Cary >John Clay Salon
I just moved to Cary and I'm very picky about my hair. I tried a few places til I came here, and I am so glad I found my new place!
Liza was my stylist and she was fantastic. She was very knowledgeable and confident when it came to color (I have dirty blond hair with some grays). Usually I have to get my roots dyed, then get highlights after and it is expensive and I am at the salon for hours. Liza did a new technique called "baliage" where she did the roots and painted highlights on at the same time and it looks amazing and saved me time and money.
My hair also pulls red and they have to put toner on it but it did not happen here! I love my color so much and I get so many compliments. The cut was great too and she showed me different ways to style it. It has body and style now even 4 weeks after coming. I have never felt so good about my hair!!
pros: great atmosphere, friendly and well educated staff
stylist. I was so glad when I finally found Ashley at Salon Jon Clay! It wasn't until a few months ago when they called to confirm my appointment that I was told she no longer worked there. I asked them if they knew where she went and they simply would not tell me, just that they could rescheduale me with another stylist. Since that wasn't going to happen I went on a mission. After a lot or searching I finally found her at Atomic 2 Salon. I decided to post this to save everyone else the headache of looking for her.
I have always had trouble coloring my hair. My hair is naturally brown with red highlights. When I highlight my hair, it clings to the red tones and my hair looks like a haystack. I am so happy that I found Aarika. She is incredible. I have used her several times and not once have I been disappointed. When I leave the salon, I don't feel like a "brass bed". It feels great to have someone who knows how to work with hard to color hair. As long as Aarika is with Salon John Clay; I will be there as well.
Bait and Switch.
I really wanted to give this salon a try, so I called for a consultation. I had a postcard in the mail with their specials, and I was hoping one of the specials would work for my hair. I was told that there would be time for my hair to be done after the initial consultation.
I had a consultation with Jessie and she said I could use the recession buster special, only not today. She said she was fully booked today and tomorrow (even though when I had called, they said I could get my hair done after). I asked about the following Monday, she said she didn't work on Mondays. Then, she said maybe someone else could do my hair. She arranged for another stylist to do my hair that day, if I came back in 35 minutes.
I came back in 35 minutes and the new stylist said I couldn't use the coupon with her. She said she could do what I asked if she charged more money.
In my book, this is called "bait and switch". I came to the salon in the hopes to use a coupon, only to be told that I could not use the coupon unless I came back on another day. I wonder what the Better Business Bureau would think of this? I will soon find out...
I will never go anywhere else. Best Haidresser!!. I went to Jon Clay after almost giving up on my hair completely. I had burned the ends severely with highlights and dying it blonde several times. I thought I would have to cut it all off and start over. Jon used a new conditioning treatment that changed my hair and brought it back to life immediatly. It is gorgous! He is the most professional and well educated stylist I have ever been too! Go see him.
Could have been better.
I don't think they really qualify as a top level salon.
They missed details that bothered me.
awful!!!!. This is by far the worst place I have ever been. My hair is a graduated bob and the stylist I had chopped my hair straight across and I am embarrassed to walk out of my door. I tried to call the manager twice and had to leave messages and have yet to recieve a call back. Not only was the stylist bad but so is management. This is the worst customer service I have ever recieved and is unacceptable. I will never go back there!!!! A one star rating is too much but since I had to choose that was the least I could give them. Just an awful, horrible experience all the way around!
Jerk. I love all the stylists there! but the owner is a fat, coked up, jerk. He treats all of his staff like crap and even talks badly about them in front of clients. A fat, balding gentlemen should NOT be behind a chair!
Allen is the BEST hairstylist in Cary!. I am one of those women who "just don't do hair". Not that I am too lazy I just have no patience or ability to work with hair. However I have very thick and somewhat dry hair with part of it very straight and other parts very wavy. I had gone to Salon Blu for many many years for both my color and cuts. They did a good job but were extremely expensive and I had to see one person for cuts and another for color. My very close friend had recommended Allen to me so I decided to give him a try. On my first visit I told Allen that I needed an easy wash and wear type cut but still wanted it to look current and cute. He nailed it first time out. I now have a new salon that does better but for a lot less money and I only have to see one person. My hair feels great after a color and never feels like it was over processed, and the look is just fabulous.
I love Ashley at the Salon Jon Clay !.
I have been going to Ashley at the Salon Jon Clay for almost 2 years. She is fantastic! I change my color quite often, from platinum blonde to dark and everything in between. I have never been dissapointed. I also go to Ashley for all my cuts, she is great at making my hair look it's best!
