Raleigh >Frances T King Stationery
Job well done!!. I am graduating this May from college. The prices for invitations offered through the school are outrageous so i bought generic invitations and went to Francis T on Lassiter Mill Road. I placed my order on a Friday afternoon and I received my emailed proof by Wednesday morning. They spelled everything correctly and I was called on Friday afternoon and picked up my order with no hassle! The staff was friendly and very helpful. I will definitely be going back in the near future!
By FAR THE WORST.. I called to make sure I could get my printing done that day...sure! no problem, but there was way more than one problem! I just needed one document and one envelop printed out. They didn't even have regular white paper in stock. Everything is way overstocked for the small store, and you'll be leaving spinning hot pink and paisley by the time you attempt to have a conversation with the girl behind the desk who is about as smart as a bag of bricks. There is NO CAMERON location, but they handed out flyers to let everyone know that. I spoke with the manager who was nice, while the owners dog would not shut up. It looked like lace blew up the back room. I would run far away. I hate to say this...but it's completely true=I had way better service at KINKO'S!
Take your printing jobs elsewhere. If you expect a quality print job done in a timely fashion…do NOT use Frances King Stationary (North Hills Location). I inquired about a small job (15 invitations and envelopes) on a Tuesday and was promised that they could have them ready by the weekend. The following Wednesday evening (3 days later than promised) they were ready but the color of the type was not as expected. The first email proof had sloppy errors (street address was missing a number and the “.” was missing from the RSVP email address) which slowed down the process. When I questioned the color of the type on the emailed proof, I was assured that the type would print on the paper as expected…it did not. It came out much lighter. When I picked up the invitations, I was told that the block of color on the sample color chart appears darker than when actually printed because the block on the color chart is much larger than the printed letters. It would have been nice if they had explained this when I requested this shade so that I could have picked a darker color! An older review stated, “Overall, you get the feeling they do not want or need your business – so why give it to them?” I couldn’t agree more and wish I had heeded that advice.
Velvet Rope is DOWN!! Service is UP!. I would have never thought I'd see the day I'd feel compelled to rate Frances King (Cameron location) with 5 stars -- but I'm here to truthfully attest that they NOW deserve every accolade. I completely agree with previous posts of snobby behavior from the staff. In the past, they never failed to make me feel like I was some homeless person who'd stumbled off the street. Not so now! Throwing caution to the wind - I ventured in again and almost thought I'd accidently walked into Tookie's Toys -- everyone was so NICE!! And not condesendingly so - but geniunely helpful. I was also pleased with the number of lower-cost options of Christmas cards I found - very stylish! - compared to Swoozie's. Now, I cannot speak for the customer service at the North Hills location -- but the "ladies" at Cameron that I encountered before - are vamos! And the new staff is a welcome relief. I will definitely be a return customer. (And yes,....it's tinier and the shelves are crowded.....but I can deal with the cramped quarters to find unique items with friendly service.)
nice store, rude staff. I went into Frances T. King Stationary to purchase a gift having been there in the past and knowing they carry good quality, unique stationary and gift items. The expirience I had in the store, however, was enough to make me take my business elsewhere. I was the only customer in the store at the time, but the two young ladies behind the counter just pointed me to a corner and returned to their conversation. They were speaking very loudly, making fun of customers and what not, which made me uncomfortable enough to leave. This is a great store, but the owner really needs to work on hiring more customer service oriented staff.
A Different Set of Eyes. I went in search of fine stationary because I had a very important letter to write. I live near Cameron Village so Frances King Stationary was convenient for me but I had stopped going there several years ago because I thought the service was not good, or friendly. Since I was short on time, I thought I'd just "gut it out" this time and get what I needed. I knew they'd have the quality I need, even though I wasn't going to hold my breath for the red carpet treatment. To my surprise, the sales staff was super helpful and very pleasant, while giving me the space to ponder my "fine paper needs." I learned that there was a new owner with new staff and I found the entire experience very positive. Yes, they do have a lot of items packed in a small space but I appreciated having a selection. I purchased everything I needed and had no issue paying for the quality of the items I selected. Now I just have to start writing!!!!!!!
Good merchandise, but poor customer service. I have been shopping at Frances King for over a decade, only because they used to be one of the few stores to stock top notch stationery. However, now that the Triangle has other stationers that carry quality papers, I avoid Frances King because the staff is incredibly snobby - even when you are placing/picking up an expensive order. The store is often poorly merchandised, with almost no room to walk. (It's amazing how many baskets of cocktail napkins can fit in one small space!) As another reviewer mentioned, the staff is always involved in lenghtly personal chats, and often do not even acknowledge the presence of customers. Overall, you get the feeling they do not want or need your business - so why give it to them?
Great Service!. I have been shopping at Frances King for years, and I am always pleased with the service, products and the personality of all the girls that work there. I would highly recommend Frances King to everyone in the triangle.
Frances T. King Stationary - Wonderful. The staff at Frances T. King always has been polite and wonderfully informed about the merchandise carried in the store. The paper products are exceptional, and the gifts are lovely.
Snobby!. Seriously, this is the snobbiest store in all of Cameron Village, which is really saying something. Maybe it was just the time that I went in, but I was totally ignored and then spoken to rudely when I went in to pick up a (hideous) item that a friend had on hold. The salespeople were all standing around chatting with each other and acted put off to have to help me. I'm an adult with a fairly preppy look and usually don't have this kind of response in Cameron Village stores. I didn't look around for long, but it looked like your typical upscale stationary shop.
