total rip-off

Maybe things have changed since others reviewed this place years ago. This was a total waste of money. Every adult is required to pay a $5 admission even though they are only watching their children play.. We were there with 3- 11 month olds. If they had already turned a year, we would have had to pay for them as well, totalling $25, even though the infant/baby area is not much more than what you would find in the average waiting room at the doctor's office. Hopefully, in its new location, it will be less of a scam.
- Pros: none
- Cons: rip-off
Not worth the $5 per person to get in

I was very disappointed in Playspace. I'd already been to the Children's Museum in Greensboro and expected Raleigh to have something on par with that in "Playspace". The Playspace was a small, shabby version that had a very run-down, poor inner-city feel to it. Not what I expected for the $5 per person we were charged at the door.
The location itself is just one big storefront. As you walk in the front door you can actually see everything there is to do. All the activities are very cramped together and there wasn't much room to really play without getting run over by other children.
Several things were broken/not working properly.
My daughter did enjoy the Thomas the Train play table and the grocery shopping area where she could put things in and out of a cart. The grocery area was only large enough to accomodate 2 children playing comfortably though.
We were through with the place in an hour- there really wasn't much to hold any child's attention for long. This probably explains why so many children were just running through the place.
Also, there was a large group of unruly children that nobody was keeping up with. I had to speak to one of them myself- after which a staff member finally approached the child. Obviously lack of parenting is mainly to blame there- but I would expect the staff to keep more on top of the situation so that the area is kept enjoyable and safe for everyone.
All in all, a very disappointing experience. I will not be going back and I will be telling my friends to avoid that location.
I'm actually willing to drive to Greensboro to enjoy the Children's Museum there rather than spend another $15 on such a poor experience at Playspace.
- Pros: Good location, easy parking, hand sanitizer available
- Cons: cramped, shabby, not much of interest

I bring my 2 year old once in awhile as a special treat. He LOVES it. Good interaction with other kids- gets to play with things we don't have on hand at home.
For $5 a person I think it's a great deal. If you go more than a few times a year I would just go ahead and get the year long pass ($80-I think)
