I order a Lamb Madras (not on menu) with coconut added and it is fantastic. My wife like the Lamb Curry. Friendly staff and consistent food.

I am from India and my staple entree at Indian restaurant is Chicken Curry with breads ( Naan or Paratha or Roti) and they have the best authentic curry in Raleigh. The breads and rice are excellent. I have only tried the buffet a few times and I like the fact they are one of the few Indian buffets with samosas on the buffet. Yes it is not a great location and all of you "followers" who are concerned about how many people are in the restaurant order samosas as an appetizer and Chicken Curry with Paratha as your entree-give me excellent food over ambience any day !!

We've been here a handful of times and always experience these things: No other customers in the restaurant, a buffet of items that have become stale from sitting around, and just adequate customer service--no effort to make us feel like they're there to make our experience a nice one. I'd recommend that people visit instead Bombay Kitchen, just a couple of miles away in North Raleigh, great food, great customer service, a nicer warmer atmosphere. We will probably give Taj a try again and I don't mean to paint the food there to be horrible by any means, but it's certainly not our first choice for Indian restaurants in the area. Take the time to make a few comparisons on your own and I'll guarantee, you'll see what I mean. Particularly if you're a vegetarian. Another fantastic Indian restaurant, albeit further afield from North Raleigh (in Cary) is Udupi Cafe. Highest recommendations to these two. I wasn't too impressed with this one, or with the Indian restaurant down the road on Capital Blvd, next to Long John Silvers (the name escapes me right now). Just my 2 cents...
