OVERCHARGED! – I took my kitten, Li Na, to this vet for her first round of kitten shots. Afterwards I was billed a ridiculous 200 dollars. For those with any cat experience this is way too much. I even later found out they did a pricey 65$ test on my cat that she didn't even need as a strictly indoor cat (a fact they were made aware of multiple times before getting the shots). Do NOT take your cat here unless you have a money tree; any vet is cheaper and more knowledgeable about the shots/tests kittens really need.
Top notch vet care – Boulevard has taken excellent care of my various dogs over the last 20 years and I have never been disappointed. They are very conscientious, experienced, kind to the pets and people, honest, and stay on the cutting edge of new medical developments. Their prices are lower than most, they are price- conscious about your budget, and the medical care my dogs have received is exceptional. They have pulled my dogs through a bad car accident, a genetic deformity, a back problem, and finally gave palliative care to my dog with cancer that enabled her to live another year pain free, happy, and active before she was finally and compassionately euthanized. I am very grateful for all the care they have shown my beloved dogs. I cannot recommend Boulevard highly enough.
Extremely Poor Experience - Painful for Pet – I would not recommend this practice to anyone. The veterinary staff was very rough with my cat during a nail trim, clipping the "quick" on most of his nails causing him pain and bleeding. The front desk staff is also extremely incompetent. I had requested a simple nail trim for an ingrown nail and for whatever reason the front desk communicated to the vet staff that a full physical exam was also needed. It was not communicated to me at anytime that a physical exam was scheduled or needed. At the end of the visit, I was charged over $80 for a standard nail trim that at most veterinary practices costs less than $15. They were extremely dismissive toward my protests against the unnecessary charges and services. Not only do I feel bewildered over the pain caused to my pet, but very frustrated with the front desk and their apathy toward my concerns. I will not visit this practice again.
Good vet (been through basic stuff), GREAT groomer! – The vets are good (I can't say too much b/c thank goodness I haven't been through anything traumatic - just the usual checkups and shots). However, the groomer there, Nancy, is spectatular. She is kind, very good with the dogs and I would never take my little shihtzu to anyone else!
Vet's knowledge saved my cat's life – I have taken my cats to Blvd Animal Hospital for six years. In early September my oldest cat was completely unable to walk and had lost sense of balance. I took her in and with great treatment and care almost two months later she is back to normal. We really thought we were going to loose her, but the doctor at Blvd. saved her life.
The doctor called with updates and took quite a bit of time explaining what was going on with her medically. The staff is very patient and courteous.
Best Veterinary facility in Wake County. – It is my opinion that Boulevard Animal Hospital is the best veterinary facility in the county. I have been a client for over 19 years and my pets have included a ferret and 4 dogs. The care that all of my pets have received has been superior. The first two dogs that were cared for at Boulevard lived 16 years! The staff is well grounded, working off of the experience of "veteran" veterinarians while cycling through young "rising stars", many from the NCSU Vet school. Some own their own practices now. One of our dogs had an emergency surgery when she was 10 years old. She came very near to death before we were able to get her to the doctor, but Boulevard started emergency treatment and surgery the second we got there and saved her life. She lived 6 more years and was healthy and happy. Our second dog was treated through renal failure and lived a healthy quality life for two more years after diagnosis because of a treatment that they taught us to do at home. When the end was near for one of our babies, the veterinarian came to the house to administer euthenasia so that we would not spend our last minutes with our beloved dog in a sterile room. She then wrapped her body in a baby blanket and cradled her away, taking care of the task of delivering her for cremation so that we would not have to.
We now have two more spunky little bundles of energy who are receiving the same great care. If you need an appointment they can usually work you in right away. From what I understand, their prices are more reasonable than other vets in the area. Every doctor that we have ever worked with there has been great as well as the staff. We can say enough good things about them.
I do not have experience with boarding at this facility, but we do go to the groomer that works through them and are very, very pleased with the work that she does and with her prices.
Not impressed – They took my puppy away from me to do the exam...her dosages were incorrect and made her extremely sick. Never would i bring either of my puppies for a check-up or a emergency.
Excellent care, reasonable prices – Our 3 cats have received excellent care at Boulevard and the prices are much lower than nearby veternarians. I feel it's my duty as an animal lover to warn everyone that I had exactly the opposite experience at Oberlin. Boulevard has a caring staff, can often get pets in on short notice, and are extremely patient with pet owner education. I can't recommend them highly enough.
Best Dr. – Dr. Allen at Boulevard Animal Hospital is simply wonderful - no other word for it. In the 1960's when Dr. Allen was at Boulevard, he care for our family pet. I was only a young girl at that time and he was so kind and caring. As an adult, I got a puppy for our daughter and was so glad when Dr. Allen cared for Delilah on her first 10 week visit. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Dr. Allen.
Boarding – While the veterinary service has always been great- I would not recommend using Boulevard Animal Hospital if you are looking for a place to board your pets.
