of these reviews & can agree that service is not always the best & the manager they did hire did mess things up. But I know for a fact there are people who work there since the good days and are all about saving the place.
*The management is back to the way it was
*it is a family owned business!!
*its fresh homemade food
*yes changes did have to be made, cause the place did go thru bankruptcy, so we did have to change from the large pour, & free Blue Cheese with everything
I guess I just dont see how people can have 1 lil complaint & swear off the place, maybe read into whats really going on there, maybe ask the people there, instead of reading some random complaint from someone who probably never even worked in a restaurant.
The place is still great and full of good times, don't believe me come in & check it out, and check it out again if ya are one of these people who has to swear the place off, maybe you were to hasty and did come across that one bad apple.
- Pros: Great food & atmosphere w/ great prices
- Cons: bad apple here & there
