What People Are Saying About Rockford

In Short – What you'll find here are old-fashioned touches, like antique mirrors over the bar and creaking hardwood floors, that mix with modern furniture and contemporary artwork to create an eclectic atmosphere. Soft lighting and the small, intimate space are ideal for dates or cozy dinners with friends. Satisfy your appetite with a variety of choices that range from classics, like club sandwiches and garden burgers, to black bean humms and focaccia sandwiches.

Editor's Tips

Know Before You Go:
If you've got a big crowd, this is probably not the place you want to go--Rockford doesn't seat parties larger than eight.

Great Dining Experience

by KBD19

Loved the atmosphere and food! I like how they put small twists on their menu items. I would recommend sitting on the porch balcony for dinner if it's nice out.

The Rockford is back!

by jphurst

As a long-time customer of the Rockford, I was worried that the new incarnation would be lacking. But my wife and I had dinner there on Thursday night and found that it was as good as ever. They seem to have kept almost everything the same, from the menu to the decor. We each had the Mission Burrito with a cucumber salad. While it wasn't EXACTLY the same as before, it was close enough, and most importantly, very good. It wasn't a busy night, but the service was exactly what you would want from any restaurant.

It has always amazed me how many negative reviews this place gets. I've experienced poor service a few times, but compared to how many times I've been there, the small percentage is probably what you would get almost anywhere. So when I read terrible reviews like the one below, I can only say: Yes! The Rockford is back, and as good as ever! :)

  • Pros: excellent value, laid back, cozy atmosphere
  • Cons: none

UPDATED: When 20 out of 60 reviews are negative...

by HusbandMan1980

I wrote a review that apparently upset some people, so I am going to edit the review.

Still only giving 1 star, but I won't give all of the reasons. For me personally, it was the worst dining experince ever. And I've had a lot. I miss the old Rockford, but with the new ownership, I am sad to say, "R.I.P. to the TRUE Rockford..."

  • Pros: Atmosphere
  • Cons: Food overpriced for the quality, Poor Service

Terrible Service

by jzealy

I went to the Rockford while I was on my lunch break. As soon as I ordered my food, I asked the waitress if I could also pay at that time becuase I had to get back to work. It took 20-25 minutes for me to get a Turkey Rueben!

When my food came, I asked for a box as I now did not even have time to eat before I had to get back to work. Rather than bringing me a box as she went to 2 other tables, she ignored my request. I finally got up to ask her again for a box and she proceeded to have an attitude and never once appologized to me for the service which in turn made me late getting back to work without so much as getting to eat the food I paid for.

I am not one to complain about restaurants because I have waited tables myself and still do as a second job. However, when you pay to eat somewhere and this type of service is what you get in return, I felt compelled to post something about this.

Not a good way to conduct business!

  • Pros: Good food
  • Cons: Slow service

Service needs work

by howiekit

The food has always been pretty good and I have never had an issue with service. However, last night we had the most rude waitress I can ever remember (at any restaurant). That's all it takes to ruin a place when there are so many other great places to eat in town.

  • Pros: nice atmosphere
  • Cons: waitress/hostess
