Filled with insecure twinks. If you're an insecure, young, southern gay male, you will like Legends. Otherwise, you will find the place to be filled with annoying gossip queens and backstabbers. Most of the people in the place (clients and staff) are rude to straights and anyone over 30, which seems ironically hypocritical coming from a group so discriminated against in the south. And there usually is drama in every corner. The place hasn't been upgraded in several years, so you'll find the place lacking the luster it apparently once had, and it's aging badly. Not impressive.
Decent enough. My husband and I went to Legends on a Saturday night recently, and the club was nearly empty. The music was good, the patio is a nice touch, and the drag show was fun! However, *some* of the crowd isn't friendly to the hetero-sexual couples. Legends can also be intimidating if you're not going with a group of friends.
staff rude. I've been to legends numerous times over the last 4 years. The staff at the front desk are quite rude, constantly. One made the remark to me "you DO know this is a GAY club, right?" Which was totally uncalled for. For being a gay club, they sure do act discriminately towards people that appear to be straight, which I am not.
Hottest Guys in Town. I'm so happy to have found this bar. It's like a second home now that I've come to town. Thanks for making me feel so welcome now that I'm out of the closet.
best gay club.
Great atmosphere everyone seems as if they are able to relax and enjoy the club
Music is awesome- sound system and dance floor are great
Fun crowd
Smoke free video bar is a thoughful idea
Not Just Young White Guys Anymore. This is a great spot for anyone who is open to all lifestyles and having a good time. Great music and a great vibe.
Popular nightspot caters to the see and be seen in Raleigh's gay community..
In Short
This happening gay bar is highlighted by textured walls, an L-shaped bar lit by paper lantern-style lights and a spacious dance floor. There are three areas: the low-key lounge, the high-energy dance club and the outdoor patio. The patio, with Greek columns and a fountain centerpiece, is ideal for mingling with the crowd. Saturdays the DJ spins the best dance tunes while a mix of hip, stylish gay and straight people get their groove on.
GREAT for straight couples too!.
My boyfriend had been to Legends with some friends before and when we met he took me there. I had no idea what to expect, since I'd never been to a gay/les club before but I LOVED IT! As a woman, I didn't have to deal with the crap you deal with at strictly straight bars (getting hit on, jerks, etc.).
The people there at Legends are all very accepting and it is the only place I've been in a long time where people will just come up to you to see if you're having a good time. We became regulars (I'm the asian chick with that HOT buzz-cut guy with the tattoo <3) but have fallen off the scene lately but we'll be making a comeback soon enough!
*Side note: He has to deal with being hit on more than I do! But people are very courteous about it and the atmosphere allows people to say hi to strangers and tell him they're looking good that night or just wanting to see how you're doing. Legends is a wild place and a great place to let loose!
HIGHLY recommended!!
New expansions have improved the place. Originally, Legends was your typical smoky gay dance club with the drag shows, shirtless boys, clubkids, etc. But in the past few years they've made some impressive expansions. Bigger outdoor patio for one. But the best part: "The View", their new Nonsmoking section with "Video bar" and larger pool & game room. You can't help but wonder why they didn't have these ten years ago? It has definitely made it from "just another gay bar" to a great destination for your night out.
