The Best food in town!!!. I've eaten in some on the best restaurants in New York, San francisco and Washington DC and Mccormick and Schmick is better!! I eat there everytime I get a chance. Long live McCormick and Schmick.
Average service, average food, above average price. Not my fave for seafood in Raleigh. The shimp and grits are to die for. The bbq sauce compliments the dish perfectly. Overall its a good place to eat.
not worth the price. The resturant is nicely decorated but the cost of the food is not worth the price. Our server seemed as if he did not want to be there and it really kind of spoiled our meal. We were not impressed and probably will not go back.
As Taco Bell is to Mexican - A joke.
This place is extremely dissappointing, and it is very expensive. If you go here you will have spent a bunch for nothing. If your boss wants to take you there tell him to save the company money.
I had an Oyster salad and I think it had 3 Oysters and a bunch of chopped tomatoes and onions. There was no seasoning. Others in my party had fish that was bland and poorly seasoned, if at all. It too was way overpriced.
Avoid this. Go get a fish sandwich at McDonalds and you'll enjoy it more than McCormick and Schmick's. VERY OVERPRICED (I want my money back :) )
Very Good Food. My husband and I ate there for Valentines Day and we had a special for two. The crab cake was the best I ever had. Excellent. I can go again and just order the crab cakes. Very nice atmosphere. We enjoyed it very much.
largely unspectacular.
I've eaten at McCormick and Schmick's twice. The first time, I ordered the barbecue shrimp and andouille with grits. I couldn't finish it. The shrimp and sausage were literally smothered in barbecue sauce that completely overwhelmed the dish. I make my own andouille so I'm a little biased, but theirs was fatty, flavorless and overcooked.
So last night, my wife and I decided to try it again. She ordered the lobster ravioli with crab, which she thoroughly enjoyed. The accompanying spinach was nicely flavored but way too salty. I ordered the most expensive thing on the menu: the filet with the crab. You get a choice of a crab cake, crab legs or oscar style with hollandaise and asparagus. I chose a crab cake. Now, you'd think for $26.95 that they'd at least give you a side dish. Nope. Seriously? Not even a few leaves of lettuce or a potato? No. All extra. So, I ordered mashed potatoes on the side. The crab cake was, well, crab. A few peppers and a pinch of Old Bay. I've had better but it was passable. They didn't get all the shell out so it was a bit crunchy. The steak, on the other hand, was simply outstanding. Perfectly cooked, nicely flavored, and about the size of a McDonald's hamburger. My plate had about six green beans, which were delicious. The mashed potatoes were from a box. Enough said. What are potatoes, 69 cents a pound? Come on. Anyway, for dessert I had the upside down apple pie with cinnamon ice cream. It was the size of my meal and really, really good. My wife had something that they said was New Zealand's national dessert - a meringue shell with some custard and some kiwis. I didn't try it but she said it was excellent.
Bottom line: if I'm going to pay enough for an airline ticket to Chicago, I want a spectacular meal with huge portions. McCormick and Schmick's just didn't do it. You can get a bigger, more consistently better seafood meal at Rockfish in South Point for a lot cheaper.
Don't order the Oysters. Valentines Day Dinner for two, ordered the Oyster Sampler ($25 for a doz.) The first one was fine, the second I spit out, it smelled like rotten fish guts. I could not eat another oyster. My friend finished the oysters and he also had a bad one. The waiter replaced the two bad oysters, I could not get the smell or taste out of my mouth. I had the Seafood mixed Grill, the shrimp on a skewer were excellent, but the 3oz salmon filet (about the size of a deck of playing cards) was obviously frozen and "fishy" tasting, the crab cake was the best I have had. I asked for a glass of water, the waiter took my coffee away. Other people around us were offered refills on bread, I felt the waiter avoided our table because I complained about the rotten oysters. Our meal was $88. for two entrees, a dozen oysters, one ice tea and one coffee. I will never eat at McCormick and Schmicks again...My Valentine's dinner was an awful experience.
