Raleigh >Dalat Oriental Restaurant
Bad service, Bad food. Unfortunately this place has been going down over the years. They used to have very good food but over the past few years, every time I go it's been getting worse and today was really bad. My HOT ginger green tea was barely warm and after sending it back once you could barely taste the ginger. My food was cold and one of the ingredients (lettuce) was the ingredient I saw the most in the dish. They never had good service so I won't complain about that since I didn't expect it in the first place. Not going back.
THE BEST VIETNAMESE IN THE REGION...PERIOD !.
What's not to love about this place ?!!!
We are originally from New York City and relocating to the famed Triangle posed a conundrum for us foodies...My wife read about Lee ( the pleasant owner ) and about DALAT 3 years ago, and ever since we relocated, she and her niece Cindy have been our friends.
The charming Asian hospitality, attention to comfort and details of taste will attract you to this establishment. It's like having your mom or big sister spoil you while you are eating ( which Asians are known to become around the dining table )
By the way, I am biased because I am Asian. But I ABSOLUTELY GUARANTEE the readers, this is a MUST STOP when you have that craving for Pho or any other Asian cuisine...
SO GO GET YOUR KEYS AND DRIVE PEOPLE !
cheap vietnamiese. it is close to ncstate it has great food and it is very cheap
Best Vietnamese food in town. I have been eating here for 9 years. The staff is friendly and helpful and the food has never disapointed. I recommend this restaurant to anyone. I have never seen unsightly or below par atmosphere. Very good.
Greasy Tables and below average service.
We have been to this restaurant twice, the second time against our better judgment.
Both times, the tables were sticky, flies were all over the place, the menu was limited, the food was not good and the service was hectic.
The second experience was by far the worst.: When I asked the waitress whether a certain dish had wheat in it, she started arguing that rice is wheat and would not go ask the chef . Eventually she came back and said that there is no wheat in the dish but I still didn't trust that she even understood the question.
Tofu takeout disappointment. Very disappointed by take out meal. I'm no expert on this kind of thing but I am a vegetarian so I order a lot of 'tofu with veggies"-like meals. This evenings was a complete waste of money. The tofu has a completely unnatural fleshy color, all the pieces are soggy, and have the appearance of tripe. The veggies - broccoli and carrot slices - are overcooked and discolored. I took about half a sip of the egg-drop soup and that was all I could stand. The fried veggie roll appetizers were their only saving grace and I wish I just spent my money on more of those. But! I did just have a deja vu that included this food from a dream I had like 7 years ago, so that's pretty cool. People seem to really like Delat. From this one meal it'll be awhile before I go back.
Delicious!. Delicious, authentic Vietnamese cuisine. A must try! The waitperson was extremely knowledgeable and interested in my satifaction. I will return.
Best Vietnamese food in the Triangle. My family and I have eaten at Dalat for almost 10 years. The Vietnamese food there are excellent, the staffs are very nice and friendly. They always remember us and know what we like. However, the owner is very short and talk too much. She is crazy in my eyes. The young lady works there is very nice.
Very Good Selection of Vegetarian Dishes.
We ate here tonight with some friends. The reviews out there that the restaurant is filthy and waiters are rude are untrue. I saw no ants or ro*ches and everyone was really helpful. Our waiter seemed a bit confused, but he promptly got the owner to be our waitress. She was very helpful in helping us choose vegan dishes. She was very friendly, upbeat and quite frankly, hilarious. She was the highlight of our evening. She also let us know that the "tofu crepes" on the menu are made with rice flour, and that the only thing eggy about them was the egg color. So they are vegan. We did not try them though.
We all shared the dalat rolls with tofu, Tofu with Lemongrass on Vermicelli, Tofu with Chili and Lemongrass, Grilled tofu with vermicelli and the famous tofu sub. I think we got the grilled tofu sub when what we should have gotten was the marinated tofu sub, but it was still very good, and had a chicken-like consistency as did the grilled tofu with vermicelli. Overall, the concensus was that the Tofu with Chili and Lemongrass was the best dish. I would definitely go back to try more entrees.
NOTE: They are closed Sundays
dirty and AC does not work. The last time we were there the tables/walls/floors were very dirty. I will not go back. They need to clean the place.
