Horrible business practices – This is the most poorly run company I have ever dealt with. No one who works here seems to know ANYTHING about contracts, pricing, or anything involving the basics of the business. It took me 3 months to cancel a contract with a personal trainer (after following all of the appropriate guidelines to do so), with "corporate" giving me the run around the whole time. I eventually had to contact my lawyer, that's what worked in the end. Since then, both of the gyms in Cary that I work out at have closed unannounced, each time making me drive all around town just to work out. My husband and I are in the process of cancelling our accounts based on their shady business practices. Who would trust a company when their locations are closing so abruptly and without notice?? What happens when the entire business folds and so many people have contracts with them?? I DO NOT trust this comapny and you shouldn't either!
Very Basic Gym – If you want the basics in workout, this is it, do not expect much more. The facilities needs to be kept in better maintance and I sometimes question the cleaniness of it, but, overall a good very basic gym.
Not so sure about this one – I normally go to the Beyond Fitness on Jones Franklin Rd. I used to go to the one at Waverly place but obviously that is not an option for me since it appears it wont be reopening any time soon. The staff at the one on Jones Franklin are weird. One of the managers I believe or employees, I'm not sure which, stares at me like I'm a piece of meat whenever I go in. And this one personal trainer there is weird too he was completely in my way when I was trying to scan my card and didnt even move when I said "excuse me" just stared at me. I mean what is that?? Anyhow I cant wait until my contract is up unfortunately that will be next February. The only reason I still go is because I"m paying $30 a month and its close by. If the people there werent so weird it wouldnt be so bad, I just want a gym where I can go work out in peace, and that is relatively clean.
Do Not Recommend, You get what you pay for – A business has to make a very bad impression on me for me to write a negative review. I was a member of Gold's Gym when the location changed to Beyond Fitness.
Pros: Specials so cheap they are deceivingly persuasive.
Cons: Staff is unprofessional, not helpful and lazy. Personal trainers work on commission and they are more interested in selling sessions than helping you develop a workout program. Equipment is not maintained and machines that are broken stay so for extended times. Overall environment is not conducive to working out. Getting out of your contract requires sending a signed document via certified mail, and even then you will still get bills in the mail for several months. Representatives at the company are not cooperative and do not care that they lose your business.
Not worth the price when compared to other Gyms, I switched back to Gold's.
User review by roni2you – Most of the place looks as if it has not been atttended to in years. Half the time you can not find a working machine. Although they offer great classes the room for the classes is a joke. It has NO heat or AC in it. In the winter you hate to go to classes because even the instructors are trying to workout in 4 layers of clothes! You can complain all you want but you never see any results.
Editorial Review – Memberships include access to all facility services such as cardiovascular conditioning, group exercise classes, free weights, personal training, yoga and tanning.
My Mebership is worth every penny – I do have a membership at Beyond Fitness near Morrisville in Cary NC. If I had the time I'd spend all day working out at this place
Aerobics classes are crowded! – Classes are crowded. The Saturday morning class is so crowded you have to get there early to get a step, and even then you can probably reach out and touch the person next to you. When I joined Gold's a few years ago the aerobics classes were great! There were plenty of steps and plenty of space. (But alot of the feet on the bottom of the steps need to be repaired.)
How did it get so bad?? – Staff is ignorant, rude and plain NON HELPFUL and unfriendly. Trainer policy change in last year -- you must use Gold's personal trainers. Costs $40+ a session. Inquired with the lead trainer who seemed unprofessional. I asked to meet a few of the trainers to decide - he was shocked and said he couldn't ask them to all come in at once. He made it clear the female trainer would be best. The only reason he gave was that she was knowledgeable and had went to school with him (which he noted at least 4 times). Didn't feel like I had been listened to and soon left.
You didn't have to use Gold's trainers when I joined.
Disappointing – The staff is rude, their sales tactics are slimy, there is always broken equipment that remains unrepaired for far too long, the air conditioning is ify at best, and the new personal training company is loathsome! But that is just one person's opinion.
