Bacon!!!.
But if you get their premium bacon, it is made by Nueske out of Wisconsin. That is the best you can buy and impossible to find anywhere else in Raleigh.

Overpriced.......Poor quality and Service..
Very unhappy with the quality and service of The Fresh Market. Noticed as I was waiting at the meat counter, an employee filled their market style bacon. It came out of a Smithfield box. Same stuff you buy at Food Lion for $3 a pound cheaper. Also the premium pork they sell under the Murphy's Farm label is really Smithfield..go to their website. Deli salads come out of a container and they make virtually nothing in house. Fresh???? The stuff must be loaded with preservatives. I will say they produce is pretty good, although they have a big fly problem around the tomatoes, which leads me to believe they have some sanitation issues. Cashiers barely acknowledge you, you would figure at those prices they could at least act like they value your business. Get much better service from Harris Teeter. My wife just recently returned some moldy product and did not even get a "sorry about that" from the cashier. I also noticed the low health ratings. For the prices they charge and the image they project I would expect much better of them. They have lost my business thats for sure.

High prices and low santitation ratings.
Fresh Market is a high-end, high-price store but their sanitation ratings are lower than I would have expected. The one by my house on the Cary Parkway has a 91 for the sanitation rating in the deli department and a 90.5 in the meat market. Still an A rating, I suppose, but the Harris Teeter nearby has a rating of 101. And, the Fresh Market deli at that location has had such a rating for over a year.
For such high prices and supposedly premium foods, I would expect them to place more emphasis on their sanitation.

Nice produce.
I really like Fresh Market for produce. It's best to go on Sunday mornings when it's dead. Meat is a little expensive and selection is a bit limited in the aisles, but this is the only place that I can get consistently great produce. The music is nice and relaxing too!

Come here if....
...you want to see a bunch of spoiled, snobby people abuse a generally nice and accomodating set of employees. There isn't enough room here to list all the bad, incredibly overentitled customer behavior I've witnessed while shopping here. The store itself is fine -- it's pricey, and the store's name is a bit deceptive, but the people who wait on you are usually pleasant.

Better than a Grocery Store!.
This is a wonderful place, with a friendly staff, and excellent pastries and produce! I love their in-store made chicken salad and pimento cheese spreads! They have a very eclectic selection that you will not find in other markets in the area. The atmosphere is very soothing! The prices are a little high, but you have to pay for quality! These guys have done a wonderful job, and I commend them!
