Real Italian in Downtown Cary
by docthorne
Being a transplanted upstate NYer (Endicott) I was raised on Roma's bread and as a child spent many a Friday night enjoying Roma's pizza with family and friends. The bread and pizza Michael and Lisa and the rest of the crew at Roma's Cary create is actually better than what I remember as a child. Forget the other posers who claim "real" Italian, if you're looking for the best Italian bread, pizza, pork spiedies, and subs, Roma's IS the real thing. There's none better.
- Pros: Fresh-baked bread, Sicilian pizza and lots of smiles
- Cons: Profile
Great bread

Great Italian bread and baguettes. I wasn' t a big fan of the pizza. It was a thin sicilian style pie. I had much higher expectations.

Thanks for remembering me of home, I grow up in Binghamton the home of speidies. We came to Cary to do some shopping and had to stop in, too see and have a sub. We will be back again.

Fellow Triple-cities natives, this is home...

I grew up in Endicott, NY - birthplace of spiedies - as did the owners of this resturant. I'm told that they're friends of the Jim Roma family (Jim Roma's bakery).
If you grew up on Roma's Italian bread and Lupos spiedies, then welcome home. Romas of Cary offers spiedie subs, Lupos marinade and in-house baked Italian bread that is second to none in the Southern Tier. Their pizza is dead-on and the lunch special of 2 slices (that's really more like 4 traditional slices of sheet pizza) and a drink for $4 w/ tax can't be beat.
The store is on Harrison ave, directly across from the train station, right next to Harrison's/Pure Gold.
Who cares about atmosphere, this place has the best Italian food around.
- Pros: Food, Food, Food!

Thought the atmosphere was cozy, nice little joint to relax and get a great sandwhich.
- Pros: Quick, great specials, inexpensive
- Cons: parking, no exposure, hours
