Great Hotel BUT.... It's a great hotel but if any of you are looking to save some $$ then book it at referer.us/8/GoodHotelDeals They usually have some pretty good deals on there!
WORST HOTEL EVER, DO NOT STAY IN RDU AREA. RUDE SERVICE, OVERPRICE HOTEL FROM THE MOMENT YOU WALK INTO THE DOOR. THIS CITY IS LIKE A BAD ATM WITH VISITORS. YOU PAY OUT FROM THE MOMENT YOU GET OFF THE PLANE. WE WILL NEVER COME BACK HERE AGAIN. WORST CITY THAT WE HAVE EVER BEEN. IT LIKE BEING BACK INTO 1950. BEFORE THIS TERRIBLE MESS OF A HOTEL, WE WERE AT TWO OTHERS. THE ENTIRE TIME WE WERE SPENDING MONEY LEFT AND RIGHT FOR BASIC SERVICES. THIS IS NOT A GOOD PLACE TO VISIT OR TO DO BUSINESS. RUDE PEOPLE, TERRIBLE UNTRAINED SERVICE, OVERPRICED RESTAURANTS, HOTEL, AND DO NOT USE CAB SERVICE. DUE TO THE FACT THE DOWNTOWN HOTELS DOES NOT HAVE SHUTTLES, WE WERE FORCE TO PAY $65.00 DOLLARS FOR A CAB RIDE AND THE TRIP WAS LESS THAN 12 MILES. WE WILL NEVER RETURN BACK HERE TO THIS PART OF NORTH CAROLINA AGAIN..........GO TO ANOTHER TOWN.........OR STATE............
Shiesty Rooftop Bar. Went to the Clarion's rooftop bar for a party and ended up getting over-charged for drinks. When confronted, the bartender took off the extra charges (about $20 more) only to add them later when I looked at my bank statement.
nice view. this hotel has a great rooftop view of the city, especially at night- nice bar and friendly staff as well. also nice decor. non smoking bar- woohoo!
Secure your valueables before you leave your room.. I stayed here for one night only and when I left my room to visit a friend, i was only gone for 2 hours. In that very short period of time, my room was robbed and all my valueables were stolen! I notified the police and they caught the person the next day. There was no signs of forced entry into the room. There seemed to be no security in the hotel at all and only one camera in the entire building. I only recovered half of my property. The service was sub par and I feel the perpetrator knew someone on the inside. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone!
Don't waste your money. Stayed last weekend at the Clarion, only to have one of the worst experiences ever. The rooms were very sticky and hot. After talking with several guests we realized that this was the case in all rooms. After several complaints to the front desk, we still did not have a comfortable room. The front desk staff proved to be rude and unhelpful. The pool was unable to be used (would've been nice considering the temperature of our rooms) and the bar/restaurant was closed early. I was harassed by two men in the parking garage who were loitering and I had talked to another guest who said they had a man try to enter their hotel room around 3am the night before. I had requested that the front desk call us a taxi and that we needed a van to accommodate the 8 people we had with us, only to come down and find a regular cab. The rooms were very small and we found dead insects in the rooms and hallways. I could go on and on. The best thing about our time spent at this hotel was it's location downtown and checking OUT.
Awesome Restaurant. Great business hotel. It has a perfect downtown location, wireless internet access, and free parking. The restaurant on the 21st floor has views of everything in Raleigh. Sit by the window. The bar is good. Beware of the older bartender,(forgot his name), he'll talk your ear off just looking for tips. You may luck out and get one of their good looking younger helpers to make your trip enjoyable. Try the burgers or salmon, those are the only two I've ever ordered, and they are really good. Best downtown hotel in my opinion.
This kitschy hotel from the '70s is known for for panoramic views and a rooftop restaurant..
The Scene
From the 20th floor of this cylindrical tower set in the middle of downtown Raleigh, you'll get a bird's-eye view of the state legislative building's distinctive roof, church spires and the city's streets. Beyond the city limits, cement and glass buildings turn into lush trees, with an occasional steeple popping up. Any seat by the window gives an interesting view. On sunny days, the blinds may be closed.
The Details
The hotel has 202 rooms and two suites, plus an outdoor heated pool and a fitness center. Sparky the dog is welcome, and children under 19 stay free. Just going for dinner and a view: Bring the kids, they can eat for free.
