There were cigarette burns all through the comforter and blankets, which we found when we have peeled back the blankets which we had already decided looked too dirty to sleep under. The room was dark and dingy, curtains falling off their tracks. We did not feel particularly safe here either. If your a single woman, or with a family don't stay here. We ended up getting our money back and getting a wonderfully clean and spacious room at the clarion just down the road for an additional $7 per night. Only good thing I have to say is the receptionist was very understanding and was willing to refund our money.
Don't stay longer than one night. I wouldn't suggest this motel. I have stayed at several different motels and when it comes down to it this one pales in comparison. The motel and the room that I stayed in had a foul smell that could only be coming from the stained unkempt carpet. The phones, the hair dryer, the iron, the ironing board were all dingy and oily and dirty. The microwave and fridge were kind of clean if you like kind of when it comes to your appliances. The door latch broke off after I attached it. The ice bucket had some sort of crumbs in it. The bathroom was ok except for the stains in the toilet and the dirty hand towels and it wasn't your run of the mill "everyone uses it and we wash it after to get the coffee stain out dirt". It was like the maid didn't want to use a paper towel to clean the mirror and used the hand towels to do so. The service was okay depending on what you wanted. If you wanted a cab they would call it for you. If you wanted to know where the modem was so that you could get a signal to connect to the "free internet access" you can forget it. They had an "oh well too bad what do you expect for the price" attitude that I didn't like at all. Free breakfast is continental which is okay, but sour milk isn't and neither is month old bagels. Stick to the bread and microwave it because the toaster is dust filled and it looked like someone might have tried to put wet food in it. Don't bother with the patio since it is not a nice view and not very relaxing with a pool of water sitting under the chairs and tables. All in all if you just want to watch television and then sleep be their guest, but don't eat there, don't bathe there, don't iron your clothes, leave your laptop at home since you can't use it there, don't expect much help unless you want a cab and most importantly DON'T breathe because it stinks everywhere in that motel.
Downtown digs at off-the-beaten-path rates..
The Scene
The accommodations are clean and comfy, but the best part of these bargain rates is the location in the heart of the city. You can walk to the state government complex, including the Legislative Building and the State Capitol, as well as the BTI Performing Arts Center. It is also convenient to many area universities.
The Details
The 55 rooms are accessed through interior corridors. They have cable TV and phones. Only the business suite has Internet access. Don't expect any extra facilities; if you want a pool, fitness center or the like, check in elsewhere. There is plenty of parking, though, which is always a plus in an urban setting.
