Editor's note: this restaurant is closed..
You wouldn't expect to stumble across a neat little place like this at a strip mall in Cary. Sunny and casual, with more of a deli atmosphere than a restaurant ambience, this family-run eatery is a hidden gastronomic gem.
You might have to ask a lot of questions about the Southern Indian menu, but the owners seem more than happy to explain (or even let you sample) the dish in question. Appetizers like kaman dhokla (chick pea fritters) and sev usal (chick pea noodles with dried green peas) go for $1.50-$4. Masala dosai (lentil crepe with potatoes and onions) is one of about twenty entrees in the $4 range that come with soup and coconut chutney. Poori, chapatis, and parathas breads are available with all meals.
Weekly lunch and dinner specials are available at even lower prices. The lunch buffet costs $4.95 for all you can eat, and is a real treat if you're used to the usual tandoori and curry smorgasboard.
