Raleigh >Crystal Palace
Not what I expected. Well the service in the beginning was fine it was 10 people at this table...I read the reviews before I went to this restaurant and I said that I will see for myself and well....the food was not good, a lot of the food was tasteless as I read in one review on this restaurant. And well the buffet style which I like its all you can eat, but then if you get crablegs it can be a little costly but what do you expect when it is all you can eat...but when you have 10 people at a table and one of the waiters are watching your every move to make sure that you are not sharing a PIECE of crableg to your child I guess they figure they are losing money...I mean boy were the waiters policing us the whole entire time we where there....and when it came time to pay that was the longest 15-30 mins of my life, they over charged us the grautity and we had to act out a little in there in which we as the customer were right and they were wrong with the total, it was so bad that the cashier tried to scare us and say that the police were outside since i guess he was feeling unsafe around us because he overcharged us, boy was that something!!!...also this place is a fire hazard when you can not get by because you have workers who can not count and then other people trying to get into the restaurant to eat some tasteless food.... I guess it is to each own!!! everybody has a different outlook on this restaurant I just know that I will not be going back there again... The best thing on the menu was the Water...and mind you we are on a water restriction...lol

one of my fav chinese buffets!.
i've never had a bad experience here!
there is SO much to pick from.they
have a hibachi grill set up so they can
make custom items for you :)
they also have fresh crab legs!
Crableg Lover. I don't eat Chinese food, but Crystal Palace is one of my favorite restaurants in Raleigh because of their all-u-can eat crab legs.
Best Chinese Buffet in Raleigh. I'm from N.Y. state and have found that the Crystal Palace has the BEST Chinese Buffet in the area. The food is ALWAYS hot and replaced "constantly". It has the biggest selection than any of the other buffets. The waiters are filling beverages immediately. I have recommended the Crystal Palace to everyone I know!
Pretty Good. The food was excellent. The buffet is kept with fresh food and there is much variety to choose from. However if you add crab legs to your meal, it can become a little pricy. But all in all, I have had great experiences at the Crystal Palace buffet. Definitely not a romance spot, but you like a good selection of chinese food, Crystal Palace is the place for you. Eat up and Enjoy.
Don't go here for flavor.. The most bland, tasteless Chinese food I have ever had. The food is boring and has no spice. A big dissapointment.
the worst restaurant experience. The manager of the restaraunt and waist staff was rude to our party of 30+. Some of the party were not allowed to sit in a so called reserved area that was never used by anyone while were in the establishment. The wait staff continually ignored our requests for drinks, refills, and additional napkins. The manager and cashier argued with the group over our refusal to pay the gratuity because of the horrible service. The manager and wait staff were very unprofessional.
Pretty good for buffet.
Hardly "the worst food ever" by any stretch of the imagination, but this *is* a buffet and to be fair should not be compared to more cosy sit-down restraunts.
Crystal Palace always has an excellent selection of hot, fresh food on the buffet. They have a special buffet just for kids (fish sticks, chicken fingers, mac and cheese plus more), as well as salad bar, dessert bar and choice selection of grilled items. All food is prepared without MSG, and plenty of options for vegetarians.
Premises are large and somewhat impersonal, and the food selection is certainly more American than authentic Chinese. But there's generally something for everyone, which makes it a great place for lunch events and large groups. Also a good place to take kids (which I see many of on my regular visits)
Definitely not a good option for a date or other romantic plans.
Not just the worst Chinese food.... The lunch buffet was, without a doubt, THE worst meal I've had in my 3+ years in the Triangle. Vile, overcooked glop, most of it tasteless, the rest of it inedibly bad, all of it sitting far too long in steam trays. Expensive, too, at $6.25/person, plus another $1.25 each for a teeny tiny pot of hot tea.
