Tips for Amedeo's Italian Restaurant

Pretty Disappointed. My husband and I ate at Amedeo's last night and were excited to try a new restaurant. We also made a point to spend our money at a restaurant that was locally owned.

Shortly after being seated, "one of the owners" introduced himself to the table of college students behind us. Apparently there were new specials/promotions geared toward attracting college students. While the service from our waitress and the food was good we left with a bad taste in our mouths. Throughout our meal this gentleman spoke to every table around us but never even glanced in our direction. Apparently we were too old. In fact he even stood in front of our table waiting for an opportunity to speak with other tables and never even asked how our meal was or thanked us for choosing to dine there. As we were leaving this same gentleman was standing at the hostess stand and did not even say "good evening" or smile in our direction. It was very clear that the owner at Amedeo's did not value our business and because of this we will not be returning.

As the majority owner operater let me assure you that the individual (minority shareholder) you mention did not reflect our philosphy of providing ALL customers with an enjoyable dining experience.

I apologize for his rudeness and your disappointing experience. Since you say the food and service were good, please give us another try and if you are disappointed again, call me personally at Amedeos. Sincerely, David Harris

Not Good!. My husband, son and I went to Amedeo's last night. Everytime we go, we get the lasagna, which has always been AWESOME! It was horrible! The meat tasted awful and it was dry.

My child got the kids pizza which had 1/2 to 3/4" of cheese on it. It was just too much and he didn't eat that, either.

Not sure what has happened because we have been a couple of times since the new owners bought it and the food was still good. However, it is obvious they have changed the lasagna recipe. If we want Amedeo's lasagna we will have to go to Amedeo's north!

Outstanding Service. I visited Amedeos last night after having the worse service ever about 2 months prior. I sat in the bar and was waited on by a friendly and entertaining bartender named Laura. Not only was she a great bartender (had the best Long Island Iced tea ever), but she made me comfortable and happy to be there. I had a cheesestak and fries which was unbelievable, but also had such a good laugh. I highly suggest that anyone who loves the bar scene as I do and wants to have great food and service to visit tthe "NEW" Amedeos. Maybe I will see you there!!!!!

Best Italian Restaurant. I have been eating at Amedeos for ten years or more, I have always enjoyed their food. The new owners have really cleaned the place up and the menu has not changed much that I can tell. I have always enjoyed their pizza and the pasts rocks.

I would recommend this place to anybody, they are family friendly, the bar is a great place to watch sports. Very friendly staff.

Best Italian in Town. Dear Anonymous Ass Hole,

First of all you must not be aware of the newly renovated Amedeo's. My friend and I ate there the other night and the owners were nice enough to let us look around. Not only did I not observe roaches or flies, but I could only hope that all restaurants in Raleigh are as clean as Amedeo's on Western Blvd.

After speaking to one of the owners I feel like they are respectful to their employees and their returning, loyal customers.

I have been eating at Amedeo's for 15 years, I'm sure they had their reasons as to why they let this guy go, but this still doesn't make them evil people.

I will continue to eat at Amedeo's for the great food, the friendly atmosphere, and even more so for how the new owners made me feel during my dining experience on March 16th.

And I just want to add one more thing, now that they make Eggplant Parmesan with fresh eggplant instead of frozen, I will be eating there more often.

p.s. The owners told us that they just took over ownership in February, so how would you know how it is now if you left 5 months ago?! It sounds like you are a pissed off employee and people like you should not be allowed to post things that aren't true.

New Owners. I am part of the new ownership team and would like to reply to the previous employee review.

First of all, we bought the restaurant literally as it was going out of business and I hope to rekindle the tradition that Amedeos had been known for so many years and of course to make a profit. We also have over 75 years of combined restaurant experience. We have cleaned up the kitchen and re-modeled it. Our food is made fresh and we strive for perfection. Unfortunately there are previous stockholders and employees who are trying desperately to prevent that. We employee over 50 workers who need their jobs and work very hard and do not deserve such a terrible review. I hope you will try it for yourself and not listen to a bunch of sour grapes. I stand by my restaurant and products. If you want a true employee testimonial, ask for our 47 year pizza maker, Lynell.

It's about time. Amedeos has been around for years and has been a great place. Seems like since they renovated a few things and spruced it up, the quality of food and service has improved also. Glad I gave it another try,

Good homemade italian food!. Me and my husband went here this past Saturday for the first time and we were very impressed. Both of our dinners were so good...and the service was awesome. I won't go anywhere else now for Italian food...that is the place to go!

DISGUSTING. I took my girlfriend on a date here and the food was terrible, my pasta with clam sauce made me sick even though I only took a few bites, the place was dirty, and the service was terrible.

Let us know when the calamari starts to be made fresh. I've eaten at Amedeos a good amount of times over the past 10 years. The price of the food and the quality matched each other 10 years ago but now, the prices have gone up and the quality has remained the same. I would say it is a bit overpriced. It is interesting to order the 'choose your pasta and topping' entree because sometimes the topping is not necessarily cooked in with the sauce. I've had angel hair with garlic butter and raw onions sprinkled on top and I've also had a cooked sausage link lain across linguine in alfredo sauce. Oh- and ask about the calamari before you order it. Last time I didn't and it was the thickly sliced, thickly breaded kind that could have been frozen and made you feel like you were chewing a tire. I've always eaten their pasta entrees but the place is so charming, I'll go back to see what their pizza is like, although Frank's is a major contender. Some good choices at Amedeos include the lasagna and pasta primavera.
