What People Are Saying About Amedeo's Italian Restaurant

In Short – This Italian gem knows how to cater to customers: Budget-minded students love the reasonable prices and unpretentious atmosphere while locals keep coming back for the baked ziti, cheesecake and cannoli. Pizza is also a hit--the homemade crust and unique toppings win over diners who crave variety. There's no question where loyalties lie here--the decor features plenty of Wolfpack kitsch, but the food is tasty enough to distract even the most diehard Blue Devil.

Editor's Tips

Save Time:
Since the restaurant is popular with students and their parents, expect a wait during game days and other university events.
Know Before You Go:
The dishes can be prepared for takeout.

Pretty Disappointed

by Spears82

My husband and I ate at Amedeo's last night and were excited to try a new restaurant. We also made a point to spend our money at a restaurant that was locally owned.

Shortly after being seated, "one of the owners" introduced himself to the table of college students behind us. Apparently there were new specials/promotions geared toward attracting college students. While the service from our waitress and the food was good we left with a bad taste in our mouths. Throughout our meal this gentleman spoke to every table around us but never even glanced in our direction. Apparently we were too old. In fact he even stood in front of our table waiting for an opportunity to speak with other tables and never even asked how our meal was or thanked us for choosing to dine there. As we were leaving this same gentleman was standing at the hostess stand and did not even say "good evening" or smile in our direction. It was very clear that the owner at Amedeo's did not value our business and because of this we will not be returning.

Not Good!

by JusSayin

My husband, son and I went to Amedeo's last night. Everytime we go, we get the lasagna, which has always been AWESOME! It was horrible! The meat tasted awful and it was dry.

My child got the kids pizza which had 1/2 to 3/4" of cheese on it. It was just too much and he didn't eat that, either.

Not sure what has happened because we have been a couple of times since the new owners bought it and the food was still good. However, it is obvious they have changed the lasagna recipe. If we want Amedeo's lasagna we will have to go to Amedeo's north!

Outstanding Service

by nianniello

I visited Amedeos last night after having the worse service ever about 2 months prior. I sat in the bar and was waited on by a friendly and entertaining bartender named Laura. Not only was she a great bartender (had the best Long Island Iced tea ever), but she made me comfortable and happy to be there. I had a cheesestak and fries which was unbelievable, but also had such a good laugh. I highly suggest that anyone who loves the bar scene as I do and wants to have great food and service to visit tthe "NEW" Amedeos. Maybe I will see you there!!!!!

Much, much improved

by raleigh diner

I have recently (last few months) started going back to Amedeo's after an extended absence, and I am happy to report that it is significantly better than it was a few years (or even one year) ago. The place is clean, has fresh paint, there are new TVs in the bar area, and the wait staff is friendly and professional. They have great specials (beer, appetizers) and very solid, if not exceptional, food. I enjoy going after work for some beers or on the weekends to eat pizza and watch football. Despite all of the NCSU paraphernalia on the walls, the place is not exclusively populated by Wolfpackers, which I like. If you were turned off by this place in the past, I urge you to give it another shot. I don't know what prompted all of these changes (new ownership?), but they are for the better.

Best Italian Restaurant

by sitara3

I have been eating at Amedeos for ten years or more, I have always enjoyed their food. The new owners have really cleaned the place up and the menu has not changed much that I can tell. I have always enjoyed their pizza and the pasts rocks.

I would recommend this place to anybody, they are family friendly, the bar is a great place to watch sports. Very friendly staff.
